The resort was very nice and secluded. The rooms were very spacious and neat. Mostly everything was great. The cons: the shower didn’t drain properly, room was always very humid, housekeeping only came by 1 of the 5 nights we were there and the phone didn’t work so we had to keep walking to the office to get things we needed.

Due to the virus the restaurant, exercise room and related facilities were all closed

This is the WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had to deal with on the many trips that I have been on. I was supposed to stay here for 4 nights a few days after new years with my husband, his family, and my family. After the hurricane hit, I called to make sure they were open and that our reservation still stood, they told me yes, everything was fine and they will see us during the new year. Sure enough, the day before I am supposed to get there, I have a conversation with a fellow islander and they tell me that the Renaissance is closed. I called and the lady on the phone tells me that the hotel is closed and only first responders are staying there. 1) they never e-mailed, called me, or sent me a letter that they cancelled my stay, 2) even after I called them they told me that the hotel was still open and that my reservation stood, 3) when i called them the day before to confirm my reservation the lady on the phone was disgustingly rude. I would never book this hotel again, completely unreliable.

My wife and I just got back from our stay at Renaissance in St Croix, and overall, it was just alright. We won't be going back to The Renaissance again, but we heard great things about The Buccaneer hotel so we'll try that out next time. The beach and scenery were fantastic, but most of the hotel staff were really slow and lazy, particularly the restaurant and bar staff. The thing we noticed most was the lack of manners ("thank you" or "you're welcome" were seldom heard, despite us giving thanks every time), but that seemed to be somewhat prevalent throughout the rest of the island population too though, so maybe it's a cultural thing. The registration staff didn't mention anything about the tap water not being ok to drink, which was ridiculous, and we only overheard the bartender saying it to another person by chance. The bartender then charged us $3 per bottle of water until we realized there was a free water refill station just a few feet away, which she neglected to tell us. We had a few other moments like that which made us feel like the staff had a "Gotcha! You should've known" mentality. The cleaning staff didn't do a good job of picking up and emptying the trash either, and we even had to ask reception for room cleaning on two days when the cleaning staff didn't even bother showing up. Also, out phone didn't work for the first few days, and when I told reception about it, they just shrugged their shoulders and said it was not their fault.

The room could have been cleaner. They should have taken the time to clean under the beds and dresser as well as under the sofa. I had a bug crawling on my face the second night of my stay. I also hated the lighting in the room. I think they should provide smoking sections for the people who choose to smoke as they are also spending their money at the resort. On a positive note the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Earl the bellman is awesome.

It was our first time at St Croix. Our time was so limited only for few days but it was worth the travel. Everything was amazing from the room to the staff and the view. We had a great time, definitely we'll be back.

Very happy with stay. Would stay their next time too.

This is the best resort in St Croix it is on an Isolated beach on the north shore, You can scuba dive from the beach and see sharks sting rays and Baracudas as well as the nornmal fish. Every room may have small prob;ems like the phone not working or drawers on dresser always coming open or Bathroom door locking and not being able to open but these are problems every older resort will have. They were very accomidating because I took a girlfriend who was just getting over torn ligament in her foot so they kept moving us closer to the beach to a great room with the perfect view. The dive shop was great and found a problem with my regs I didnt know and loaned me a great new set. The only complaint I have is the choice of food is limited since the resort is isolated and was a little expensive. But if you have a car you can find a lot of good choices on the island.

We were looking for a week long vacation and also wanted to scout out possible retirement houses in the Caribbean. The Renaissance is centrally located between Christiansted and Fredricksted. Beach was nice, but only a small strip was swimmable due to rocks and coral off shore. Not too crowded, the food was very good and the staff friendly (if a little laid back).

This was one of if not one the most beautiful place I have ever been. The beaches were beautiful and quiet, the views were majestic and stunning, and the time we had will leave us with memories we will never forget!

The staff was awesome. Checked in me all of the time. Food and drinks were terrific. Scenery was make believe fairytale. Planning my next trip already. Even looking for timeshares. St. Croix has a home feeling to it. The locals are very nice!!!

We stayed at the Renaissance Carambola Dec 9-13th. Me and my girlfriend had a wonderful stay. The hotel is tucked away in a beautiful, secluded valley. There is absolutely nothing around you except mountains and beach. The hotel villas are wonderful and spacious. I wish they had more natural light, but we spent limited time in there only to pretty much sleep and get ready. The grounds are great, they are still working on improving them. Great pool, clean beach. If you want a relaxing vacation and absolutely do nothing, this is the place for you. Dive shop is right on site for you divers. What I would change is there are 2 restaurants, but only one was open for breakfast and dinner. Wish they had both restaurants open for dinner when we stayed. I would definitely recommend renting a car and driving to Christiansted for more dining options. Prices at the resort are also up there. $11 for a mixed drink seemed a little high. But it is what it is. This place is definitely not a party resort, they had night entertainment couple times a week but the resort is pretty dead after 10-11pm. Pool is open 24 hrs which is nice. Staff was great, always courteous and say hello. Service is SLOW, but this is throughout the entire island. Its just Island Life. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

The room/suite was comfortable and right on the beach. The staff were friendly and helpful. Food and drinks a little pricy but tasty and good.

We fell in love with the Island, the people, the water, sunsets .....If looking for a quiet relaxing lace. You found it.The service was awesome.Had ordered champagne to be chilled in oursuite upon arrival.Didnt happen, till next day.It was our anniversary and my birthday. So after chasing down the bubbly and FINALLY getting it.They sent us a lovely cheese and cracker platter .Then got chocolate covered strawberries. So they made up for the hiccup over the bubbly. The staff is awesome.Osbert is an asset to the place. He went above his normal duties to help us out.Only drawback to staying here is the drive back to Christiansted. But we will definetly be back again.

The hotel staff went above and beyond as we celebrated our engagement. From their enthusiasm and well wishes, kind gestures and congratulations, plus simple gifts and upgrades, it helped us to celebrate a very special occasion. The chef was exceptionally accommodating with our food requests (vegetarian) and created unique and flavorful meals. I wish the hotel wasn't so remote and there was an off site restaurant option. But honestly, you don't really need to leave for anything....sand and relaxation is at your disposal! Overall a terrific get-a-way and incredible deal for the nightly rate!
