An unusual B & B, for starters you have your own front door key!, Very private family run English Guest House, here is an almost unnoticeable mid-terrace property in a Grand Edwardian Square which boast of the accomplished impressionist Dutch Painter Van Gogh as a former resident in the square. The accommodation is dated but on offer is crisp white linen and towels, tea and coffee in the rooms and a TV and hair dryer (to the joy of my Miss!). If you are lucky like I was, you would have a room with direct scenic view of the harbour coastline and the tennis court bang in the middle of the square. Parking is hit and miss, as there is free public parking around the square subject to availability. We managed to get parking space right in front of the hotel and our room which had a balcony. The sandy beach and harbour was barely 10 minutes walk on a lazy sunny day. There is an accomplished breakfast chef who serves a sumptuous breakfast fit for a Merchant Seaman and the breakfast alone is worth the trip. For those who want individuality and an affordable budget accommodation, this is it!

Cosy and quite little hotel very much enjoyed my self there lovely town and lovely little hotel just a short walk from town and the harbour and one of the largest weatherspoons I have come across well worth a trip down

On arrival the room wasn't "ready". When we were allowed in we were directed to wait in a dingy room for no apparent reason. That reason it eventually became clear was so that our payment could be taken. You need to tell people that you are taking their money, not just appear and hand them a receipt. The room itself although bright is dirty, there is no storage, the toilet seat is broken, the mattress is tired, there are few sockets, the tv is miles away and the wifi that was claimed to be "free for all" is non existent. When complaining we were informed that the owner isn't in this country and can't be contacted. Utter nonsense. Payment taken without seeing the room and with no mention of it being taken until I was handed a receipt. Carpet not hoovered. Carpet stained. Curtain stained. Chair with dangerous broken legs. Chair stained with bathroom sealant. Toilet seat broken. Shower cubicle dirty. Shower rail broken. Hangers broken. Table broken. Kettle limescaled. Mattress dead. Mirrors dirty. Ledges dusty. Bin lid dirty. No net curtains. No WiFi. Confirmation email mentions free WiFi in all areas. On the plus side breakfast was okay and the knackered mattress and divan provided a surprisingly good sleep.

Traditional Family Run B&B. Offer FREE breakfast. Owners are very welcoming. Allowed me to late check at 10:30pm! Very reasonably priced. Good if you are on a budget. Not for luxury seekers. Hope to visit again.

You pay for what you get! Budget hotel reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was delicious and large double portion and I didnt need to have lunch,. The accommodation is undergoing renovations and I had a new en-suite and sea view. There are many attractions nearby as the location was only 5 brisk minutes walk to the town harbour which was lined with restaurants. Find time to visit Ala Turk the Turkish restaurant for good food. Overall a nice stay for me

A low budget hotel offering good value for money. Impressive dated Edwardian building but the room I was in had a sea view and a new en-suite. There was tea & coffee and a TV with freeview channels. It does not operate a 24 hour reception but we were provided with our own front door key which was great given we were visiting the biggest Wetherspoon pub in the country located in Ramsgate! I was impressed with the crisp white bed linen and the friendly Staff on hand to check us in. I could not believe the 12 item hot to order breakfast which effectively cost £2.50 per person if booked with the reservation on line! Overall a positive experience for us returning on another visit

pictures from room no 1 checked in 11.am 2nights on the same night 22.30 checked out did not stay for breakfast stained walls stained carpets elec plugs hanging from walls no staff member after 21.30 all gone home filthy place ever stayed booking.com returned half of my money back

Positives:-location is lovely, bnb on a nice, quiet and clean square with tennis court & park. Short walk (7 mins) to harbour. Clean bed sheets, clean shower. Polite and courteous staff. Breakfast wasnt bad. Taxi to broadstairs only £5.50! Negatives:- dated decor, scuffs, dirty windows (bird poo and muck), tight eating area, poor quality mattress, old yellowing kettle, cobwebs in tiny wall-wardrobe, old trodden gum on bedroom floor, no fan, window wouldnt stay open, you can hear every time someone switches on their shower, no bbc1or2 signal(no big deal), poor or no views from breakfast area and bedroom window, waiting room uninspired, room not ready on arrival breakfast delayed(but extended checking out time to compensate), locks on doors poor quality - had to constantly twist and turn key to eventually get in room. Overall, not a 2 star, definately 1 star. Solution - a deep clean and huge makeover needed as the building has bags of potential. Only book if you dont care about quality and just need somewhere to get your head down for the night.

Turned up at this b&b the first impression were shock horror the gest waiting area was drity and run down the chairs were so dated you wouldn’t except to see what I saw when I enter the room it had a two chairs near the window and one had a drity Old was out throw on it on it which made me want to inch evey where had old dirty carpets the room was so dated it was like going back in time you could hear everything and to put the iceing on the cake as we was leaving we bump into some really lovely Young’s lads that had been locked out of the b&b they were just in the pub down town and had forgotten there Jacket that had the key init and they phoned the owner and he was ok about untill they tured up at the b&b and he refused to let them in and they had to go back to there van and sleep there for night they could of been arrested for drinking and driving even tho they didn’t and then the next day they went back and tried to get in to get there things and still wouldn’t let them in untill they got the key from the pub they payed to stay there for two nights it was a genuine mistake I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone 😞

What can I say ? It was only £40 and I don't want to be rude or self-indulgent. The view from my room was absolutely incredible. The square in which the B&B is is majestic , historic and stunning and this is a charming and quirky old house full of character but hasn't had any refurbishment or TLC in decades; It's friendly and clean enough and I slept well, but it took me time to get used to the room which though clean enough was musty, faded and badly in need of decoration. I did get cosy in front of The TV later though. The building is in a time warp and kind of intriguing but desperate for refurbishment. The young lady that welcomed me was lovely and down-to-earth, and the gentleman who I think was the manager was courteous and fairly welcoming, even offering me sandwiches to take away with me as I was leaving at 5.30am in the morning. I thought this was a wonderful gesture. I cannot comment on food or dining because I didn't see or experience any of those areas. One thing which mildly troubled/ intrigued me was being challenged for photo ID which I didn't really have so they just about passed me through with bank cards as proof of who I am. I don't recall experiencing this anywhere else, from memory, and I don't know what the law is on this or whether it's commonplace or not for B&Bs. This was mitigated fortunately because I'd already been in with a family member the day before who'd paid in there and then cash for my night.
