This hotel served our purpose - parking & close (walking distance) to City. We had dinner the first night & breakfast both mornings! Staff seemed somewhat lax in attending to us on all occasions. Food was okay but nothing special. Would be a good idea to have menu's in the rooms. Room was good with TV, tea/coffee making (though I would like a mini fridge in ALL hotel rooms with real milk in it - I hate UHT milk!!). Windows are single glazed which wasn't an issue as our faced the garden but I think in the summer it might get noisy with people sitting out there! Bathroom was adequate - deep bath, shower too low (5' 8" and had to bend knees to wash hair!!), loo roll holder was almost falling off & the sealant round the bath & taps was mouldy in places. The kingsize bed was actually 2 single beds pushed together which meant there was a ridge in the middle!

Good location not far from town centre and off the main road, nice garden, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, good food. Carvery dinner 5 nights a week. Reductions for over 60s. Bar can be used by non-residents. Rooms have TV/radio, telephone, en-suite bathroom with bath/shower, hairdryer and toiletries. Tea, coffer, hot chocolate and biscuits in room.

This was a very nice property. It is a longer walk into the city center (about 12-15 minutes) but we went a back way and it was a lovely walk or about 10 minutes to the rail station. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. The tables in the back garden are nicely located. We enjoyed the small bar. The restaurant (which we did not use) was busy throughout our stay. A very nice value hotel with nice staff.

Visited Canterbury with a friend who chose this hotel. The three selection criteria were: value hotel with car parking within walking distance of city centre. The Victoria delivered on all three. Rooms and service exactly what you should expect for the price. Rated as 5 on the basis of value for money.

We stayed here for a weekend and I must admit I regretted the choice. The hotel is OK, the room and the food were quite average but I appreciated the former to be very quite with a comfortable bed. We had continental breakfast and it was also far from exceptional. Pastries were actually a little stale. My real problem however was the distance to the city center: that 20 minute-walk can be a burden on a rainy day and if you are not much of a walker!

We booked 2 rooms and one we got an upgrade! The one room was fairly small but we were hardly there so it was ok. The second room was large and had a canopy bed which was very nice. The hotel was on the outskirts of town but was a nice walk into town. We didn't eat at the hotel as we were out and visiting the sites. Would stay again.

Stayed here for a visit to the cathedral and seaside resorts, very nice place to eat and drink, food was very good, not expensive rooms clean and functional. All in all a very good place to stay, would recommend

A quick 15minute walk into town, The Victoria was a really great find! Our room was very clean, with a large, comfortable bed and it appeared to have been fairly recently decorated (the ensuite looked very new) and although no air conditioning, we found a fan in the wardrobe which kept the room cool & comfortable at night. Disappointingly the curtains didn’t keep out all of the morning light from the sides of the windows, but otherwise no complaints. The staff were very friendly & helpful, the breakfast was delicious (recommend the cooked one!) and there is a well stocked bar. Will definitely return if ever we return to the area.

The Victoria Hotel is the place where you should stay if your are planning to visit Canterbury. The place itself is just enchanting but that its just the beginning. The location is perfect, It is just a 3 minutes walk to the city centre but you could spend as much as you want discovering the beautiful places in between the centre and the hotel. Staff members are great, always a viable to help you kindly and as quickly as possible. The food and beer are just great. Well what else can I say? i just love it.

A great place for a lunchtime carvery, parking excellent, the food was great and the service was also great, a great location, just off the main road into Canterbury, an easy to find hotel and close to the city centre which is a few minutes away
