Hope Lake Lodge & Indoor Waterpark

Cozy and comfortable lodge with lots of amenities and equally lovely staff especially Faye and Tami. Guest rooms and public areas were much nicer than I anticipated based on other reviews. Staff couldn’t do enough to make our stay a wonderful experience

We stayed there this past weekend, Feb 9-11 with our 3 children ages 6, 5 and 1. We had a long drive so really only had one full day, which we spent at the water park. We stayed in a Loon Hollow Suite, which suited the 5 of us very well and had more than enough room. First, the good things, which are also the two most important things when staying at a hotel for me: 1. The staff at this hotel could not have been more friendly and helpful. When I booked the reservation I booked a smaller room. I emailed them asking for a bigger room with a pack and play, and they made the change with no issues. When we arrived, everything was ready for us in the room. 2. (And this is a BIG DEAL to me!) The room was EXTREMELY CLEAN! I was so relieved because I am a bit neurotic when it comes to staying in hotels due to fear of germs. I've cancelled many a reservation after seeing pictures of dirty rooms on TA! I am happy to say that this hotel really paid attention to the details as far as cleaning. Whomever is in charge of housekeeping deserves a raise! With regard to the water park, it wasn't as big as I expected, but our young children had a great time. If you have older kids, you might need more "frills", but it was perfect for our three kids. They loved it so much they cried when we had to leave. Now the things that need work. First, we arrived the evening after a bout of bad weather and the inclined driveway/parking area had not been plowed or treated much. Our (brand new) minivan had trouble getting up to the entrance to the lodge. Because of that, we felt that we couldn't leave once we arrived, so we weren't able to go to a grocery store as we had planned to buy simple food provisions to keep in our suite's kitchen during our stay. This meant we were 100% reliant on the hotel for food the entire time, which quickly became expensive. That wouldn't have been such a big deal, except the food at the Acorn Grille left much to be desired. I called for room service upon arrival as our kids were starving, and they quickly told me that half of the items listed on the menu in the room were no longer available ("you must be looking at an old menu" they said, but it was the menu in our room.). We ordered burgers and grilled cheeses. Everything was cooked ok, but it was diner-quality food at best. There were only 2 basic salad choices so a healthy dinner wasn't really an option. The next morning we went back to the Acorn Grille for the breakfast buffet. It was $14.95/person and the quality of the food was not better than the free breakfasts offered by most chain hotels (if anything it was worse). That was disappointing for such a high price. Also everything in there was sticky and wobbly, our coffee spilled several times. We did not want to go back and ended up paying extra to have a pizza shop deliver to us beyond its delivery zone that evening. Finally, we wished there was a bigger store inside the resort. There was a tiny gift/coffee shop that luckily had milk for our infant and a small selection of beer/snacks. It would've been really helpful if they offered some simple groceries, as the room had a kitchen in it and we were in need of things like bread, cereal, etc. Also, a bigger beer and wine selection would've been nice, though they did a small amount of craft brews available for takeout. As we were in the Finger Lakes, I was hoping for some wine, but the only bottle available was $24 and after all the food costs we had already incurred, I couldn't justify that. Finally, we forgot swim diapers for our infant. We asked when we entered the water park if they had any, they only had a random selection of swim suits for sale. Unfortunately our toddler did not spend much time at the park because of that, I had to take him back to the room. If they had a store in the water park, we would have spent money there (not just on swim diapers, but on souvenirs as well as it was my daughter's birthday). All in all, in spite of the above criticisms the important things were there for this hotel--friendliness and cleanliness. While there is room for improvement, we felt like the value was decent. We had an enjoyable family weekend and would return.

Used most of the variety of activities. Waterpark with grandkids, spa for my wife and myself, dinners and skiing. The kids absolutely had a blast and were all over the place from one pool to the next. The massage was respectful and relaxing. Dinners were very tasty and the slopes were in excellent shape given the recent warm and rainy weather. They were making snow 24/7 countering Mother Nature. (Went back skiing a few days later and you could turn anywhere.) Just wish the work calls could have backed off.

Wedding was wonderful and food was good for wedding. Water park is $28 while the pool is free. The shuttles to Trax is great. Tubing, coaster skiing and snowboarding available and very fun for adults and kids. Weddings by the fireplace is so beautiful! The coordinators are super friendly and helpful and will quickly adjust to meet the needs of the bride and groom.

Excellent ski area overall. This was out first time there, and the ski area has a very nice diversity of trails. Plus, it skis like a bigger mountain. Very easy to get to off I-81 in Central New York State (SE Finger Lakes Region) Hope Lake Lodge is great. Condos were nice too. We will definitely come back

stained blankets and couch. faucet in bathroom had horrible pressure so ended up using kitchen sink the whole time, poor mountain conditions as described by the ski instructor as sketchy. it was super icy mostly

We just returned from celebrating my father's 95th birthday, family-reunion style !! We stayed at in the Log Home. Upon arrival we received a warm greeting from all the staff. The house is beautiful and well appointed to accommodation large groups! Plenty of "elbow-room" for all, with loads of windows, offering magnificent views !!! Any and all of our concerns were addressed immediately and sufficiently. Matthew from maintainance, Mark & Alexa from Guest Services went above and beyond to make our stay pleasantly memorable. We also visited the Spa during our stay and highly reccommend the services offered there!

We needed a place we could cook meals for 6 people and seat them for eating and that slept 3. Got a room here that worked out fine but it was pricey. We were not skiing. The water park was fun as was the mountain coaster.

Nice family getaway. Not skiers but it appears the slopes are very popular. Did something and had a blast. Not over crowded. Had the lodgey feel we were looking for. Super clean kitchen with full refrig, stove, oven, dishwasher. Fireplace was a nice touch.

We usually enjoy our stay at Hope Lake Lodge, but this time around, I was very disappointed. 1. The food at the Acorn Grill was mediocre, at best. Try to avoid the breakfast buffet. The food is overcooked and tasteless. 2. The pillows in the rooms are worn out and terribly uncomfortable. Bring your own pillows if you want to get any sleep.
