Hi just come back from Gaia royal palace and Gaia royal. I start with the hotel . It’s a huge complex in a remote place in kos Greece 🇬🇷 called Mastichari. The hotel had a mini zoo,had most farmyard animals .massive mini golf 🏌️ one of the best I have seen .four swimming pools but none to deep .rooms we were put in one of there Annex rooms ment to be in the palace. But they put us with the royal but eating at the palace.brings me to the food its amazing 😉.i gave it a 3 star coz we had some issues.2nd day water packed up .i complained ok they fixed it,then 03:00 in the morning water plus electric packed in so from that point I was fuming .shouted complained at them saying we paid. For a four star .and we haven’t got any water or electric,so they said a drunken tourist crashed in the main power and cut of everything .they fixed it on the day so we out of for 6 hours .Entertainment was one day Greek night very good . That was it really.we went in October so very cold windy there ,otherside of kos was ok but sea was cold and swimming pools.staff waiters barmen and lady’s were very good.ok bus 🚌 there is a cheap bus goes all towns in kos.but you got know the right bus stop or you be standing for hours .so goodalround family hotel .on the day you arrive they take you to your room with a golf 🚗 cart which is a nice touch ,so I rate it three because of a few thing s that occurred. Thank you for listening
We arrived late due to a flight delay at 2.20 in the morning. could not get so much as a drink. eventually found the pool bar open and negociated a tea & coffee F O C as we were outside of All inc hours. The room was clean but tired describes it well. We had a balcony door that was warped and only shut at the bottom. There was an inch gap at the top through which many mosquitos relentlesly marched at half hour intervals. The gardens have had a lot of work done I guess in the spring but were now overgrown. The resturant was overbusy, the food at best average, but we never left it hungary. I found the reception barman arrogant. When I complained about the local Brandy had a tase of Brandy & Ouzo combined he said there was nothing wrongwith it. After having the same issue 3 nights running we abondoned the covered reception bar to get a better tasting drink at the pool bar. This bar was not serving Brany from a recycled Ouzo bottle. We were here for 10 days - there were 2 kids disco but no other entertainment. I rate this at best 2 star. the gardens looked
Fantastic holiday, brilliant hotel, staff friendly and welcoming especially Efi On the pool bar. Food was really good loads of choices. Lots of mosquito But that's just nature. Overall 10 out of 10. Would definitely return.
Stayed for 2 weeks from 30th September. Big bug bear was plastic glasses unless in restaurant or paying for drinks, they was the thinnest plastic I've ever seen.drinks on inclusive was beer wine brandy ouzo soft drinks and coffee, nothing else. Wine needed lemonade in both white and red to be drinkable, brandy disgusting. Beach bar not included even on party night. More of a family hotel than couples. Lots of smokers even smoking in dining area while people was eating. Food was good but needed to wait for refills very often. No entertainment only kids club. 42 euro for save !! 10 euro for each beach towel refundable at the end of holiday,1 euro every time you change them. Sun beds rotten around pool very uncomfortable.Hotel room very dated bed as hard as wood .
I am writing this review of the Gaia Royal hotel, after spending a wonderful week from 7th -14th August. As with their sister hotel the Gaia Garden in Lambi; I was very impressed with the welcome and service we received throughout our stay. Before arriving at the hotel, I had sent a message requesting a ground floor room; as I have to walk with a stick after a heart operation. When we arrived, and had checked in we were taken by golf cart to room 315. This comprised a main room with double and single beds, and a separate room with a double bed. More than spacious enough for the 3 of us. The room overlooked the kids pool and had a nice ramped patio. The drawback to the room was that the lock on the sliding door didn't work properly, but after letting reception know this, a repairman was sent and the whole thing was fixed within 30 minutes. Contrary to the views of some of the reviewers on this page, I have to say that the food and drink available at mealtimes and by the pool were excellent and plentiful. It was always hot and I even managed to get a slice of fried bread with my breakfast on one morning from the outdoor cooking station 😆 Where the food and the ambiance of the restaurant were excellent - especially the greek night where my son and I had so much fun discussing the fates of greek sheepdogs with all the whistling- the same could not be said for the manners of some of our fellow guests. On one occasion, as my son had the tongs about to pick up some chicken, a German guest reached around him and took them out of his hand. My wife mentioned this to him, but as I had to translate the reply, I am very pleased that my son doesn't understand German. I hasten to add that this is not the fault of the hotel, and that they had no control over this situation. Being a naturally early riser, I had no problem doing the 0600 'towel prowl'. We had a couple of unsavoury incidents, once when the towels of another English family had been thrown in the pool and one morning, our towels had been moved from the place where I had put them. Once again, down to the manners of other guests. During the day, between 1100 and 1700 our son was able to get ice cream from the pool bar. He discovered a liking for the pistachio flavour, and it probably saved us a lot of euros not having to keep buying them from the mini market. The evening entertainment was good, although probably more fun for the mosquitoes, who generally dined on the guests in the evening - so wear lots of DEET bug repellent - We were treated to a visit from a female Praying Mantis who seemed quite happy to pose for photos, and as you can see from the photos below, the sunsets are amazing. To sum up our stay, would I stay at the Gaia Royal again? Unreservedly YES; we are already in the process of booking for next year. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful, and I thought it was great to be told that the A.I. extended from the 1200 checkout until the doors closed on the coach to take us to the airport. So long as you can overlook the bad manners of some of the other guests, I would wholeheartedly recommended a stay at this heavenly resort. Well done guys, keep up the good work, and we'll see you again next year 😎
The hotel has 3 big swimming pools, the roms are big and modern. Nice view to the Eagen sea. The food is good, but in my opinion the hotel could change their offer more often, because if you stay there a whole week you will be having similar food all days. They could improve the drinks, the beer and the wine are bad, you´ll be tired of drinking soda all the time! The staff is excellent, specially Dymitris Fytas who was very professional and extremely kind with us. he was also very efficient in solving our needs, Thank him!
Just returned from very disappointing holiday. Arrived at hotel and found reception staff very unwelcoming. In fact for whole holiday very unhelpful. Never been to an all inclusive hotel like this one. Limited drinks included. Wine undrinkable. Asked for wine list for dinner told they only could offer one white wine which cost 12 euros, wine was hardly any better than free wine. Paid deposit for pool towels, which is normal, but had to pay a euro each time you changed your towel. Had to pay for wi fi. Had to pay for crazy golf. No proper entertainment for adults. Children's evening entertainment held quite late, 9.30 and music very loud and was by outside seating at pool bar, outside seatingvery poor. Couldn't sleep well as could hear music coming from various places, music very loud. Had a zoo. Felt very sorry for animals, it was very inadequate. Restaurant poorly run. Ran out of crockery, empty food containers at times, couldn't keep up with number of guests. One good point food was quite good. Another good point had mosquito protection at bedroom windows, really needed as loads of Mosquitos, I got badly bitten. Could go on and on. This was a very soul less hotel, no atmosphere. I don't mind children, but hotel was full of screening children. If you want to have a relaxing holiday with pleasant service I wouldn't advise you to go to this hotel.
Hugely disappointing hotel. With some exceptions, overall pretty miserable and unmotivated staff and hotel had a generally soulless atmosphere. Be aware you have to pay for use of safe, change of towels, wifi, beach beds, crazy golf and booze, (beyond the poor quality wine on offer, which I found undrinkable). Whilst we had spacious accommodation, the bathroom absolutely stank of sewage, and we had to repeatedly ask for that to be dealt with, but which wasn't successful. I daren't leave my toothbrush in the bathroom and we had to ensure the door was kept closed at all times. Our room was incredibly noisy being bombarded with conflicting music from dfferent angles. The towels were very well worn and often the edges were in tatters. On our first night we had to move from our table at dinner due to the smell of sewage. On reporting this to reception, basically no notice was taken. There was a small zoo where the animals and birds were kept in far too small enclosures. Approx 10-12 deer were in a small dust enclosure with no grazing. Quite large birds were in small cages. Overcrowded conditions for ducks and part of their ikaccommodation very smelly. This hotel is not suitable for anyone wanting any peace as loads of screaming young children. On the upside the food was pretty good, and quite satisfactory, although the dining areas and tables not great, and at times no plates or cups available. No "finesse" of any description. No m'aitre de or restaurant manager in evidence. My best guess is that the management and general hotel ethic was poor, which fed down 'through the ranks', Another helpful and good bonus was there were mosquito screens on the doors and windows which was great as mosquitoes very bad everywhere. The complex is quite attractive with plenty of trees and shrubs, although often a smell of sewerage pervades the air. Suitable for families with low expectations, as plenty of children's pools. Generally an 'air' of Butlins!!
Very impressed on arrival. Reception is fabulous, check in very smooth and quick. We were taken to our room on a golf buggy. Our room, whilst clean, smelt musty and damp. Beds were very hard! Air con is very effective. Cats are everywhere - keep the fly screens closed to prevent them and mosquitos. Mosquitos are rampant. Take plenty of repellent. The dining room; we expected to have to 'dress' for dinner. Don't worry about it! Folks wearing t-shirts with swear words on, swim shorts (Not budgie smugglers!) are accepted. Food.. theme nights were not very evident. Show cooking is outside away from the buffet dinner, don't expect extravagance. Fish steaks, pork steaks, venison sausages cooked on a hot plate. The maids and waiting staff are fabulous. Nothing is too much trouble. The beach is great, very clean. The bar is run by the hotel but not included in all-inclusive. Drinks are not expensive tho, no food available at the beach. No entertainment at night bar childrens clubs. Nice holiday but very over-priced for what it is.
We stayed 6 August-21 August 2017. We had a family two bedroom 'room' (2 adults 2 kids). We arrived in the early hours and was quickly through check in then ushered via golf buggy to our room. Food and drink had been left in the fridge for us. The complex is absolutely beautiful and well run. The grounds are spotless and rooms cleaned daily by the very hardworking housekeepers. All staff are very polite and eager to help. The food was varied every day and always a great selection. We never had a problem finding something different to eat each serving. If you drink alcohol then the AI drinks is not great. Red/white wine, beer, brandy and ouzo are the only alcoholic drinks available on AI. There are plenty of soft drinks options. They do not provide bottles of water but the bars are more than willing to refill empty water bottles. The three pools are fantastic. The main pool being our favourite. The child's pool (with the slides and castle features) is ideal for toddlers. The beach is less than five minutes from reception, it's clean and beautifully kept. You pay for sunbeds €1 each parasol €3. The AI drinks does not apply on the beach, you have to pay, but they are cheap. The entertainment is ok but not great, but you must attend the wine festival night. It is truly amazing. There is a bus that stops st the hotel Monday-Sunday at 930 that goes to kos town €3.20 each way (takes about half hour), then returns at 1pm to the hotel. Otherwise the bus stop is about a 15 min walk. Bus shelter side goes to kos, other side to mastichari. Taxis to mastichari are about €6/7 and take about 10 mins. Mastichari is a beautiful little village. Kos town is def worth a visit but you will need a whole day there. We paid €45 to keep our rooms until 6pm. Bathrooms are super clean, showers super powerful. Beds are comfy but only one pillow each. Air conditioning is invaluable. Overall we had a fantastic time here, I would most def come back. Transfer time from airport, no more than 20 mins. Thank you Gaia Royal for a fabulous summer holiday, we will come back again. 😎😎😍😍😍😍🤗🤗🤗🤗
