Maui Schooner Resort

3.5 out of 5.0

I have been an owner here for 13+ years. I have never seen the resort in better shape. You will see in other reviews how well equipped the suites are. It's also on the ocean side of Kihei Road. Most places are not. Over the years the beach has become more sandy and is great for walking. Out front you can paddle board or wander out into the ocean. It's not great for swimming as is shallow for a long way. There are a ton of turtles, especially if you walk a little south on the beach. The green area out front is great with public tennis / pickle ball courts. And just down the grass becomes a dog park at sunset. Great place to meet some fellow dog people....and dogs! The units themselves are meticulously cleaned every week. The staff is wonderful and the new management team is clearly doing a great job. My only criticism is that the hot tub is at 104-105. A little hot for most people. But please don't come here. I like having it to myself!

Maui Schooner is consistently a wonderful place for a Maui vacation. We've stayed there several times and on our most recent visit in January 2019 we found it even better than in the past. Kitchen utensils have been upgraded, there is now an on-site activities coordinator who made an excellent presentation on our first morning, and the area around the pool has been modernized and upgraded. No complaints whatsoever.

We rented a 1 BR condos for a week in Maui. The resort is right on the beach, although there's a grass area and tennis courts between the condo buildings/pool and the beach, itself. The beach is lovely, and you can walk along it for a long distance in either direction. The pool is small but with warm water, and a hot tub. Three large grills in the pool area were heavily used but people shared nicely. We had a porch/lanai that was great to eat a meal on. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped. The road by the Maui Schooner is not the greatest for walking because the sidewalks come and go and there's a fair amount of traffic. But, you can walk just a short distance on the busy S. Kihei Road, then take a right on the far less busy W. Waipuilani Road, and get to Nalu Restaurant and Times Market (for groceries) in just a few minutes. Or, you can walk along the beach to W. Waipuilani rd and miss Kihei Rd altogether. Maui is expensive, so it's nice to have a kitchen to cook at least some meals in I'd definitely stay here again. Quiet, peaceful, clean.

A few benefits that are note worthy. Ocean front resort, every evening we sat on the beach to watch the sun go down. Pool was heated, excellent for a morning swim. Clean everywhere, well maintained, nice staff. Beach towels, chairs and cooler provided. Nicely equipped kitchen, easy to make meals.

Staying on Maui, and we are enjoying every minute of it. Full of sights and adventure and delicious food. Everyone is so friendly and the views, wherever you look, are spectacular. The towns are close so you can truly explore the entire island.

We have been an owner of a 2 bedroom ever since The Maui Schooner became a time share. It’s been improved and kept up beautifully to serve as couple and family friendly home and base-camp for island adventures. Accommodations are ‘complete’ from our perspective. Not needing the services like that available at the mega-plex hotels. Grocery, restaurants, beaches and tourist shopping is all nearby. The facility is very well manages and maintained. Great for weekly renting.

I stayed here with family and my camera was stolen from my room when we were at the pool.I don't blame them for the theft but they have had several incidents like this before and they failed to advise their guests so that we could have taken extra precautions.

My husband and I enjoyed our week stay at the Maui Schooner. The staff all around the resort were friendly and helpful. The unit was well stocked with kitchen items, towels, beach chairs, cooler, washer/dryer, etc. My only complaint, and it's not really a complaint, is that the bathroom floor where it meets the wall could be cleaner, it appears that a mop is ran across the floor and a deeper cleaning has not been done along the wall.

Really enjoyed our stay here, nothing to fault it, in a great location, plenty to do and not far from the main shops etc. Facilities in the apartment were first class, everything you could need for a perfect holiday.

Minutes to the beach and all amenities are near by. Service is friendly and the front desk is very accommodating. Rooms are comfortable and well maintained. 2-bedroom suite is a loft design with the master bedroom upstairs and open to the living room/kitchen areas below. Great for families but not so much privacy for sharing couples. Otherwise a great place all around. Bonus discovery of beach chairs, cooler and towels in room are also provided. Perfect use for a day long drive around the island. Kudos...
