Loved the property! Would stay there again!

Right on the beach, great room

This is a super overpriced place for what you get. I would call it a glorified motel, not a hotel or resort. It’s ok for just the basics, nothing more. It has good access to the beach, the air conditioned rooms are ok, the a/c is fine and cool, and parking is onsite and included. The staff is nice and attentive. That’s about it for the positives. The negatives: It smells like something funky covered by pinesol. I had to sprinkle the room with body splash just to make the smell bearable. The included breakfast is only coffee, juice from a machine, pre-packaged muffins and cereals and a waffle machine. Dont expect eggs, bacon, ham etc. Few tables, so there is a line. The pool is tiny and always full of screaching children. The pictures are misleading. The oceanfront room we got was tiny, and although it technically faced the ocean, the view was of a grass lawn that looked like a giant sand box for kids. We paid $400/night for that! Prepostrous! I would not recommend this place unless you cannot find something better or if it’s the only thing available at short notice.

I reserved this room for some family members who wanted a small room for just a couple of days while my immediate family stayed at a bigger place down the street. They were pleased but they have low standards when it comes to hotels. They want clean and cheap and this fits the bill. The place is clearly old so there are areas with chipped paint, peeling caulk, noisy HVAC, etc. However, the room was clean and the staff was friendly. The beach access is excellent. This would be a great place for a couple to stay if you don’t mind a few cosmetic imperfections and you’re ok with the motel layout.

Oceanfront. Close to attractions. It was unfortunate that the next door room conversations could easily be heard through the apparently hollow metal adjoining door.

I liked that the property was on the beach... a few steps & we were on the beach.

The beach being right behind the facility. The room was so clean and quiet. All the staff was very nice and helpful.

I would have preferred an upper level room as the sand dunes blocked our beach view. We loved the private beach and observation deck

Enjoyed my stay in the Four Seasons building. Room was recently renovated & clean. Hotel had easy access to the beach & ocean views. Conveniently located to most attractions & activities in the area.

Very clean. Super friendly staff and prompt service

Private ocean view and perfect location.....was concerned because "pet friendly would be dirty, but wasn't

Easy access to the beach and location to everything is convenient.

The walls inside the room were dirty. There’s was litter in the parking lot, strewn around, that sat in the same place for the 2 days we were there. There were no windows or air vents in the bathroom. Overpriced, I won’t return.

Great location. Easy beach access. Outside looks dated but rooms were nice

Well for starters the pictures they gave to Orbitz is filtered. It stinks like mildew and mold. They have live in tenants in some rooms. After checking in I went back to desk and told the guy I’m sorry I don’t live in these conditions and I’m not staying. The manager came out with her pants unzipped. That’s the kind of place this is.

The pros outweigh the cons and for us were the important things. Pros: great location, great beach spot, rooms clean and cheery Cons: Tiny bed pillows, ice machine frequently not working, hallways not clean, due to COVID no housekeeping service, maintenance was operating a leaf blower at 7:30 am right outside the room.

While the check-in was a little late due to Covid cleaning, the wait was worth it. Our room had fairly new finishes, a view of the ocean and the beach and beach access were excellent. We would definitely stay here again.

We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with such candid feedback of your stay. The John Yancey Inn has been a family favorite here on the Outer Banks for generations so we are very disappointed to hear that your guest room and overall stay did not meet your expectations. All the best,
