We had decided to travel off beat in Thailand. Dheva Mantra property is very Beautiful. Lush Green and right on River Kwai. But the service level is poor. The property is way off from the city and there is no transportation to go from there to the city. They charge 250 Bhat for drop off which is 3 times more than the usual rate. The steam is also charged and is Sauna. I have seen this for the first time in a Spa Hotel.
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Dheva for three beautiful nights, and during the day we rented a car and road tripped around Kanchanaburi. Coming back to the Dheva in the evening was amazing. Great breakfast (except the coffee), luxurious design and architecture, and staff that helped with anything we needed. It was my girlfriends birthday and the staff brought over a special cake to our room. We had a beautiful view of the river, and at night we would crack open the balcony doors and sleep to the soundtrack of nature. The most relaxing sleep I've had in a long time. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to try out the pool since we were gone all day, but we'll definitely be back. Thank you so much for a great stay, I'm recommending everyone to stay here!
Excellent rooms with a beautiful surrounds, the river on the side and the swimming pool is magnificent. Very quite and peaceful and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet is ok but not in league compared to other 5 star hotels. But being a hotel in the hillside its very filling and good choices.
We spent four nights here in August...Very welcoming staff...The hotel is beautiful, the room was lovely..facing the pool..large and comfortable..The balcony was lovely . The pool is beautiful, good temperature and pool bar is nice to have..Really cannot complain at all...We found the drinks a bit steep if staying for the day by the pool..it soon mounts up..stayed in many hotels now in Thailand, price was, it was a bit high for certain drinks... Restaurants okay...not top of my list, but reasonable..price again quite high for what it is...I guess most people thought the same thing, unless they prefered eating out as each time the restaurants were empty..had both restaurants to ourselves on both evenings we ate there..(once in each restaurant) I think if we choose this hotel again, we would most likely eat out...not a good choice for a child there food wise either..Other than restaurants to be honest it is a lovely hotel...we knew where it was located as checked before we left..yes, not that close to the town, but I purposely chose a hotel out of it a bit..I was pleased as didn't see a hotel as pretty as this one in the area..might well be some, but didnt see them..Thank you for having us..very happy
The hotel decorated in Colonial style where you feel like living in the garden. Staffs are good manner and helper. Breakfast are delicious & variety. Swimming pool are large. I love the room very much it large and decorated with wood. Bathroom are both rain shower and bath tub with hot and cold water. Full amenity in the room such as drinking water, safety box, toiletry, hair dryer.
Great hotel compound and well kept facilities. Very spacious rooms. Staff are friendly. But room interior can be improved. TV channels are limited. Bathroom amenities totally lacking, no robes, slippers and toothbrush etc.
The Dheva Mantra Resort is situated a bit away from the city , but still it's aplace to stay in The rooms are huge, with wodden porches with a view of tropical woods and places with animals like bunnies, you sit in the evenings and you can hear the crickets/ Beautiful and relaxing spot
Slightly odd experience at this hotel. Good Lovely location Great pool (saltwater) Spacious rooms Cheap minibar Excellent Thai restaurant Excellent food on room service Bad Moderate breakfast Location too far from town? Service a little ropey Rooms a little tired Not got the touches you'd expect from a 5 star As my wife said 'it's not the centara' - we'd just spent a week at the Centara Grand Hua Hin. She is right but it was less than half the price and you pay extra for good! We could forgive this hotel it's faults as we had an epic trip to Kanchanaburi
We stayed at the Dheva Mantra for 2 days. We didn't spend all day in the hotel, however, because we were out sightseeing. Good Points: Swimming Pool-Good Temperature, Swim-up bar, Saltwater pool, pretty. Room Service-Very tasty, quick arrival. Minibar-Very cheap!!! Bad Points: Breakfast-Not much variety, only two cold drink options, omelettes smell like rotten eggs? Wildlife-Because of its location, you may find some creatures decide to come into your room, even on the upper floors. Check under your beds at night! Shower-The shower, wherever you put the handle will quickly go from boiling to freezing with no control or warning! Bath-Takes about an hour to fill up!
I have very mixed feelings about this hotel. It is beautiful, for sure. It seems to want to be a 5-star luxury resort but they miss the mark on so many levels. Although the employees seem to try hard, the service can be very spotty and inconsistent. Although my room was fairly affordable, everything else costs a premium here, from a 250 Baht for ride to city (although I am not sure if this is round trip or one way as I was only charged once on my bill... for comparison, taxis were 100-120 one-way, so 250 would not be unreasonable for a round-trip at all) to a local phone call that cost more than had I made it on international roaming with my American cell phone. The positives-- the grounds are absolutely beautiful and well-maintained. The pool is massive, clean, and has a swim up bar with 2-for-1 at happy hour from 5-7pm. If you have kids and want access to a pool, this place can't be beat. There were multiple restaurants that looked appealing, but I ate in town each night. The biggest negative of this hotel is the location. I was mislead by many other tripadvisor reviews stating the location is good... this is ONLY if you have your own car or plan to make minimal trips into Kanchanaburi. It is otherwise quite far from the city, and you'll end up paying quite a bit to make trips back and forth. All-in-all... it's a nice, beautiful, clean hotel that tries hard but needs to make some improvements to truly justify its cost and status as a luxury resort. You certainly won't be upset if you stay here, but make sure it's right for you in terms of location and price.
