We love, love, love this hotel. The rooms are clean and tidy, the owners warm and welcoming. The pool is gorgeous and quiet and a nice bar selling great cocktails 😆 Thank you to Rula Yanis Harris and Marielena for their hospitality. 10 minute walk to Tigaki this is a great base and we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Yanis and George have done a great job of creating a hotel very well suited to the needs of people visiting this very nice small resort. The rooms are very clean and well positioned for views etc. The swimming pool area with bar is very nice and a lovely place to hide from the highest temperatures.

The hotel is a bit away from the both the beach and the Main Street but it only takes a 15-20 minute walk to both. We stayed in c block which gave a view of the mountains and salt lake. The veranda got sun from late afternoon. We ate at the hotel several times. The fish bbq was fantastic. While we were there there was a thunderstorm which lasted all day and again we ate there. I had spaghetti seafood which again was excellent.the rooms were basic but very clean and all we needed. the maids came in every day. If you had gone fully self catering you might have struggled but we only ever had coffe, bread butter and cheese for breakfast it was all we needed.the hotel did have free wifi but only in the public areas, we could not get in c block.

The Golden Star is a hidden gem. The rooms are clean and well apportioned. The food is also excellent, particularly the bar be que fish night. It's also a short walk to the host of restaurants and bars and the beautiful sandy beach. Most of all I recommend the Golden Star because of the warm welcome and hospitality of Rula, Yanis and of course Costas.

We have visited many Greek islands over the years and stayed in a variety of studio rooms and can honestly say that our room at Golden Star Hotel Apartments was one of the very best. Our room, on the ground floor, was very modern and spacious. It was a twin bedded room with a sofa, built in wardrobe and dressing table area with mirror. The kitchenette area included a fridge, two ring cooker ( no oven) and a kettle. We did not cook but made good use of the fridge and kettle. There was also a small table and three chairs. Even with all this furniture there was plenty of room. There was a small area outside which was also furnished with a table and chairs as well as a clothes drier. The bathroom was immaculate. The maids came in everyday to empty bins and change towels. We did not use the pool as the chlorine hurts my husbands eyes but the pool area looked very well tended. The whole hotel was modern and very well maintained. We were room only so did not take breakfast but ate in the hotel on BBQ night. There was a buffet for the salad and starters. I had chicken kebab and my husband had a pork kebab , both served with a baked potato. There was no entertainment. The hotel is in a very quiet area about 15 mins walk from the beach and about 7/8 mins from the main street. The free WiFi connection was good. It is a lovely hotel and I would recommend it.

In 2014 we stayed at the Tigaki Star so knew the area well, the Golden Star is a lovely typical Greek Hotel. The breakfast was the best we have experienced in 25 years of visiting the Greek Islands, it varied a little bit each day but usually there were bacon, eggs cereals, fruit, jam, feta, tomato, yogurt, honey, toast, rolls, cakes, olives, tea, coffee orange etc. The rooms are enormous, 5 of us stayed in 2 apartments, each apartment had 3 rooms, living with kitchen area, bed & bathroom, they were kept very clean. We had a balcony looking out to the sea which was a beautiful view. There was a large fridge a 2 ring stove top, kettle, cups & plates etc. so it was easy to make your own Greek coffee and a proper cup of tea. The bathroom actually had a bath! and a powerful shower. The pool was very quiet during the day sometimes we were completely on our own which was peaceful. We ate frequently at the Plori Taverna in Tigaki which was amazing and the main reason we went back to Tigaki this year. The Hotel is about a 25 minute walk from the beach (the beach is huge sun beds are 5euro for 2) but it's all on the flat so was easy managed. Walking to the nearest Taverna in Tigaki takes about 15 minutes. Coming back in the evening a torch was essential as was insect repellent, the mosquitoes are small you can hardly see the blighters but they still bite you :-( We didn't bother with the air con as it was 10 euros a day, even though it was 100+ during the day with the rooms being so large it didn't get overly hot at night. We ate at the Hotel one night when they did a BBQ - the food is of high quality and we had no complaints. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and always on hand to serve a drink or ice cream from the bar, and did I mention the breakfast was great!!! All in all this was exactly the holiday we thought it would be and that we wanted, we were concerned about the migrant issue in Kos town and on a trip there did see a few migrants but we saw none in Tigaki.

just spent 2wks at The Golden Star apartments and what a fabulous holiday my husband and myself had. Rula her husband and daughter made everyone very welcome, also all the other staff were very friendly. The apartments are very clean and spacious, we had a lovely garden view. June 23rd was a brilliant night we had Gyros and a fantastic buffet they certainly know how to look after their guests, we were all singing and dancing everyone joined in it was a night to remember. Also fish bbq was brilliant. Only 15mins walk to beach and 5mins to Tagaki all lovely restaurants. A lovely peaceful setup. A special calespara to George on reception. Joyce & Jim. sale.

Just spent a week here. Beautiful apartments. Very clean. Very peaceful. Friendly hosts. Breakfast is brilliant. Well worth booking. The bbq evening was gorgeous. If you want peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings then this is the place.

We had a lovely 2 weeks in this hotel in May/June and from the outset we were made to feel very welcome indeed by everyone .Yannis and Rula were delightful hosts and all the staff were extremely pleasant and cheerful. The apartments were roomy, very clean and well equipped. We had booked 'room only' so were pleasantly surprised to find a fridge [no extra charge], kettle , crockery etc, 2 cooking rings, table and chairs! Our balcony faced the saltwater wetlands so it was a lovely spot for a morning cuppa -watching all the birds -even flamingos! The pool area was spotless and offered shady spots if needed. We decided to pay for a breakfast package for the 2 weeks and boy! was it worth it .There was an excellent choice of hot and cold ,savoury and sweet ,tea ,coffee ,juice. The area around the hotel was quiet yet only 5 mins walk to the main area for bars and restaurants which were plentiful-our favourite was Sagittarius. The walk to the beach was at most 15 mins -we turned right out of the hotel and followed the lane round -quite straightforward. We visited Kos town a few times and used the local bus which was on time and only 2 euros each way . Kos town is a lovely day out with plenty of places to eat and a very attractive seafront -just watch out for the cycle lanes! There are also historical sites to visit and more than enough shops to browse. All in all we had a lovely time.

We have stayed here several times over the years and absolutely love it !! Its hidden away from the main part of town but not too far away that its off putting. You can walk to the beach in 15 mins, its flat but at night take a torch as some of the footpaths have ditches and pot holes...ask my knees!!. Yannis and Lola are always welcoming, regular visitor or not they welcome you everyday and nothing is too much trouble. The staff here work very hard, Lola's mother tends to the gardens, which are stunning and well kept, and the one thing i cannot praise highly enough is the cleanliness of this hotel, it is super clean, everywhere, the rooms are spotless, the outside areas etc, and thats why we come back because of the care and attention to detail. We go self catering but have eaten in the evening at the hotel, the fish is bought fresh from the markets in Kos that day as is the meat. The apartments (self catering) are large, kitchen/living area, seperate bedroom and bathroom, all facilities you would need. All rooms have a nice aspect, either mountain or sea or garden. The pool is always clean with plenty of sunbeds, we have stayed when the hotel has been full and it doesnt feel packed or crammed like other places. This is really a fabulous hotel if you are NOT looking for ''Party Central'', there are plenty of hotels for that in the town where you can be kept awake to the early hours with a thumping base. We hired bikes from Auto Planet...turn left out of hotel and its at the end of the road, they also do mopeds, cars etc.All brand new stock. 25 euro a week for a bike. We hired a moped for a day 15 euros and tootled around the island . Zia is a must for shopping and the evening Fantasia is definaltely worth doing, a great night of food and entertainment from the mountain top looking over Kos watching the to die for sunsets. If you turn right out of the hotel theres a quicker route into the centre of Tigaki (Which i believe would be the roundabout by the sea), just follow your way towards the beach through the back roads, you will come across olive oil and honey sellers etc. Eating out...well, plenty of choice, for the best view of the sunset i recommend Alikes which is the very end restaurant as you turn left at the beach, it has an upstairs platform area, the food is great, homemade and very reasonably priced and I thought a fair bit cheaper that others we ate at. Our Favourite restaurant is Plori, turn left at the roundabout and you will find it at the front, but to be honest they are all great, plenty of fresh fish and meat every night. You may want earplugs if you can't handle birds tweeting early in the morning, but you will find that everywhere in Kos, its what birds do, i like it but i know others don't....ask my grumpy partner!!! Thanks again for another wonderful holiday at The Golden Star. xxx Kathy
