Once arrived, the staff's courtesy made us feel immediately at home. The rooms are modern, clean and full of every comfort you need. There is also a well equipped gym and at the rooftop you can enjoy rich meals with an amazing 360' view of the city.

From outside, the building looks impressive but failed once you step in the property. Oldish room, decoration feels like the 70's. Rooms are not bright enough, club floor serves reheated food and very poor selection. Not the place to go back for sure. Chinese restaurant is very local. Top floor where there is a revolving restaurant looks more like a tourist spot. Gym is again looking like a 70's place.

We used the long weekend in May to leave Beijing. As we were not in the mood for a long flight we took the 100 minutes train down to Jinan. We were looking for a nice hotel and the Sofitel was on top of the list. The location is fantastic, interesting places can be reached on foot. Also they have a swimming pool. From the West Train station it takes about 30 minutes to get to the hotel. We arrived late at 9pm and still many counters were staffed. We used the members checkin and were informed about a free upgrade. Communication was a bit difficult due to the English level but we managed. After the checkin we were told that there is a special offer, for about RMB 250 a night we could upgrade to lounge access including breakfast. Breakfast alone would have been around 200 RMB, we took the deal. There are 2 sets of lifts, to get to the high rooms the right lifts have to be taken. Leaving the lift, you have to look carefully for the room number sign, otherwise you end up going in the wrong direction. The lifts are also not the fastest ones. The room was fantastic, really a huge place with a great view to the 1000 Buddah mountain. With the AC, the temperature was great. Also a bathroom with bathtub as well as shower cubical and the usual Sofitel shower creams. Beds were very comfortable. No noise from the street. Breakfast was either in the lounge or in the restaurant, rotating views, one round about 2 hours. Make sure to sit right in the beginning to have the nice view for the breakfast. Usual breakfast choices, western as well as eastern style. Coffee was good, hot chocolate a bit tasteless. After asking, Perrier sparking water was served. English level of waitresses to be improved. Lounge is huge and not crowed. They have good red wine and the food for dinner was really tasty. Good choices and a mix of western and eastern food. We also tried the bar in the ground floor, Tsingdao beer and not too special, but staff was very friendly here. As we were on a leisure trip we used the pool as well. It is a lot smaller than on the photos, you cannot real swim lanes. There are a lot people in there learning to swim. It can be noticed that most of those guests, incl the many kids, enter the pool without taking shower first and nobody stops them, should be improved. Also crawling a bit on the back revealed that the swimming hall needs redecoration, the colour comes of the walls. We also had some goggles so we could see under water, unfortunately what we saw was not nice, the water was really dirty. Checkout was easy again and the taxi returned us to the train station. Generally very good value for money, main reason for the downgrade is the English level of the staff (fully aware it is difficult in those cities) and the condition of the pool. Especially the latter has to be improved.

I travel 20 days a month around the world so I see all kinds of hotels. This hotel is great in so many ways. Not only a great location as can be seen from the revolving restaurant on the 49th floor, but great food, quiet comfortable air conditioned rooms with above average decor and fittings. All staff at every level are kind, warm and friendly, they are genuinely wanting to ensure you a perfect experience in their wonderful hotel. Full marks in every aspect.

Traveled with family for a quick trip to Jinan. Although I have been to Jinan for many times, but this is the first time stay with Sofitel Jinan. Check-In Check-Out: I notified the hotel during the booking process for an early check in around 10:00 AM, and mentioning the need of baby cot. All these requirements have been settled prior to the check in and everything went smoothly. The front desk crews are very professional and effective, and pretty welcoming. When I raised the request for late check out at 13:00, they accommodated the request as well. Thanks for that we can have a shower before departure. Food and beverage: As some comments here mentioned, if you are staying in the lower floors (below 22nd FL), you will need to go up to 22nd floor first and then change the elevator which will bring you to the 49th floor restaurant for breakfast. This could be little confusing for the 1st time gusts, however, the bell boy explained the process clearly and we don’t have any issue with it. Personally I think the roof floor revolving restaurant is the spot light for the hotel. Though the decor is slightly let me feel it is out-dated, but the view is still magnificent. (If the haze is thin in Jinan…) The variety of the food is ok, good combination of the western and local food, they do serve the Jinan local “Tian-Mo” which worth to have a try. But I don’t see any of the food impress me with a “Wow” feeling. The hotel should probably consider change their coffee beans, not that tasty. General service: Restaurant staffs are quite different… the managers and supervisors (I just assume from their uniform) are very pleasant to talk to, one of the lady noticed that we had a baby and she offered stewed egg next morning. But those younger crews (Looks like interns) never smile or look at you, just do there “work”. The other day I saw a western face gentleman (one of their crew) walk circling around the restaurant… not smiling and greeting guests… just wondering what he is doing out there. Other facilities: Swimming pool is a sunny swimming pool, though it is not big, but a good one. In room facility is OK and the bed is comfortable. The amenities are branded with Lavin. The bottle water offered in the room are local brand—could be better if they at least offer something from better brands, and TWINNING teabags are available. Location: Walking distance to the major sightseeing places, Spouting Spring and the Square of Spring city etc. however, if you are looking for the even better location, the new Intercontinental hotel is a good choice, but more expensive for sure. Lounge: Not applicable as I am not holding a senior membership in Accor. Overall, to a non-gold/platinum Accor member, the hotel is worth the money you spend. And overall experience is very pleasant.

I spent 8 days in this marvellous hotel. I had room at 39th floor and the possibility to join the 47th lounge floor. Mr. Jeffery Jiang is very gentle and focused on whatever you need. I had also my birthday day and the kindness of all the staff expecially Manager Amy Liang was supreme. You should ask for this people if you go in this hotel. All the staff inside the hotel is super by the way. Thank you.

Noisy dark hotel, poor service all over, breakfast very Chinese( meat buffet mostly) and poor western kind breakfast alternatives, one bad tasting Cappuccino did cost extra (approx 9US$), service aloof and without showing any passion

I always stay at the Sofitel Silver Plaza when I visit Jinan. It is centrally located in a lively area, the hotel is comfortable and the staff go out of their way to be helpful. I look forward to my next visit.

I visit Jinan frequently for business and always stay at this property. Amy, the Front Desk Manager, is incredible along with the rest of her staff and the last time that I stayed there, when I got to my suite, there was a gift and a hand-written note from Bill, the Chief Concierge, thanking me for my business. You don't find this very often no matter where you are!! Overall, a wonderful place to stay!!

I stayed this hotel a few times when visiting Jinan for business purpose. I'm kinda lazy so never had enough motivation to leave a comment here, even though I have been satisfied with the hotel and the service. This time, i had a unique and touching experience, forcing me to say sth. I had a cough during my stay so I bought a bottle of cough syrup. This was noticed by the staff who did the housekeeping for my room. The night when I returned to the room. A ginger soup was on my table and with a card saying this would help to relieve my symptoms. I was very touched at the moment and actually took a picture of the card. Thank you, Stella - if I remember it right. Wonderful service! Please keep going.
