Described as historical and rustic - actually run-down and dirty. We never saw any staff or anyone in the office. Thankfully, a lovely park was located across the street, The Kern River is a beautiful area, but recommend finding somewhere else to stay.

We chose this location to be next to the river and our room was on the opposite side of the river, and we were not aware of this beforehand. The room hadn’t been cleaned in months. Dust hanging from the walls, and a dead bat in one of the windows. Layers of mold in the shower and one shower door completely broken off of the track. The sheets were too small for the bed. They kept coming off of the mattress and were not big enough for both of us to be covered all night. One night we were awakened by a couple fighting in the street with management not taking any action until I asked for the police to be involved. My husband walked to an area of the lake that was only for customers of the hotel and was asked to leave. Having to explain that you’re a paying customer of this establishment is ludicrous! If you choose this hotel, DO NOT STAY IN ROOM 5!!!! I hope someone from the department of health or the BBB reads this and makes a surprise visit.

This property was river front and you could walk to everything. The room was clean and cozy. Pet friendly, great coffee and quaint. I can't wait to visit again. The host was warm, welcoming and quick to respond to all inquiries. Great stay here at Riverview Lodge!

Loved the place , the owners , other guests that seemed to be locals but great to talk to …. Can’t remember owners name but decent folks who’ve got a good thing going on here… hope ta return !

Total dump. I believe the rooms were converted sheds. 2 night stay for 2 rooms and only stayed one night. No water pressure. TV didn't work. Door locks were not secure. Had to tie the doors closed from inside the room.

The check-in was easy and friendly. However the property needs maintenance and a deep cleaning and the door lock was tricky. Chipping paint, very dusty and black mold in the shower. Being right next to the road you can hear EVERY car tire roll by

Convenient but it's right next to the main road and noisy. My room was upstairs. The stairs were in an unkept condition with debris all over them. An ashtray on the front porch was full of OLD cigarette butts. The lighting was poor and the lock was very hard to open. Like someone had tried breaking in at one time. The deadbolt was not functioning with the key. The carpet inside was very stained and dirty. Would not stay here again.

The trip was going good. Staff was friendly. We cleaned our own room daily when we seen the cleaning ladies we would ask for a broom and mop to clean the room ourselves. One, because we’re clean people and secondly it’s an attempt to relieve some cleaning duties from the hotel staff. We don’t mind. The day before checking out I checked my credit card and we were charged an additional $350 for our service animals. Upon questioning the management I was told service animals were not allowed and all pets were subject to being charged. I explained the website clearly stated service animals were allowed and under California state law and not subject to fees or charge. The manager stated I was wrong. I explained further just to be met with the same results. I explained even if the charges were valid, which they were not, it should have been $200, not $350. My credit card statement now reflects an additional charge for $200. We will have to wait and see it the original $350 is returned to my card.
