I have loved this hotel since two years ago when I booked for two nights and stayed two weeks. This is one of my favorite Taj hotels and love staying there. This year I had again only a two night visit but I will definately return for a longer stay next year. The magnificence of the hotel is breathtaking. Every member of the staff is there to make your stay memorable. They are all attentive and caring. The food - well - it is as a Taj always is - the best. In India my choice is always a Taj and this is my favorite one.
On 21.03.2018,I went to the Cal-27 restaurant for a business meeting. I gave my car for valet parking. When the car returned the driver just left my car in front of me and ran away saying the key is in the car. When I started driving I found the side mirror (ORVM) of my car broken. How can the valet parking driver bang my car and run away without informing? Never going to this hotel again. Also, please be sure to not hand over your car to valet parking of Taj Bengal if you are visiting here. I left the hotel extremely angry and had to pay INR 7,500 to get it repaired.
Merits: Appropriate service which you expect from the Taj Brand. Awesome breakfast and room interiors. Centrally located and close to landmarks such as, Victoria Memorial, Royal Calcutta Race Course, Alipore Gardens. Do try CHINOISERIE, which is one of the nicest Chinese Restaurants in town. Demerits (This time): Few hickups in wifi network.
Services of all departments are excellent and very efficient. Efficiency is the USP. Located just opposite to Alipore Zoo. You can walk there after lunch. And food is also good. Overall a great stay. Highly recommended in Kolkata.
My last visit to Kolkata, I stayed at the Taj Bengal. The breakfast was stale. So much of food recycling, visible there. Unhospitable staff at the breakfast restaurant. I was in a state of shock, such carelessness in the Taj! The hotel is nice. There are live music and 'shondhe dhunochi' The junction is good I must say
I stay there with my wife for 5 night. Room was awesome. All hotel staff was good. Food quality of this hotel is also very good. I was feeling like my home. This is very near to Kolkata airport and railway station
First time to Taj Bengal, excellent location, good ambience....nice restaurant ....had a lovely dinner at sonargacha restaurant with colleagues...will recommend to stay..nice rooms... little far from the airport, but worth staying....
Checked in yesterday after an early morning flight from Delhi. Had a very warm, friendly welcome from the front office staff, it was very quick. Room was nice and clean view was good. Breakfast was good, but not great, the spread wasn't as much as lalith ND, The station bar was good the lady sang beautifully. Fish ticka was very good. Staff were very good and friendly at the bar, better than the staff at breakfast they too are not bad. Must say the security staff both inside and outside are fantastic. All in all its a great experience the people at Taj Colombo has lots to learn.
Even though Kolkata is my hometown and this wasn’t my first visit to the Taj Bengal, this was the first time that I had chosen to stay at this hotel for three nights with a friend visiting from abroad. The view from our fourth floor room was amazing and I spent more than an hour with breaks trying to identify them with my binoculars. The pool was lovely especially for taking my after breakfast coffee when everyone was inside apart from me. The staff at this hotel is too good for simple words to describe especially the housekeeping staff, they’d come around every few hours and knock on the door to request if we needed more towels, tea or coffee sachets, cosmetics or toothpaste etc. Would love to check into this hotel again soon and just enjoy the property and it’s staff all day long.
I have been to Kolkata many times before, but had never stayed at Taj Bengal , so I was a bit skeptical . Of course my skepticism was unwarranted, as one, it is a Taj property and two, the staff at Taj Bengal know what they are doing. Front desk staff was helpful and responsive. The ambience , the decor of hotel is very vibrant, asethetic and pleasant. The restaurants are nice , specially, Sonargaon , whete the setting is rustic, food tasty and service great. The spa services are great . The Chambers, exclusive club lounge has the old world charm ,with efficient service. Room was pleasant and functional. Overall nice first stay at Taj Bengal.
