Stayed for two nights so that we could visit Canterbury, which is a 15 minute walk so ideal location. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good with nice selection of cereals, fruit & pastries. Bed very comfortable - slept very well both nights. Building needs a little TLC but this didn't affect our stay.
Be prepared to pay for your stay as soon as you arrive not when you check out. my single room was above the hotel entrance , looking below there are also tables outside where, guests or non guests were drinking and talking until late, hence very noisy. The hotel is NOT situated close to the town. Beware the taxi service the hotel use. I ordered a taxi to go to the crematorium only to be asked the postcode and the way to the crematorium. ! The single room was poor and the shower needed updating. The food ,however was good Be aware that there are charges for weekends. I was not aware of this until I received a print-out when I checked out. ... The hotel lacks a personal l friendly touch and I felt that until I made a complaint ... I did not receive that. I would not stay at this hotel again...
Last April we stayed in this very cosy hotel on walking distance from the Canterbury city center. The room was very good, enough space also for a wheelchair, and very clean. Every day we got new fresh cookies served, which is a nice gesture. The restaurant is also to be recommended. They serve very good food at the same price level as a regular pub in that region.
The staff in the hotel are very friendly and very helpful, the bar has a good selection of beers, and the prices are very reasonably, the restaurant has a good menu and very reasonable, the only issue we found was, after ordering our starter (which I must say was very good), and main meal, the starter came up and we enjoyed, but as soon as the plate was taken from our table, the main was put in front of us, again the main was very good, but it came out to fast, and no chance of a small break between courses. The rooms were very clean and bright. Breakfast was again very good, and very reasonable. Parking and free wifi, the wifi had no restrictions which was great. The hotel is in a prime location and we would visit again, the only down side was, the break between first and second course.
The family room was spacious, clean, well-equipped and airy. Despite being near a busy roundabout there was no noise disturbance. The restaurant was good value for money - the food was good and plentiful.
When my wife says I've booked a cheap hotel for the night it doesn't normally end well but to my surprise on this occasion I was wrong. This hotel is perfect for a overnight or weekend stay. Clean and comfortable beds good selection of tea/coffee and biscuits provided and immaculate bathroom. Although we didn't eat in the restaurant it looked extremely busy for Sunday lunch which is always a good sign. A Very pleasant stay.
First time stay here - just 2 nights. Large car park but full on Sundays due to popular carvery. Food excellent with friendly waitress service. Rooms are a nice size and comfortable. Had trouble with electronic room key and had to change it 3 times. was told that keeping it next to credit cards can upset it - never heard that one before! Free Wifi which is excellent. The rooms are far enough from the Restaurant/bar area for no noise to be heard. Position very good for visiting Canterbury by car or foot. For a 3 Star Hotel it was excellent and would visit again.
Clean rooms. Helpful staff. Excellent breakfast and good range, all very beautufully cooked. Would recommend. I am not a fast walker and it only took me 15minutes to walk into the town centre. Not a great range on the tv,is the only fault.
A character budget hotel with a bar and restaurant opposite a park on the outskirts of the centre of the beautiful, historic city of Canterbury. The car park is big. Reception isn’t permanently staffed, so you ring for service which was friendly but swift. My room was a genuine single and very small, but with all the facilities I needed. Extra points for biscuits and decaf coffee. It wasn’t scruffy or poor quality – it was nicely decorated and with a good TV, very good shower and generally nice facilities. The free wifi worked fine for browsing and emails and I even managed a bit of streaming (selfish I know, sorry). I didn’t use the restaurant, but it looked nice. Breakfast was cooked to order and delivered quickly. Not sure how big the other rooms are, but everything else about this hotel was excellent in my view. Recommended.
The Victoria Hotel offered comfortable accommodation a twenty minute walk from the heart of the city. The single room was of a good size with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was also a good size, however, there was a couple of things that let this down. 1. The toilet seat was very loose. 2. One of the vertical blinds was missing. On the plus side the shower was excellent, with a nice big shower head and plenty of water pressure. The room was clean and the staff friendly. There was plenty of free parking to the rear of the building, with free Wi-Fi throughout.
