Definitely a case of it does what it says on the tin, great value for money, plenty of parking on site although lots of abuse of the disabled spaces by the people to lazy to walk! Breakfast has now been changed and includes bacon although not sure why people moan when the breakfast is free. Air con worked well in the blistering heat. My only downside about staying here is the closet eating across the road at the table table (smugglers retreat) dreadful place so a walk to Minster is advised about 10min walk, there is a Chinese, Indian, sit in chip shop and pubs to choose from.
I arrived very late, 2:45 AM, the staff were very polite and helpful. The room is clean, with nice bathroom and great shower. easy to find and Located with easy access to main roads, ample parking on site and places to eat nearby.
Stayed here three times now for a short escape. We love Kent and this is a good central point to travel from to our favourite places in the area. The rooms are very clean and tidy and good value for money, with a good choice at breakfast time. The staff are very friendly and there is a concierge on duty all night, with lovely coffee on tap if you suffer from insomnia!!! The only downside I would say, is the rooms that are directly to the left of the entrance are low level, so tend to be quite noisy from revelers returning from a late night out. Otherwise a great little budget find as a base to explore the area.
This is a pleasant surprise. The hotel exceeded expectations at this budget level, yet proved to be as good as most and better than some. Look past the entrapped dirt on the stucco rendered art deco exterior and find an immaculate, very well equipped interior that even includes tea and coffee facilities in your room. Amazingly, breakfast is included in the very reasonable price and even includes full sized sausages, beans and scrambled eggs as well as the usual pastries, fruit and yogurts etc. Comfy beds, large T.V and free Wi-Fi and a lift, only serves to add to the great value. It has its own large free car park and a choice of eateries across the road. It's as good a spot as any to visit Kents best attractions too.
This is an excellent hotel. It is located on a busy junction, and the entrance is on Tothill Street, the road to Minster. If you overshoot on the A299, as we did our first approach, it's quite a long way to the next roundabout. The hotel looks a bit tatty from the outside, a lick of paint would do no harm. We learnt that the building used to be the old Prospect Inn, presumably in the 1930s, and the original Art Deco parts have been kept, with new bedrooms added. This works very well. One of the benefits of this site is that there is plenty of space, both externally car parking, and internally. When we were there over Easter, the hotel is full, and there was never a problem finding a parking space. Parking is also free. Both are becoming a rarity in the modern world, to find both together is very welcome. Inside, in contrast to the outside appearance, is smart and up-to-date. Reception staff were welcoming and check-in very quick. Our room was exactly as expected, not particularly large but perfectly adequate, well-equipped, clean with a good bed and quite reasonable sofa bed. The bathroom was also perfectly fine. Given the hotel's location on such a busy junction, some road noise was to be expected, but there was absolutely none. Full marks for this. Internally, the rooms seem to be well insulated from each other, and we had no issues with noise of any kind during our stay. The air conditioning controls seemed not to be working properly, but the room temperature was fine so we did not look into this further. We stayed for two nights, and therefore had two breakfasts. Breakfast is thoughtfully included in the room rate, which is a little higher than we would have expected for a budget hotel but on the other hand this had been a last-minute booking made just before Easter, and we were staying over the Easter weekend, and the rates were far lower than the few other local hotels that did have availability. The breakfast experience was really not bad at all. There is plenty of space in the dining area, which is in one of the old parts of the hotel. The serving area is right in the middle, and is a little tight for space especially when busy. We understand that changes are being made to improve this. There was quite a reasonable selection of hot and cold food, with particularly good sausages, and we understand bacon is to be introduced soon. The scrambled egg was not perfect, but we have also had much worse. The bread and chain-link toasters worked very well. Coffee from a machine was also perfectly acceptable (although not up to the standard that Wetherspoons manages in its budget breakfasts). Wifi is free, easy to use and quick. There is no restaurant other than for breakfast, and recommendations are made for Table Table restaurant at the Smugglers Retreat Premier Inn just across the road. There is a bar, and plenty of space in the reception area. Check out was very quick, despite the fact there were several people waiting to do so, because everything is prepaid. Overall this was a very good stay, an excellent hotel, and one would certainly return to. Full marks to Holiday Inn Express.
I am a very regular user of the IHG group of hotels with HIEx being possibly properties I most regularly book. The offer is almost always simple but friendly and sufficient for a short business stay. Sadly this hotel is let down, not by the friendliness and willingness to help of it's staff (well, almost all...), but by attention to detail. 1. On check in my Gold status was not recognised. I was not offered my choice of free drink or welcome points and my request for a late check out was greeted with quizzical looks by the man checking us in. Another member of staff quickly whispered to him that I should be offered a slightly later check-out. As I had not been recognised I mentioned it to the man checking me in who said that he 'always forgets to look at that'. A little bit of training needed. 2. Our room was on the second floor. Our room did not smell of smoke but the corridor did the entire time we were at the hotel. 3. Wi-Fi was not accessible in the bedrooms. The signal was too weak and none of our devices could connect. We called reception to check if there was a problem with the service and were told that the signal is often too weak in the bedrooms and people tend to come to the lobby to use the service. 4. Our bathroom sink had a substantial leak. We called reception who came to fix the problem (the same man who checked us in arrived in our room). It turns out that the sink had been unblocked the day before and the washer had been incorrectly replaced. 5. Breakfast: This was a very disappointing part of our stay. I am entirely familiar with the HIEx breakfast offer but was disappointed that, a) the hot chocolate had 'run out the other day' and had not been replaced. b) There was no bacon as 'it is our policy not to serve bacon here'. c) the milk had run out and the one person who could change it remained on the reception desk leaving us to wait for over 20 minutes after being told about the situation, rather than changing it. I had to go over and ask him to do so (he was struggling to change a customer's address in the computer system and continued with this leaving us waiting!). It transpired that the lady working the breakfast area (who was entirely professional and kind) had only recently joined the hotel and had not yet been shown how to change the milk. She had no idea why the hot chocolate had not been replaced or why bacon is off the menu. It is very rare that I give a low rating to any IHG property, but please HIEx Ramsgate Minster, polish up on these areas to bring yourself in line with the other hotels under the HIEx umbrella.
Stayed for one night as we had a party close by. We arrived before the official check in time and the staff were happy to accommodate us which was nice. Room was simple but very clean. Hotel provides complimentary WIFI and breakfast, however I didn't use either. Should I be in that part of the world again, I'd have no hesitation staying again.
Stayed for 1 night during Easter weekend. Hotel is located near the old Kent Airport. Even though it's located next to the busy road, my room was facing the back so it was quiet. Opposite the hotel there is Co-op and McDonalds. We also had dinner at the pub/restaurants. Check in was fast and we were given a twin room on the 2nd floor. The room was big with comfortable bed and clean. No bath, shower works well. Comes with a selection of firm or soft pillows. TV with all the necessary channels, hair dryer. Free fast internet. The only downside is our room was separated by a door and therefore we could hear the people next door to us. I think the soundproofing could be better. Breakfast was good and lots of choice. There was no bacon though. Lots of parking. Easy access to Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Margate (within 20-30 mins) drive.
This hotel is exactly as you expect from HIE with the rooms being almost identical to every other we've ever stayed in. The rooms are more than adequate, always clean and comfortable. What makes it great is it's location just off of the A299 a couple of minutes form the airport and about 10 minutes form the ferry terminal.
Easy to find and just a short drive from Ramsgate. Good value and clean pleasant rooms with free wi-fi. Friendly welcoming staff and a good breakfast buffet with plenty of choice. Adequate free parking on site.
