Hotel has a small lift but a great breakfast spread. There is money changer just next to the hotel gate as well as good eateries nearby. room was rather small for a triple room with an extra bed squeezed into a double bed room but was OK as we stayed only 1 night and left early the next morning for Chitwan. Reception staff were helpful.
Early days just checked in at lunch time. Lovely lunch and wine - reasonable prices. Room is spacious with en-suite shower and toilet. Welcoming reception. Wi-fi struggled a bit but there was a rain storm. Good value for money !
Stayed twice for 4 nights then 3. First experience was a 2 rating and second a 3. Rooms on upper floors are more recently renovated. The Good? - great location - good security - easy for Intrepid departures The Bad? - really poor WiFi - towels like sandpaper - hot water took some time to kick in - average dining For Kathmandu it is reasonably good, but clearly not a 4. They could fix a couple of these things quite easily too.
Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. I recommend this hotel highly. Comfortable and perfectly appointed. I think our entire group enjoyed our stay here. Nice courtyard for sharing a beer! Great breakfast with omelet bar.
It was a very nice western style hotel. The hotel served a full buffet breakfast each morning, and had a very good selection of food for lunch and dinner. The rooms were comfortable, the showers had hot water, a luxury in Nepal, and the staff was very attentive to your every need. The location was convenient to markets, sights, and not too far from the airport. I had a great experience staying there.
This accommodation was semi arranged through intrepid tours four our hike as it was the starting and ending point so was easier to just stay in the hotel. Reasonable sized room however water was not hot (mildly warm) in shower or bath so was required to boil kettle to have a bath. Staff were polite and in particular a few that really went above to greet and be polite and have a genuine interest. Overall a reasonable stay however disappointing with shower and bath particularly coming back after a trek
First the good things: 1. Location is good, in the heart on Thamel shopping district - very lively and easy to get transportation. Some important tourist sites are at a walking distance. 2. The staff are friendly and helpful. 3. There's a pretty courtyard to hangout and eat. 4. Rooms and toilets are neat with hot water. 4. Complimentary drinking water is provided in bottles. The cons: 1. The tea/coffee sachets, soap, shampoo, etc.. are not replenished if you stay multiple days. - you get them only once - that's it. 2. Face towels are old and discolored as are some bed linen 3. The restaurant provides very limited options in the lunch/dinner buffet 4. The tea cups in the restaurant often have tea/coffee stains. They can be better cleaned. 5. Sleep wasn't good due to loud noises in the neighboring area.
Hotel Marshyangdi is a wonderful place to stay. The location is brilliant and the service at the hotel is first class. The staff members are all very friendly and will do anything to help you. Sita, Deepika, Subash and Prahlad we’re particularly helpful and always greeted me with a smile. They provided a great level of service and they were able to help me with lots of very helpful advice. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making my stay a great one. I strongly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Kathmandu.
I stayed here in Nov 2018 while in transit to Lukla. Location of the hotel is great, food at the hotel is above avg but little pricey. Breakfast is slightly above avg with the option for omelet cook to order. Staff is very helpful and helped with minor medical needs that I had encountered. It seems that the hotel is undergoing some renovations/upgrade. Cleanliness need a little more work as the sheets on one of the bed seems to be dirty. Probably would stay here in the future if I return.
We were shown a room on the front of the hotel, just back from Everest base camp and looking forward to a shower and a good warm sleep. Fell asleep at Eight, woken up at eight thirty by thumping music from the bar immediately in front of the hotel. By nine I couldn’t stand it even with ear plugs, reception found us a room at the back of the hotel. Much better! If you want to sleep, don’t accept a room at the front.
