Just spent 7 nights on half board via Inghams holidays. Bedroom a good size, bath with shower over it. Two singles pushed together with a duvet each, feather which was too hot for summer use. Breakfast is buffet and you have a set menu to select what you want for that evening. Two choices of starter, two soups, salad buffet, 3 choices of mains, including vegetarian, cheese buffet and two desserts to choose from. Including soft drinks, beer and wine in deal. You are allocated a table for duration. The pool is on top floor, decent size, views of mountains. Indoor and outdoor jacuzzi. Relaxation room for over 16s, perfect as there were a lot of young kids. Central location, train and bus station few minutes walk away. Lovely town to Potter around and the lake to walk around.
Ferienhotel Kaltschmid is situated in the middle of the small village Seefeld. The village is nice, and the hotel gives you a great time there. Ferienhotel Kaltschmid is built in a traditional Tirol style. Inside it is modern, with a cosy reception area. The rooms are mostly OK, but if you are unlucky you may get a room up on the top. Then you may have a problem having a shower - thanks to the low ceiling there. The restaurant is devided in several parts, and the Food is what you expect in Austria - plentful and good!
Booked a family suite for two adults and a 10 year old child for 5 nights. After a nightmare of getting to the hotel from Munich during very inclement weather (unfortunately, the hotel could not arrange transportation from Mittenberg, Germany, where we were stranded at a bus station, but we eventually found an enterprising cab driver), we eventually checked in about 9 pm at night. Check-in was prompt and polite, albeit with a lot of paperwork involved. The room numbers are a bit tough to follow as they aren't ordered quite intuitively, so be careful. The room itself was nice, with a small hallway with a separate water closet and bathroom with tub/shower. The bedroom for the child was very spacious with two twin beds and a sitting room. The main bedroom was also sizable enough, with lovely wooden ceilings and a large balcony. One knock is that if you want bath robes, you must rent them. No slippers. Also, no coffee maker. Both rooms had large televisions with many stations. The first night, as it was late, we ate in the restaurant on the ground floor, with live entertainment. Food was excellent and the service prompt and friendly. On subsequent days we would eat breakfast on the second floor restaurant, in an assigned booth, where we would also order our meals for dinner (we had half-board). The breakfast buffet was excellent with all the usual amenities (although, as like many European breakfasts, no fried potatoes). The dinner was always very delicious, with a choice of soup, main, dessert, and a salad bar, expect one night when it was a full dinner buffet. As a vegetarian, they only gave one choice in each category, but every one was very good. I usually don't care for eggplant, but the dish that had this was surprisingly tasty. The children's options are a bit more limited, however. I must also commend the service in the restaurant which was extraordinary, catering to every request. One night I asked for Schnapps, not realizing they did not serve a full bar with dinner, and the manager went downstairs to get me one. There is also a disco bar on the main floor, with live bands. And a bar in the lobby, with fireplace. I would say, my single complaint about the restaurant is that breakfast begins at 8 am, which seems a bit late to me, especially when we wanted to be out skiing early. The spa and pool are was also very impressive, with two different pools (one with slide for children), an adults-only sauna complex (no bathing suits permitted, although you can wear a towel), a relaxation room, an indoor jacuzzi, and an outdoor jacuzzi, every area with drink service. I think we were in the spa area every night except the first when we arrived late. They also have an area for storing ski gear (heated). And the buses to the ski areas are very close. Also, there is a very large grocery store directly next door, with opens at 7 am. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel, particularly for families. They do offer a children's club, as well. The staff were all very friendly and eager to help with anything you might need. I would also note that housekeeping was excellent.
Looked after us straight from check in. We had a 8 person (2 bedroom) apartment and for a family of 5 it was ideal. Especially with all the skiing gear. We went for half board which included selected drinks with the evening meal (soft drinks, beer, house wine (very drinkable). Food was excellent too. Would recommend and will return
The hotel is centrally located along the main square in Seefeld, it has a number of sections and the view from our room partly overlooked the square, many would have mountain views and a few rooms would into each other. We had a family type room (I forget the exact title) but we had basically two rooms stuck together at a join in the building. We had one bathroom with toilet sink and bath and then a separate sink and shower area in the "other "room. It was really handy. The bed was comfortable, we slept very well. The food was really good, plentiful with an extensive breakfast buffet and huge salad buffet to complement dinner. The pool area was lovely a small pool bar area with drinks and ice cream available and was quite quiet and peaceful during our stay. They have plans for improvements to the leisure facilities next year. Dine around options are available at sister hotels but we never felt the need.
Definitiv nicht für Familien geeignet. Absolut unverschämt was uns passiert ist. Babies unerwünscht, ausser man zahlt den dreifachen Preis, ein extra Zimmer/Bett, zum Dank der Regel und der Feuerschutzverordnung die über alles geht. We reserved a room for one night, for three persons, two adults and our six year old daughter. We kindly asked to also have our 6 months old baby sleep with us in our bed - therefore not needing a bed/room for four. We were offered a room for four people and three times the price. Reasons, according to the lady on the phone, these are the rules and guidelines, also considering the emergency fire plan. That's why it is impossible that we can have our baby stay with us in a room for three. Another reason is to have a baby, disregarding his age, count and charge as grown up person. We thanked the hotel, cancelled our stay and went to another hotel that was more welcoming to families with babies without additional fee or threefold cost. We were disappointed, especially since the hotel claims to be family friendly - family racist attitude is more like it.
The hotel and restaurant are in the prime location in Seefeld. We had very nice traditional Austrian meals in this restaurant. The service was good, the waiter spoke English, which helped a lot. The menu is in a few languages, food taste fresh and looks good. There restaurant offers a couple of sets of 3 couse meals, which are a good value but plenty of other choices ala carte. There are tables inside the restaurant as well as outside. Nice and friendly place with tasty food.
Stayed here for 2 nights with the family and we enjoyed it tremendously. This place has it all, FANTASTIC gym! Absolutely state of the art. The pool is great and includes a great spa outdoors. Lots of space around the hotel, nice sitting areas and such. Breakfast is fantastic, you can get it all, any coffee you want, made to order eggs etc etc. Just great. The rooms are likely the least impressive. There is weird glass shower construction in the middle of the room, which might be romantic, but not great for a family stay....Hopeless selection of TV programmes if you want original language and/or english. Nevertheless we had a great time
Because of bad weather / rain, we had to find a hotel with possibilities for indoor activities. Kaltschmid have a good pool- and wellness-area and a fitness room. Several restaurants. Clean and well kept rooms, some with a small kitchen.
What a wonderful week it was hiking, exploring and enjoying the beautiful forrest and pathways around Seefeld in Tyrol. Our stay at the Ferienhotel Kaltschmid made the visit all the more pleasurable. The staff at the hotel are very friendly, the room was large and clean. We were happy to find room for his and hers vanities in the bath and there was more space in the separate toilet. The bed was very comfortable and made for a good rest after climbing up and down the mountains all day. We had half board and we were impressed with the quality of the food and professionalism of the staff. The hotel location is right in the center of the village - perfect! It is hard to find something not so good about this hotel but I suppose a small complaint is in order regarding the breakfast which could be served earlier starting at 7:30 instead of 8:00. Also, I really missed not being able to have a hot cup of coffee first thing in the morning as there was no kettle available. :( This hotel is well worth a visit in summer or winter, We will certainly be coming back for more of this enjoyable area, village and hotel.
