Beautiful home in epic Joshua tree, close to the park and nestled in the desert. Beautiful bathrooms, cute kitchen, cozy beds. But… pretty pricey so we had some expectations, not the least of which was that I’d have functional utilities, be able to cook and use a clean hot tub. The thermostat didn’t work; we communicated for two days with property mgmt, had someone come out to address the issue and though it was indeed warmer the final night of our stay, we had to use sleeping bags and space heaters the first two nights, and still had no control to adjust the temp the final night. There were no directions on how to operate things, no house binder, etc. We had unnecessary confusion with the electric fireplace, the thermostat, the hot tub (which was disturbingly foamy whilst the jets ran, and then left a black scummy film on my back and chest), and the electric stove (gave up trying to boil water for the pound of pasta I’d hoped to make after 15 minutes on ”9,” the highest setting for the big burner). Managemnt sent us YouTube videos on the thermostat and fireplace after we struggled the first night with a house that was 53 degrees. Beautiful place, but not ready for rental. Mgmt needs to work out the kinks, equip renters with necessary info, replace stove, and thermostat and clean the hot tub.
