Taj Bengal5.0 out of 5.0

Dear Samrat, If Bengal is suppose to be the sweetest part of Bengal then Taj Bengal most definitely is the sweetest part of India. One has to experience the hospitality or should I say Tajness of Taj Bengal if one visits Kolkata to experience first hand what Tajness and Bengal is all about. Even for the people of Kolkata I would recommend staying and dining here as it is surely will be a mind blowing experience. Only at Taj can the staff out do themselves. My last visit at a Taj Property was at Taj Dubai which I though was perfect, only to realise that perfection can also be improved. Having travelled the world and having stayed at numerous five star properties, I can definitely vouch that when it comes to hospitality, probably very few hotels in the world can even come close to the Taj experience. Want to thank especially Sanjib, Bimal of Concierge, Shashi at the Chambers Lounge, Rishika and the other gentleman on the welcome desk on the 5th floor, Neha, Leonard and Rohit at the Hub for their remarkable hospitality and warmth ( special mention for Neha who ensured that we felt at home during lunch and breakfast). The sincere concern shown by each and every staff when my wife came down with an allergy ( reason not yet known) was quite re-assuring. The duty Manager Pradip ( not sure I got the name right) and Gurusharan also ensured to check on us and took the trouble of having the linen changed just in case. I went to Celebrate my wife's birthday with my family and she got a lovely cake and flowers. Thank you all once again for the fabulous experience. I would also like to thank the chefs at the hub during Sunday Brunch and Monday Morning Breakfast and Chinosserie during dinner for some exquisite food and culinary skills. Thank you team Taj for the Awesome experience. You guys truly embody what " Atithi Devo Bhava" stands for in India. Would surely love to visit again soon. Thanks again and Best Wishes, Srinjoy Sengupta.
Taj Bengal is an excellently located Hotel with friendly staff and good service. F&B is overpriced compared to the the other five star Hotels in the City . Presently hotel is under renovation because of which certain amenities and services may not be available
Hotel Location is very good. Most of the Tourist Places are well connected to the hotel. Needless to mention here that Hospitality of Taj properties are the best of its kind. Foods variety at Sonargaon Restaurant are excellent. Mainly the Nolen Gur Ice cream. Who are ice cream lover, must try it.
Very well located close to Victoria Memorial in Alipore. Must reserve and have a meal at the Chinese restaurant Chinosere. Their Indian & Lebanese restaurant also have a wide variety and serve awesome food with outstanding service. Rooms are a bit small but well equipped and clean. Go for the luxury category which unlike the Deluxe have wooden flooring and shower cubicle. David at the concierge will be your messiah for all your outdoor requirements. All staff especially the ones at the front desk are very warm and super helpful.
A very heart warming experience right from the airport, reception and room. The warmth displayed by each and every member of the staff was contagious. The attention to detail and the complete understanding of each and every need and its immediate execution was excellent. It was very apparent that even the staff were sharing their personal knowledge of each guest with their colleagues which made transition from one outlet to another totally seamless. An outstanding experience.
We were in the hotel primarily for business, and the service and amenities were by far the best I have observed so far. The rooms, business centre, restaurants and front desks exceeded expectations. I would also like to specially mention Mr. David Aaron and the Concierge staff for the level of service they offered, as well as Omprakash, our driver/guide, who took us on a Tour of Kolkata and drove us to and from the airport. I would very much recommend this hotel for both business and leisure.
Service was excellent. Singling out Sanjib Ghosh who took a personal interest in me since I was a bit under the weather when I arrived. Excellent welcome, rooms and cleanliness was above reproach. Restaurants offered good choices especially the Souk (Kritika Kotiyal - wonderful host) Waking up to the beautiful soft music every morning felt kingly Enjoyed the tea in the evening after a long day Great ambiance
Location of Hotel and one can reach very fast thanks to long Flyover constructed from ITC Sonar Circle at Byepass Road to Maidan . Great feeling and Excellent service by Hotel Staff . Alays served with Smile even at odd hours .value for Money spent .
I visited Calcutta and stayed at this hotel for its location and reputation. I was not disappointed. The staff were all very professional and couldn't do enough to please their guests. The bedroom was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Being there on business it would have been a distraction to stay anywhere less comfortable, and I would recommend this hotel when visiting Kolkata.
Stayed here for just a night with family. The rooms are large and well furnished with all the amenities one expect from the Brand Taj. The hotel is clean and hygienic. The food is good but somehow I won't rate it as great, as the range and preparation were just good short of excellent. Moreover, the layout of Buffet was a little auckward maybe due to temporary arrangements. The staff is helpful but miss the zing, as compared to what I experienced in The Oberoi Grand where I stayed prior to shifting to Taj because of room availability. The room was noisy in day time as some construction was going on above the floor where I was staying, which was a bit irritating. Since the Hub was being renovated the make shift arrangements were make shift at best and bit too warm for me. The check in and check out process was great and my daughter loved the stuffed toys the room had. Maybe it was a wrong time to visit this great hotel, which I am sure is much better than my review here.
