My wife and I stayed two nights on a recent Overseas Adventure Tour of the Baltic Countries and St. Petersburg, Russia. While searching for our room my wife missed a step in the second floor hallway and fell with her left hand breaking the fall. There were no broken bones, but there was swelling under her left thumb. MORE IMPORTANTLY, THERE WAS NO WARNING ABOUT THE STEP IN THE HALLWAY. Several rooms had one step up to the door as well. I also tripped (but did not fall) on the same step as my wife. While the standard room we had was large enough the bed I slept in was uncomfortable because this hotel does not have North American type beds: there is no foundation only a mattress on wooden slats. The bed was as high as sofa beds in the US. We also had difficulties with the in room safe because it opens and closes with a key, not a combination you set yourself as has been the case with all other hotels we've been in (including three others on this trip) and cruse ships we've sailed on. There were no written or verbal instructions on taking the key out of the safe given when we arrived. As with most European hotels, there is a hand held shower and a glass screen that is only half the length of the bathtub. Water was on the bathroom floor after I finished my showers. Breakfast was unremarkable with limited selections, but the included dinner in the restaurant/bar (Kit Kat Club) was very good. Service by waitstaff was good as well. My recommendation is to research other hotels in Klaipeda and chose an alternative. A possible alternative is the Radisson Blu. The Radisson Blu we stayed at in Tallinn Estonia was excellent and had American style beds.
The National is a hotel that was built in 1855 that is near the river and the old town. Our room was large and seemed a bit old fashioned but was quite comfortable. We had a small refrigerator with room for our water bottles in addition to the goods in its minibar. The free wifi was very fast. Breakfast was beter than average. It featured strata-type eggs instead of dry crumbly scrambled eggs as well as bacon, mushrooms, sausages, cold ham, roast turkey, cold sausage, salads, yogurts, and pastries that were very good as was the coffee. Good value. The location is very convenient. We got to Klaipeda on the coast about 5:30, pulling up to our hotel, the National Hotel, a mint green building that was built in 1855. It is quite near the river and the old town The room is large. Seems old fashioned but actually no complaints== small fridge with mini bar and lots of things for sale around the room. Fast wifi==much better than first hotel. Breakfast fine - featured souffle=like baked eggs, bacon, mushrooms, sausages, cold ham, roast turkey, sausage, salads, yogurts, pastries were very good; coffee good. Please at breakfast room.
Older hotel in a very central location, but which has some very quaint and inconvenient features. Many, if not all, rooms on third and fourth floors have slanted ceilings covering about half the room. That makes half of a room barely useable; all the furniture is squeezed in the other half. Good luck trying to use a chair and a table. Another ''quaint" feature is a very small TV, probably 10-15 years old, with the hotel's insignia on it. The room and the bathroom were clean, there were plenty of shower gel and shampoo, although no conditioner (don't know if that's on purpose, or some of the extra shampoo bottles were supposed to be a conditioner). The bed (two twins put together) was comfortable, if a bit short. Overall, an excellent location, but more like a 3-star hotel, with some architectural caveats. Good breakfast buffett.
We checked in successfully but the next day, when we went back to our rooms, we were locked out. Before we went downstairs to complain, i accidentally touched my room door with my hand and it opened. Housekeeping had not bothered to lock my door when they were thru cleaning. I was really upset and reported it to the front desk at the same time I went to complain about my key card not working. About the key cards - We were told that someone on that desk had checked everyone in for one day instead of for the length of their stay. So we had to get in line with some other folks and wait for a new one. As far as my room being left open, the person on the front desk asked me to go back to my room and to check whether anything was missing. This was time consuming and inconvenient - all because of a sloppy housekeeper. The front desk just said sorry and the next day, as I was leaving, gave me coupons for two free drinks at the bar. When was I supposed to use them - I was leaving! Too little, too late. All of my frustration aside, the room was decent but only one of the two outlets worked. I also reported that to the front desk but nothing was done. The location was conveniently located in old town but given my troubles while I was there, I'd probably stay somewhere else next time.
Yet another short stay in a hotel. The staff was welcoming and friendly, the rooms were a bit worn, but did not expect more. Breakfast was pretty good. Parking in the area is not free till 8am, so remember to pay beforehand.
10 of us stayed 2 nights at this quaint hotel. Upon arrival, the computer mouse was broken and it took an hour to check us in. 2 of the couple's were erroneously checked out after 1 day and needed new keys. The rooms are reasonably large but poorly designed. On the third floor they all have a low slanting roof. 3 couple's injured themselves by hitting their head on the roof. The beds are low but comfortable. There are only 2 electrical outlets so bring extension cords and octapusses. There are two small night tables and a small desk. If you have more than one suitcase it will go on the floor. One couple gave in some laundry. They had difficulty getting it back in one day and they were overcharged. We would not stay here again.
Great location in the center of Klaipeda old town. Own parking but many parking places on the street (be careful - you need to pay from 8h till 18h). Good breakfast. First time I see quinoa pudding for breakfast in a "super food" section. Very nice and helpful staff.
Great location - center of old town. Tasteful breakfastn very friendly and polite stuff. I've stayed for 4 nights. Wifi in room is slower than in lobby. I would recommend this hotel to everybody. Looking forward to come again!
Of the six hotels we stayed at during our tour, this was the most basic. It was a small room lacking in amenities such as a water heater to make coffee or tea and even clothes hangers were few. The TV was a small computer monitor size and not convenient for viewing. The buffet breakfast was the simplest of the hotels we stayed at. At least WiFi worked well in the room.
I had a room at the 4 floor during my business trip to Klaipeda. The hotel is nice for me, but because of noise at the first floor from the bar (where reception is located) I thought that something should be wrong. I have no idea why this hotel share the first floor with the bar? But after arrival to my room I realise that my room will be quite. I did shut down the AC unit and open the window. I don't know, maybe in summer time this floor is hot as hell, but in autumn is perfect. The most important thing that I like is that they have very small TV screens in the room. I think it vas 22'' screen size. I think that there is nothing to do with TV in the city :). The cleanliness was not perfect as I found dark hair on the bathroom's wall and dust on the carpet under the commode. The carpets at the entrance of the corridor seems to be not very new. The breakfast was good. They suggest parking not far away. But you may chance to get free reservation place at the doors of the hotel. This reservation place is 12m long (for 3-4 cars).
