This was our third visit to this hotel and previously we had enjoyed our stays. This visit was so very disappointing. The overall feeling was one of the staff and management 'Could not care less'. We arrived by hire car and had to wait whilst an argument was happening between a member of staff and guest. My husband then had to get out of the car and ask where we should park! The lobby was dark and miserable due to refurbishments taking place and the restaurant area was so dark, that you could not hardly see the breakfast choice. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and we were due to stay again for our last night in South Africa - so much were we disappointed, that we cancelled our reservation.
This establishment was a great disappointment. It was a second choice during a busy conference season with all hotels fully booked. The rooms were very mediocre and corridors smelt of cigarette smoke. They no longer make a Kir Royale and you have to explain the ingredients to the barista. The keys kept jamming which meant frequent trips to the reception to get it reset. The breakfast was limited as far as healthy options were concerned and the dining menu was even more restrictive, dull and over priced. The shuttle service to and from the conference venue was erratic and driver courtesy inconsistent. Not an enjoyable experience to say the least.
Friendly efficient check in. Comfortable, clean rooms with excellent views over the Sandton area. Excellent buffet breakfasts catering for worldwide tastes and preferences. Two restaurants in this hotel. Very popular with international business people
This is in the heart of Sandton. A short and safe walk at any time of day to the Gautrain, the airport train, and to nearby Sandton Mall. Some great views from the high floors. Super in house gym; Planet Fitness Platinum Decent food and a good pool deck. Great laundry service. The basic rooms are good enough; just have not been renovated recently. Good TV with all the sports and a few movie channels. Being renovated as of June '17, so bar and restaurant a bit limited.
I'm quite surprised by a number of the reviews of the hotel as my experience was not good. A business hotel only really needs to provide a couple things, namely a decent bed with comfortable pillows and a good shower with strong water pressure. On both these counts my room (1605) missed. The water pressure was terrible, and the door wouldn't close. The bed was sagging on the left side (I am assuming the majority of travellers sleep on this side). The pillows were terrible offering no support. The fittings in the bathroom were also looking somewhat tired, hanging out of the wall or mounted skew. On one of the days my room was serviced and the dirty towels removed but not replaced with fresh towels. Wifi was slow, often disconnecting. Only thing I enjoyed about this hotel was its situation. Johannesburg traffic is diabolical, but this hotel is close enough to Sandton to avoid most traffic. Also you are mostly going against traffic during rush hour if meeting outside of Sandton. A major reason I chose this hotel was for the gym facilities which looked excellent (My schedule ended up being to hectic to accommodate a training session).
This was a home away from home. the room was great, the service was great and the view was impeccable. The food was also very good. I like the security futures of the hotel. The rides to the mall made my stay in SA easy.
Very friendly staff and management team, very well located, under cover parking available, indoor swimming pool and gym, clean rooms and toilets, house keeping is very friendly and helpful, good security, free internet connection.
Location is super, room was amazing view specially I was in floor 21 and room facilities are excellent fully equipped. I do recommend it besides the food variety is great. Only early check was not good as we stayed 2 hours without rooms and we were flying for 8 hours and fasting so it was harmful.
Good service and excellent location but breakfast could be better and check in easier. good rooms with view and cosy interiors overall a good experience. would recommend to other guests too a must stay for sure.
Very accommodating reception, booked two rooms and one was upgraded to suite. Do not miss breakfast, best we had. Found that the executive breakfast room was to hot due to the big glass windows . Great view.
