Holiday Inn ANA Kanazawa Sky3.5 out of 5.0

We were fortunate enough to be staying in a traditional Japanese suite for our 3 night stay in Kanazawa. These suites are delightful and spacious, making it a joy to relax in after a day of sightseeing. We found Kanazawa Sky to be excellent in this range of hotel. We did see other rooms on offer during our stay, and I can understand the disappointment of some regarding the size of the standard rooms, especially for westerners. The room we saw in the double deluxe category was the smallest hotel room I had ever seen, with one tiny window up high and a double bed against the wall. To Japanese guests, this does not appear to be an issue. If this is your price point, I would highly recommend getting a 2 single bed deluxe room instead, as there was more room in those. Service was excellent at every point in the hotel, and there was a decent range of food at the breakfast buffet. You couldn't get a better location - the only time we didn't walk was going to and from the station with our luggage, all other exploration we did on foot (and there are timely buses if you get tired of the exercise).
Super location, near to train station, fish market, garden etc, room is ok, breakfast really good with western and Japanese options. View from restaurant, which is located in floor 16 is amazing. Staff super friendly.
Located is Great ! Just 3 minutes away from the Fish Market and next to the a newly renovated shopping mall. Nice walks to the Gardens, Castle, Museums. Near to Restaurants and Bars and entertainment. Good decent sized rooms with nice and comfy bedding. Very Clean and well kept. Helpful and Attentive Staff. Beautiful lounge and waiting area. Good restaurant with affordable prices. Definitely A Good Choice if you dont need to be near the Station ! I would stay here again anytime !
Convenient location. Train station, buses, shops and places of interest in walking distance. Excellent views over the city. Helpful staff. Excellent choice at breakfast. Single rooms are adequate with everything provided. Decor rather drab and dated. Bathrooms are small but typical of those generally available based on my very limited experience in Japan. Does the job!
I'm a loyal IHG platinum member and this was a disappointment. The location is excellent. Right across from the market and above a great department store. The staff is very helpful but the rooms are poor. The bathroom smelled and the toilet squealed every time you used it. The bed was comfortable but smoke permeated our non-smoking room from other areas. The huge step up to the bathroom (about a foot) was a killer in the night. Our room looked nothing like the ones in the photo. The housekeeping was surprisingly poor. He left rags in the tub and didn't replace dirty mugs on either day.
We spent 2 nights in this hotel and honestly you will easily find better place than this one in Kanazawa ! The rooms are so small once you have opened your luggage you won’t have any place ! I even don’t mention bathroom which is a cabin same that you can find in a boat ... honestly the size rooms is a shame and all the furniture start being old ... the bar lounge is so sad despite the beautiful view. No real service since you have only one person managing the front desk office and the service in the same time ... staff are nice and available as usual in Japan but only few of them speak English ! The good point : at 10mn from the station !
The location is excellent and you can walk to all main sites within 20 minutes; the train station is a 10-15 minute walk away and easy to get to and from. The staff are excellent and couldn’t be more helpful. Unfortunately the rooms are a bit of a disappointment- drab brown room, poor air con, poor views, tiny bathroom (which smells a bit mouldy). Maybe it was just our room (a deluxe), as some of the photos on here look better. Good wi fi and breakfast - with good views! And an iron in the room - a plus for me! Ok for a short stay.
The hotel is located nearly 1km away from Kanazawa station. It is a walking distance but with luggage, a bus ride is much more convenient. It is next to Oumi fish market and convenient for sight seeing. The staff gave us upgraded room, which was very clean and spacious with a 'sky' view of the city.
This hotel is about a 8 minute walk from the train station. It's conveniently located with easy reach to Omicho Market, shops and restaurants. We didn't find it difficult to find as the entrance was well signposted with instructions to go to the 16th floor for main reception. We booked a room for 4 and we found only three beds when we arrived. The staff were very quick to respond to our request for another bed and this did squeeze in to our spacious room. The bathrooms do need refurbishment. Our toilet seat was broken and the shower was very basic. The views of Kanazawa were great and we could see across the city. Overall it was a good location but not the best hotel we stayed in whilst in Japan. The staff were responsive though and we appreciated that.
We visited the castle and were looking for a place to stay. We knew the brand so investigated. From the outside we were confused but we finally found the entrance and felt that this place is hiding.... So we parked the car, went in and up to the 16th floor and WOW! From the check-in with Yoko - who is an absolute STAR at reception, to the room and breakfast we all thoroughly enjoyed the time there (although very short) and the hospitality from all the staff we encountered. The room was fabulous on the 15th floor with extremely comfortable bedding, a spacious bathroom with seperate toilet and washroom. My wife even stated that I didn't snore despite being extremely tired from the 1AM start in the day driving from Tokyo! Parking was easy and secure with covered access all the way through. Special note on parking, go up to the 3rd or 4th floor as the parking spaces are purposely double width! Other than that, the food was great for breakfast and the whole place was so comfortable! We will definitely be back, thank you.
