excellent rooms and all that as expected; nothing outstandingly exciting but friendly and efficient staff, enough with English for non mandarin speakers to cope. rooms comfortable and good views on all sides; TV channel options need work.....guys,,,,,with a little effort EVEN THO we are in Shandong, you can some international channels yah!!
An otherwise nice hotel from a physical standpoint that has not kept up its housekeeping and maintenance standards. In my room: blood (not mine) on bedsheets, dark moldy caulk and grout in shower, corners and edges of floors simply not cleaned apparently over a long period of time, if ever.. Breakfast buffet selection was fine, Like many establishments in China, coffee simply not very good....a must for most American travelers! Strong suggestion for Jinan which is trying to increase its foreign and Western visitor presence...for customer service positions, hire English speakers for the front desk who speak understandable English, train customer service skills geared to the Western traveler (smiles & graciousness..."please and thank-you's" in these positions would be appreciated & expected , besides just performing your basic functions !) Sleep quality very poor not because of the bed, which was good, but the centrally set steamingly hot room temperature. The individual thermostats in the rooms which were not adjustable....so many similar complaints from almost everyone in our group...told to open the window (which can be opened only a small degree.) A fan brought to the room was not much help. No notices, signs or announcements that the thermostats cannot be set by the guest . Would not go back again.
The hotel is a tall tower with good views.i was upgraded to suite which was well appointed. The restaurant offered excellent food but the wine was expensive. Had to keep my room windows open as the AC was centrally controlled. Breakfast was decent but as I often notice in China, western food is rather sweet.
Overall Good experience, i stay in this hotel for one week and it is good for business person, with fully equiped with all arrangement like wifi, phone calls, food is also of for Indians, location of hotel in mid of town.
If you don't want to spend a lot of money, and you don't mind to be a little bit far from shopping centres, this is a place for you. Fast Wi-Fi, nice room, good service, good breakfast, OK dinner buffet with live music.
Nice hotel with modern clean rooms. My room had view over street with bridge and residental area and in the back mountains. Frontdesk staf is very friendly and helpfull but nobody is speaking good English. Breakfast in the hotel is incl. And with a lot of choice but missing the typical European breakfast with Bread and croissant etc.
Stayed one night and felt quite comfortable. Big room equipped with all you need. Breakfast in revolving restaurant very good. Asian as well as western. Highly recommended is also a visit to the Italien restaurant. Very good food and nice wines. I will come back
We stayed three nights at the Grand Mercure. It is a very good, modern and well run hotel. The rooms were comfortable, the wifi was decent and the staff helpful. I loved the beer garden! However Jinan is a huge city and the Grand Mercure is a bit out of the way. If you have a car then no worries but really you can't walk or find public transit to anything easily. Good business hotel.
Nice hotel for its class. Front desk service is very good. Location a bit out to the city centre. Surrounding eatery places is limited, very little choice. I would say it is for business hotel not for leisure.
Some of the most courteous and helpful staff I've had the pleasure of interacting with. Nice rooms although typical Chinese style where there seems to be a lack of a locking door on the bathroom, replaced by frosted glass doors which is a pattern at a number of hotels I've seen. Stayed here for business for a few nights and don't regret it at all. One of the best hotels I've stayed at for friendly, polite and helpful staff. The concierge service was fantastic here, honestly the staff make this hotel as they go out of their way to help you. Needed to buy train tickets for my trip out of Jinan and they arranged it all, asked some other random questions about buying various things from the city and the staff came up to the room, rang their own friends who may be able to help advise me further and really went above and beyond anything that I expected. Hotel is nice, modern, clean, nice sized rooms, internet was okay as far as I remember. Go for the breakfast option I'd say, nice healthy selection with cereal, eggs, omelettes, fruit, croissants, pan au chocolat, waffles, pancakes etc. I wasn't in Jinan terribly long and neither did I see any of the sites so I'm not sure how good the location is for leisure purposes, it seemed pretty accessible though as there was a busy road across from it and taxis are so cheap in China in general that I doubt getting anywhere would be so expensive. When I'm back for business I'll definitely be staying here again.
