if this is your first and only accommodation in nepal, then you might find yourself enamored with the property's highly instagrammable traditional architecture. however, if you were lucky enough to have experienced other high-end hospitality services in the country, you will easily understand that under this thin veneer of "eco-friendly, authentic accommodation", there lays a pretty outdated, overpriced hotel.
Beautiful, tranquil hotel down a small back street in Thamel, the main tourist area. This place is a haven after a day of exploring the craziness of the city, the staff are so helpful and will happily help with suggestions of day trips, activities or even just booking taxis or guides. There are complimentary morning walking tours of the city and yoga on the rooftop. The restaurant serves excellent food. Decor wise it is very much in the style of a traditional Newari house but with touches like modern western style bathrooms. We also did a cooking lesson making momo with the hotels head chef, which was one of our favourite parts of our trip.
We stayed at Kantipur Temple House before and after treking to Everest Base Camp. Very hospitable. Excellent friendly staff.Beautiful traditional decor. Eco friendly and plastic free.Lovely garden and patio area.
It is an old building in Thamel like an oasis in this dusty chaotic city. We found this when doing a walk and noticed the lovely English gardens and thought this would be a great place for a lunch and it was. The staff is very nice.
If you visit Nepal will be a must to stay in a hotel with local Architecture, design, beatutiful decoration that will ggive the local taste and feeling of being in Nepal that you cannot get if you stay in modern city style hotel. We simply lover the style of hotel and the long corridors with wood carvings all over and the big internal yard. Room was spacious and very clean. Being an eco firendly hotle there is no fridge, TV and AC which for some might be an isuse but for our to night stay was not an issue at all. In the room was a fn and big window that you could open if hot. Very good location just few steps from the Thamel and around bars and resaurant in a safe and quite street. The only negative we found was the breakfast which need a lot of improvement as was very basic and not tasty with limited options. Nice terrace with garden to seat outside for drink or cofee in a hot day. Staff very very helpfull and always smilling,
- Building design is very long lasting - Warm welcome of shown for hospitality - Food was very good - Staffs are very helpful Two girl of frontdesk Sajana and Kriti are amazing and another gentleman suman . I also take pictures with them.
We stayed here before our EBC trek and found the location and facilities perfect. The breakfast buffet was great and they let us store our bags while we were away. When we came back to collect our bags we had a late night flight and the staff let us use their emergency room to shower and clean up before our flight for free. The staff truely go above and beyond! Thank you Kantipur Temple House, I would definitely recommend you to anyone staying in Kathmandu.
I have been 2 time I’m at this beautiful hotel. What I most liked is the feeling of living inside of a temple. It is a place of calming atmosphere middle of Thamel (most central part of Kathmandu). You can walk everywhere and visit all the temples around. Please don’t miss the organic food make every day with love. The staff are reality such a beautiful people. After a few days I felt like home. I felt they take care of me. Thank you for that so much! I definitely will come back soon!
It is an old building next to Thamel. It is an oasis in the chaotic city. It the best place to stay after the trekking to Everest Base Camp. The staff is very nice. The young man in the reception booked the fly to Lukla and managed to get the money back whem the returned fly was cancelled. They gave us a special price including the fabulous breakfast after the trekking. The room was very big, beautiful and comfortable. Everything was excellent.
The hotel, its concept and location are great. No plastic is allowed! Good location to start sightseeing tours. The staff is very friendly and caring 24/7. great local food and a very good breakfast available.
