You shouldn't stay in this hotel when you come to see staff here. They even don't say Hello when you come and don't send any smile to you also. Breakfast is so poor and Hotel near an temple so noisy in the Morning. I can't sleep from 4 AM
We stayed there for three nights and i must say the hotel is decent, worth your money.Good location, 10 minutes walk to the Grand Bazaar. The staff were friendly and helpful. There are a lot of restaurants nearby.
I like it, perfect place where everything is near, like Sultanahmet mosque, ayasofia and other places, the Aksaray metro station is 30 minutes walk and this takes u to the airport and other places, also there is the tram that takes u to other places, the staff is very much friendly and helpful, breakfast is good but not special things, no laundry inside the hotel as they have to take ur clothes outside the hotel to do it and u have to pay for that
Good traditional hotel in sparkling neighbourhood. Rooms small but sufficiënt and clean. Good breakfast. Very nice people. Lots of good cheap restaurants and pastryshops around. Walking distance from public transport, Bazar and highlits as Aya Sophia, Topkapi etc.
I researched hotels in Istanbul before I booked. The Tayhan Hotel appeared to have everything that I was looking for according to their website. However their website is full of lies. Let's start with the positives. Although the hotel is not in a great area it is close to all the major attractions. The wifi is good and the hotel is clean. On their website they state what facilities are available in their rooms. Their is no radio, no laptop safe, no flat-screen tv, no safe, no ironing facilities, no slippers, no mini bar and no room service as stated. Our room had a small, old, portable tv with 3 channels when we arrived (they say that there are 45 satellite tv channels). My boyfriend went down to complain and was told by reception to contact the people that I booked with so I went down with my laptop open at their website. I was told that the safes were in reception, they could bring us ironing facilities if we needed them, and that the room service was only for drinks from the bar and not food. They sent someone up to our room later and he managed to get us more tv stations but they were all Turkish apart from CNN and BBC World News. Before I wrote this review I tried to access their website again and it was unavailable. Maybe they are now changing it to give correct details. If you are looking for a cheap, clean hotel that is close to the attractions then this hotel is fine but don't expect any frills.
We stayed here on our first trip to Turkey, Istanbul. It a 3 star hotel, but it is decent. Our room was very clean and was quite spacious, and the bathrooms had little to no sign of dirt and shabbiness. The location is OK, but bear in mind that it is in a busy-like street, so you may hear noises of people laughing and chatting. However, it is about a 10 minute walk from the main square, with museums, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Grand Bazaar. The included buffet breakfast was also nice, with fresh fruit, bread, orange juice and a variety of other items, so it was good. The staff are also very friendly, the ones we met.
Hotel Tayhan hotel is located in part of the city called Laleli which is so close to the all major monuments you would want to visit in Istanbul - Grand bazaar, Sultanahmet mosque, Ayasofiya, Topkapi, etc. Although initially it doesn't look attractive just after a day you realize that all you need is clean room, bed and shower because this hotel has all that and it is close to the tram and like I mentioned above most important monuments in Istanbul. Because it is located in the old part of Istanbul hotel and streets around it do not seem very nice but it is safe to walk around and easy to walk everywhere. People working at the reception desk speak basic English and are helpful and friendly. Breakfast is simple but nice and you will not leave hungry. If you are on the budget I definitely recommend staying in this hotel!
I spent 6 days at Hotel Tayhan in September 2013 with a group of Danish students. The hotel was nice, clean and cheap. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel has a good location in a very local neighbourhood and it has the most wonderful roof-terasse with a splendid view over the city and the sea.
Simple, non-luxurious, basic, but clean. The receptionist speaks English relatively well and understandable. Breakfast is fine but it was the same everyday: bread, cheese, olive, (delicious) yoghurt, (watery) coffee, and tea. The location is downhill from the main road and it means also uphill to catch tram line. Close to attractive and historical sites. The hotel has very soundproof window but not the walls. The small canteen beside the hotel with blue paint serves cheap and delicious turkey local dishes. The owner also speaks simple english!
We booked this hotel 5 months ago, but still the hotel didn't have a room for us when we arrivied and we were suppose to stay in the hotel 4 nights only. Instead the hotel sent us to a hotel called "Red Rose" (50m distance from Tayhan), which you can not even call "a hotel".The hotel room was dirty and the toilet didn't work at all, no space in the bathroom and no clean towels, the sheets were like used already. Horrible experience. We didn't want to stay in this hotel, so our travelagent's help we got transferred to another hotel where they never received our booking! finally at 11 o´clock we got to a normal hotel. The next morning we came back to Tayhan and we got a room until our last day of our holiday. The staff in the hotel were really kind and helpful, but the manager of the hotel was very arrogant and unfriendly, he refused to talk with us about this overbooking problem, which happened. We felt in the beginning that the hotel manager just "left us", this is what a guest should never feel by the hotel. This is not good behaving at all from the manager of the hotel! We will come back again to Istanbul for sure, but never to this hotel again. As below, it seems like there has been a lot of overbookings in the hotel so be careful when booking this hotel!!!!!
