The Westin Resort, Costa Navarino5.0 out of 5.0

I selected this property because of of its nearness to sights I wanted to see, such as, Olympia, Palace of Nestor, Pilos, etc., and my status with SPG. It's location on coast is incredible. It is very difficult to find. My GPS/Google Maps was very confused in this area of Greece. It didn't help that there is absolutely no signage to the property or letting you know you've arrived at the property. The security guard at the gated entry told me this was the entrance to the Westin. Who'd of known? Their business model is probably quite profitable for them. Attract a clientele who are upscale (high end golfers), isolate them so there are no competing restaurants or other service and charge what the market will bear. For such a large resort there are few places to eat. Given the quality of the facility, the food doesn't match for the price which must be paid. A burger can cost 21 Euros, an order of toast - 9 Euros. A glass of good red wine, 17,5 Euros for 250 ml. It's quality was slightly better than the vin ordinaire i'm buying with dinner here in Athens that goes for 5.5 Euros for 500 ml. But, the best was the laundry. I'd been traveling for over two weeks and needed to wash a t shirt, 10 pair of socks and 10 pair of shorts. I called the Concierge to ask the where about of a local laundromat. I was told there were none. I said I didn't want to pay the prices I saw on the laundry slip in the room, 4 Euros for a pair of socks. He said they would give me a 25% discount. I said, "no thanks". I was then told, because of my status, they would make it very reasonable. I relented. When my clean laundry arrived it was neatly sorted and folded. All I wanted was that it be clean. It could have been thrown in a bag that was tossed into the washer, then the dryer and returned to me in the bag. Nothing fancy. They did give me a big discount. My bill was ONLY 55.50 Euros and not 110 Euros it could have been if they hadn't thought so much of me because of my loyalty. Now, I expect, will come the tedious, patronizing explanation about how I just don't understand.
A must 'try' even for just one day - night! For couples (perfect for a romantic getaway, if not the Westin, surelly the Romanos) aswell for families (waterslides, sea, activities, everything for the parents to relax and the young ones to enjoy themselves) Don't think about the money you'll spend (and trust me, you will). Think about the memories you'll get!!! Just perfect!
We travelled there as a family of four (two teenage boys) in August 2017. It is a large resort with two hotels we stayed at the Westin. It was spotlessly clean, the service was great, and the restaurants were worthy of a place in the West End! The Japanese was exceptional in respect of the food, the setting and the service. One criticism the sun loungers are the most uncomfortable in the world! Shame as the rest was amazing. PS Golf charges very reasonable
Came back recently from a truly wonderful Greek half term getaway at the magnificent Westin Resort, Costa Navarino. Some of the +'s and -'s of the experience below. Only based on a couple of small points was this not a 5/5 week for us. + Had read great reviews before and had high expectations but was still blown away with the beauty of the area, set up of the resort, quality of the arrangements, food/restaurants, staff and programme / overall package. + It was a truly stunning place and could not recommend enough to anyone enough. + Was told the venue was nearly full and yet was so quiet and full of peace and tranquility, so many ideas and options for activities and sports and leisure each day for adults and also our 2 teenage boys. + Weather was lovely at early/mid 20's and just lovely. + played a few rounds of golf and courses were truly stunning, expensive, but stunning and driving arrange and clubhouse were beautifully set up and overseen. + nice local cooking tour and also olive oil experience which were well delivered and engaging - a couple of restaurants closed early as end of season which was slightly disappointing - felt a couple of the day-time eateries should have been opened for dinner options for less formal and extra optionality - Prices and food quality at "The Diner" restaurant (near waterslides) were unacceptable. EUR10 for a kids milkshake is simply taking advantage of a captured audience (!) and burgers were inedible - disappointingly out of sync with rest of Resort in both quality of food and general overpricing approach - despite our room (family suite) being absolutely stunning with a wonderful view overlooking the sea and pools, it took a repeated call each day to reset air conditioning and on two nights we found out interconnecting rooms overheated to an unpleasant level. Crazy that we couldn't self administer temp controls but had to ring down each day to over-ride temp controls on a room. Despite the above - this is one of the nicest resorts I've ever stayed and is up with the Breakers in Florida, Sandy Lane in Barbados for us where we have also stayed. Well worth time for a very special time as couple/family etc.
Breakfast buffet as well as dinner buffet in main restaurant was very good. Much better value for dinner than the Italian Luigi and Flame at the golf club house. The Japanese restaurant was unfortunately closed for the season when we visited. Both golf courses are very good but not ideal if you want to walk. The staff at Dunes very helpful. We experienced some stress on the course as players behind did not accept the fact that we had to wait for players in front of us. Not as friendly atmosphere as we have experienced on other courses. We played 7 rounds in total. Good tennis court but the rental equipment not of very high standard. The hotel promoted a sports gear rental service (especially shoes) that did not work well at all. They had very limited availability in most sizes. We had even asked in advance about the service and the concierge had confirmed that we would be able to rent gear. We basically had to keep asking as they did not have a good system for keeping track of requests sizes. Lucky for us we had some other shoes with us. Nice beach and good heated pool. No pool for swimming exercise though. The gym was quite ok but the class I tried was not the best. I only tried one though. The rooms were nice and clean and had good standard. We had connecting rooms, a Family Suite connected with a Deluxe Room (Twin Bedded), which was perfect for us as a family with two children.
The Westin Costa Navarino was the perfect hotel for our family vacation! The hotel is a beautiful 5 star resort on a lovely beach in a relatively undeveloped coastline of Greece. The resort is full of activities for kids and adults, and there are so many things to do and try. Plus, the surrounding area is full of beautiful nature, scenic villages and historic sites. The resort is incredibly spacious, with winding paths through stone buildings, pools and gardens. Plus, there is a very nice "town center" with several outdoor restaurants in an open plaza. We stayed in a wonderful suite, with plenty of room for the whole family (parents and two young kids). The service was also very friendly, and our kids got lots of kindness and attention. As soon as we got home, we were already planning another trip!! We can't wait to go back!
I wrote a review below but had to take the first one down a strip advisor made me (no sure how) Anyway I have put it again below but removed some comments. After the below review I was contacted several times by the management to discuss my comments (creepy) Anyway, at the end of the holiday the manager said they would remove my food bill at the pool bar and room service and refund the beech bar food. I didn’t ask nor expect anything to be knocked off the bill but he offered it so I accepted. Initially they knocked off the beech bar (£140) and one pint of beer (£9). I wasn’t going to accept this so after several weeks of going backwards and forwards they eventually knocked off another £90! The total cost on my room service and the pool bar was well over £1000, closer to £2000. No doubt the management will write a response to this and say they did what they promised etc but it is a complete lie. I shall never ever stay at another Westin. After this holiday I went to the Belmond Residencia in Majorca - now THAT is 5 star! Also stayed in many Oberio’s etc - all cheaper than this place a 100 times better. Anyway here’s my initial review; Costa Navarino I want to go home. 521357644 Having stayed in many 5 star hotels this certainly is NOT. I am on my second day and so far the food has been terrible. The frozen sandwich they just served my wife at the pool bar was a joke. The chips were oven cooked. My Grandma makes better food and she's senile. I don't expect squeezy ketchup bottles on the table but that's being pedantic. They forgot our drinks and my wife's food was served before she'd finished making the order. They play music loudly all day, and by music I mean mainly 90's pop sung by some random Spanish acapella group. I have nearly been run over by the staff (whilst pushing my 8 month old daughter) driving the golf buggies around corners at 1000 mph 3 times. I shall be wearing a crash helmet and full leathers for the rest of my time here. Don't believe the hype - this is not an amazing place to come to.. This trip will set me back nearly £6000 by the end of it! I can go to my favourite hotels on the Amalfi coast for half that! And they serve edible food!!! The beach restaurant was shocking. All fried (admittedly we opted for four appetisers to share and probably made the wrong choice) however my local chip shop serves better calamari and where I live there's no ocean in sight!! If you want a semi decent bottle of wine expect to pay £60-£80. A shocking poolside lunch is nearly £80 for two sandwiches and a glass of wine. We paid extra for a premium infinity pool. Thank god because if we want some peace and quiet we can come back to the room and take a dip. The pools are nice but freezing cold so sadly our daughter won't step foot in them. Maybe I'm being hasty and my experience will improve during the rest of my stay. I shall report back at the end of my trip, but if I don't I've probably been run over and killed by a maniac buggy driver during one of their qualifying heats.
Received a complimentary Upgrade into a very spacious suite - room and view were amazing. The service of all employees was magnificent. The icing on the cake was the access to the beautiful beach area. Breakfast and dinner left nothing to be desired - a huge choice of deliciacies on offer. Thank you for this remarkable experience!
Can you imagine the perfect hotel including everything you would want from 6 pools to an enormous beach, nothing can be better. I was very lucky to visit this hotel when I won a competion making this hotel free
My hat off to some remarkable staff members of The Westin Resort that made our trip enjoyable and memorable. George Kollitiris who works in the restaurant 1827. Go Go,and Christina of the concierge. Maria and Evi of the Front desk and four of the most amazing of the staff from transportation is Alexandros and Dionisis, and Shaqir. The knowledge of the staff at this amazingly beautiful and breathtaking Resort is astonishing. They suggested places to visit, dining and things to do on and off the property. I will certainly visit Greece again and return to this resort again also.
