Highly recommend the fillet steak & Vodka Martini Chocolate desert Reasonably priced and great service BAR Large selection and, again reasonable prices. Round unusual seating areas. Sport TV in main part of bar but not too loud. STAFF Reception- Always someone there and friendly Restaurant and Bar- efficient and friendly Cleaning- Good standard Lady in Souveir shop --Lovely !!
On work in South Africa for a couple of months and we made it back to joburg most weekends, the crown plaza is in a perfect location for restaurant S and bars as well as shopping. It is easy to get to and is safe. My tip would be to ask for a room in the north tower as the bathrooms are bigger. Downstairs the breakfast is great and the coffee shop is a must most mornings
Very nice hotel with lovely staff. Right from check in everything was great. Room was clean, bed comfortable and bathroom well appointed. Only downside was the Soweto tour organised by the hotel was on a day when all the museums were closed, a rarity according to our driver. Certainly not the hotel's fault and price discounted accordingly. Short walk to Rosebank Mall with what looks like locally funded security on the streets.
This hotel is modern and well maintained. The location is perfect for the Rosebank area - at a comfortable walking distance from the shopping mall and the Gautrain station. My room was very functional with good wi-fi, a fridge, a working space, nice bathroom and a comfortable bed. Excellent sound proofing. Service was very good all-through. The gym is a bit smallish but good - and is connected to the outdoor pool which also has a nice sun terrace. The restaurant (CUTs) is somewhat pricey but serves gourmet meat. There was also a good business centre (which nowadays often is lacking) where I could print, scan and send documents, supported by professional staff. Breakfast was abundant, with generous opening hours and tasty. (Except - maybe this time - for the fruit which was not ripe and hence more like vegetables.) Room for improvement: (a) the bathroom lacks a hand-held shower, would be appreciated (b) the room was somewhat dark due to the light setting of a (mainly) spot type. This is a drawback when you need good illumination when there is no daylight - like when packing.
I recently stayed in this hotel with a small group; we had 3 rooms. Please be advised when you request a double room you will get 2 twins pushed together. This was so in Cape Town & Mauritius Islands, so I guess it is a thing in that region. Anyway, our stay was nice. There was a wonderful pregnant lady who helped me with my boarding passes as the business center was closed. She was excellent!!! In the morning we were traveling early, and the hotel had a good bagged breakfast. As we were seated in the lobby and awaiting our transportation; two in the group placed our luggage outside - far away from any other luggage. The bell person took our bags and placed in a van. The mistake was caught quickly and I alerted the front desk personnel. The staff acted as if there was nothing they could do... they did not even offer an apology. I informed them that we were making another travel stop before we go home. A young male front desk worker said (without another plan of action) that he was sure the bags will be returned and they will be mailed to our hometown. I told him that was not an option as I had absolutely no clothes but what I was wearing. I asked if they could call the last transportation service that left. Thank God they did and our luggage was identified. The transportation service was going to the same airport we were going to so we got our luggage at the airport.
The hotel has comfortable rooms and is centrally located near the Rosebank Mall. Very clean and the breakfast is great. When making a booking you must make sure that breakfast is included in the rate, which changes constantly. The website is very misleading in advertising room rates. Airconditioner was not effective.
Stayed at the hotel for a week during a business trip earlier this month. Great location...within walking distance of the Rosebank mall and restaurants. The area is also relatively safe and walking from the hotel to the mall even after dark is normally not an issue. The rooms are nice and large and if you're lucky you will get a good view of the Jo'burg skyline in the distance. The bathroom is a little cramped though. They have two types of bathrooms one with the shower and another with a bath tub. I had the one with a shower and it was quite cramped. I faced some issues with water clogging at the shower drainage which the hotel staff promptly resolved when i told them...however a couple of days later it surfaced again. They have a nice breakfast laid out on the ground floor every morning with a good choice of food. The bar inside the hotel is pretty good as well and the staff are really friendly. Overall had a nice and comfortable stay
Our stay here was simply amazing. Classy, clean, big on service, should be a 5* instead of a 4*. One of the finest we have stayed at. The entire team were so helpful and efficient. Would highly recommend it to everyone who visits the area. Well done to the Manager and his team. Kind regards Ben and family
An hour's drive from the airport. Comfortable rooms of good size. No longbath. 24hr gym on ground floor next to infinity pool. 2 treadmills. Smoking area between pool and gym. All the gym sliding doors were opened in the afternoon. As such smoker's smoke enters the gym. Had to terminate my run. Anyway only 20min time limit on the treadmill. Free wifi of good strength in room. Kettle with coffee/ tea facilities. Empty minibar. Good b'fast spread at Fresh restaurant at lobby.
As our Johannesburg base for two nights, it was a good, clean hotel. It is a business hotel with conferences going on the two days we were there. Rooms were the smallest on our trip with a tiny bathroom. Food was good. They have a pretty pool area, a wide open, very busy lobby, and a nice bar (they were pretty much closed for 2 private events while we were there) As a business hotel, their business center was pretty inadequate with 3 computers (new monitors, older computers) Location is central with a large shopping mall close by.
