My wife and I stayed at this hotel on New Year's eve 2018 to celebrate the occasion. We have done the same in many hotels all over the world. This was the worst experience I ever had. The service both on the pool deck as well as over dinner in the main restaurant was a disaster. People were simply not qualified to interact with customers. On top of this lousy service there were not enough people to serve the guests. The dinner was a disaster as well. I would only send my worst enemy to have lamb at this restaurant. Never again.
We spent one night there before our flight back to Europe. We were 3 (couple + kid) and booked a suite, which was well appointed. We also asked for late check out which worked well for no charge. Really the drawback of this hotel is the restaurant. We had Dinner, and then a lunch at the pool the day after. On both time, extremely long waits (45 min to 1h, for an empty restaurant), got the wrong orders, and the food was not tasty at all. This place has a problem with their restaurant and the associated service.
Booked a number(5) of rooms for NYE to bring in 2018. On arrival we were told to put a deposit to open our credit to charge to room which was done but on the restaurant bill this was not reflected. A late lunch at Vivace was average, the rib eye at 285 was overcooked at first attempt and redone under on next. Pork belly had no crackling and was close to burnt as well as the chicken schnitzel. Overpriced average food. Rooms were clean but shower was a hand shower hostered up! Down pillows were uncomfortable. The actual pool party was which was booked and paid for in advance was not set up for us. Drinks were locked up, no lighting on corner seating area for an area of 18 people. Not enough mixers on drinks, misadvertised party of note! In addition as guests of hotel we were charged entrance to the party when others guests were free. Pricing on drinks very high. Breakfast back at the restaurant was slow, one person on eggs taking 10-15 wait. Replacement of finished buffet items had to be requested. Plates being cleared without asking. Lack of management throughout the stay was evident. All in all for what is advertised as 5 stars is no way close.
Efficient check in after a long night flight and it was great to have rooms ready for a shower and quick turn around. The rooms are spacious enough with good views across the city. Nice large bathroom with both bath and shower and the only thing missing really was a towelling robe. The usual gripe about not having sockets close enough to the bed to charge your phone near enough to also snooze your alarm, but the bonus of having a UK socket on the desk was great. Good housekeeping and level of cleanliness. The rooms are also well insulated and quiet. The restaurant offers a really good breakfast with lots of choice from the buffet plus cooked to order items. Dinner was also excellent and the service polite. The concierge service on the ground floor was excellent. They helped arrange a fantastic tour during our day off and were very helpful with taxis when the free bus was on a break. All in all a good comfortable base that is walking distance to Nelson Mandela Square and the mall and I would be happy to return.
Friendly staff and quick check in. Comfortable hotel and nice pool area. Check in staff didn’t acknowledge club carlson gold status nor did they offer any perks for gold members. Average stay all in all.
One of my favorite business hotels around Sandton area. Modern design true to Radisson Blu style, spacious rooms, big beds, amazing gym! Was recently back after a long break and enjoyed my stay though couldn't help but notice that I could hear the conversations/TV from the room next door. That bit was very annoying and remember sleeping with ear plugs a couple times.
Modern, contemporary, luxurious. The rooms are spacious, clean and more than comfortable.Unfortunately, the service does not match up to the ambience nor the Radisson name in the least.Unhelpful, unprofessional staff and management.Sheer disappointment!
Reception guys were not professional and competent and when i asked them for my club carlson account details , they didnt knew anything . They didnt even had courtesy to leave guest till room when i checked in , instead i was told Room no is on my card and i can find my way :( . Everything else was good .
This has been my second visit to the hotel. The hotel has a great ambiance, well located. The room was spacious, inclusive of a nespresso machine and all other essentials. I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and the gym!
On arrival the hotel upgraded us due to my partners 60th celebrations - we had booked 2 rooms for 3 travellers, and they gave us a 3 bed penthouse apartment. This was a lovely and unexpected surprise. The accommodation was superb, the pent house floor centred around an indoor garden space and breakfast and early evening snacks were served in a private lounge. Food and drink quality was exceptionally good with a wide variety of choice and eggs cooked to order. The apartment consisted lounge, dining room, kitchen office space and downstairs loo. On the upper floor (2 flights up) were 3 double bedrooms with wardrobe rooms, baths, showers and toilets for each room! One side of the apartment was glass so views across the city were amazing. You may think we had arrived in paradise, but sadly not. The whole experience was badly let down by the poorest customer service I have experienced in all of my travels. Never have I had either staff or the duty manager arguing with me or suggesting I and my party were to blame for their ineptitude. We checked in at around 9, and our lovely Go-Vacation local (for Kuoni) had left Champaign in our original room. The hotel had list it, because they had put it in the wrong room anyway and then not moved it with our upgrade. This was apparently our fault according to the lecture received from the manager. Our apartment had one glass, and 2 teacups for the 3 of us. After 3 calls to housekeeping this turned up 2 hours later, we had to use these for drinking as well as teeth cleaning! Little touches were missing such as flannels, and tissues which appeared on day 2. Our biggest problem was the luxury 6 person 3 bathroomed accommodation was fitted with 1 hairdryer, permanently wired into bedroom 2. When I requested another I was told I couldn’t have one as it was 1 per room (despite our 3 double rooms,) In order to get a second hairdryer i made 5 calls and eventually had to insist on speaking to the duty manager. It finally arrived at 2 minutes to midnight! So in conclusion, lovely accommodation, great food, but don’t expect responsive or always polite customer service. Expect the staff to argue with you or not take responsibility and you’ll be fine. In concluding and to end of a positive, I should say there is an exception - the concierge was lovely and they could learn a thing for two from him! Such a pity as it could be so perfect!
