The Lakefront Beach House is a special property that breathes the history of the original 1940's lake cottage architecture but updated with an open floorplan and modern coastal vibe. For the 2024 season we did major updates to the property including adding new craftsman shaker ceilings, built-ins, tile shower, amazing new windows in the sunroom, appliances, furnishings, décor, and bedding which blend into the original character of the home while producing a feeling of luxury and relaxation. If you are looking for a unique property that will surely trigger nostalgic memories of being a child … you found it!

Enjoy the convenience of watching the kids from the patio while they play at the park and beach literally 25 feet away from the house and firepit evening sunsets with Cedar Point in a distance and the silhouette of the pier. Sunrises are enjoyed with a cup of coffee from the sea wall. You will love having meals in the sunroom and on the patio with awesome views of boats passing by on Lake Erie. When the wind is out of the northeast you'll experience Pacific ocean like waves crash across the pier and beach.

This is a fisherman's dreamhouse as you cast your line just feet from the home.

Our family had an unforgettable time at this house, starting with waking up in the morning looking out over a beautiful calm lake Erie, to kids having a blast fishing off the pier or playing in the park, to ending our evenings with fires in the fire pit and making s’mores. This is a wonderful location to spend great family time and to make new memories. Our host was able to answer all our questions and very helpful in making this one of the best vacations we’ve had. We would definitely stay here again.

House was lovely with the colors you hope to find (blues, greens, and in-betweens) at lakeside homes. The vintage wooden floors and cottage windows in much of the house are a big plus. The house was very clean and so it was easy to keep clean during our stay. Great having a front-row seat to the lake. On a very windy day, Lake Erie put on quite a spectacular show against the rocks, notably at sunrise. My less than 5 stars on check-in is related to a non-functioning key box, which I understand was subsequently replaced, so should no longer be an issue.

Very happy. Cozy home. Stayed at many B&Bs in the area but this one has them all beat! Great utilization of space -updates are perfect while still appreciating the old wood and floors within the house, abundance of linen and towels that were a great quality. The air conditioner and fireplace worked exceptionally well. Plenty of hot and cold running water. Had so much fun on the beach just outside the door. The sunroom was one of our favorite rooms to enjoy the view. Host Ryan stopped by and introduced himself. Well-versed in the area and history. September is a great time to come! Will we plan to return again next year with additional family members. House easily sleeps 10.

Clean rooms, comfortable beds. 2nd bath is down 5 steps turn then down one more for those with mobility issues. Other bath is on same floor with all bedrooms. Beautiful views mostly enjoyed from inside porch since we did hit sandfly time (they do not bite, and blow away with any wind). Couldn't find a better location. After Labor day so few beach goers. Did enjoy launching my paddleboard from beach.

For 28 years we have gone to the outer banks in NC and this week at Rye Beach front was our favorite vacation. There was so much to do within 15 - 30 min, convenient to stores for supplies, and relaxing. The house had everything we needed and generously supplied things that we weren't expecting. Our host was easy to reach during the whole process and went out of their way to assist when we were having trouble with our bank card making a payment early on. It was on our end of the payment and they were very patient until we got it sorted out. The littles loved the little beach and the playground right next door and watching the wildlife was great! Would definitely recommend this vrbo!

Special house, special location, be prepared for something special

Ok, so I want to start by saying that we really enjoyed our week at the house next to the public Rye Beach. This is NOT intended to be a negative review. Our experience was positive. But I do think it’s important for future guests to know what they signed up for. This is an old house. The rooms and indoor space is small, the quarters are tight. And while there are two bathrooms, neither is an en suite. Privacy is also at a minimum both inside the house and outside, as it is directly adjacent to a public beach and beachgoers and neighbors walk VERY close to the property (indeed, most treated the grounds of the home as public grounds, sometimes to our chagrin). But we had a great time. Couldn’t have been better, especially for the boys who caught a ton of fish all weeklong. Excellent location to fire off some 4th of July fireworks and enjoy time with close friends and family. It’s special. It’s not for everyone. For those it caters to, the home and the hosts were wonderful!

The bathroom set up is not ideal. The half bath is inside the side door before entering house. Hot water heater is located in this bathroom with a curtain around it. There is a double sink in that room. To get to it you have to descend stairs and it is not located near the bedrooms but is in the other side of the house. There are two bedrooms with only one exit through the first bedroom. The porch is nice. Some of the furniture legs and arms are loose. There is a lot of furniture and no open space for the kids to play. Hope for nice weather. The playground right outside the door was nice and the beach is a very small space enclosed with boulders but our 6& 4 year old seemed to enjoy it. The pillows in the king bedroom were uncomfortable, rigid and high. The kitchen was okay but the cabinets were in a bit of disarray with pots and pans and difficulty closing the drawers. The back door gets stuck when you close it and you have to use muscle to get it closed. There were no storage containers but foil and plastic wrap were available. Some of the toilet paper holders and other accessories could be updated. I liked having two refrigerators. The location was convenient to the amusement and water parks. There were also some nice parks with playgrounds and trails close by. The key housing was old and difficult to use. We have stayed at beach houses before, not in Ohio, but feel this could use improvements.

Cousins Weekend

Another great stay at a property that Stephanie and Ryan own! Last year we stayed at their other property just 2 doors down from where we were this year. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would! The house was perfect for the nine of us and the living areas were superior. From the large table inside for late into the night game playing to the Florida room that was all windows for perfect viewing of the lake, we couldn't have been happier. The outside area also had plenty of seating and table area so that we could all be outside at the same time enjoying the outdoors. A firepit is available along with wood for cooler nights. As hosts, Steph and Ryan are always available. They respond quickly and take care of any problems that you might be having. Already looking forward to next year's cousin's weekend!!

Not as expected and REALLY Beat Up!

The photos and description and reviews of this house made us select this one over any others in the area. However, both families were really disappointed. There’s a key in the lock box to get in, which made it easy. But there were supposed to be extra keys in the house, and there was only one extra key for our group. The photo showed a large table and several couches and made it look as though this was a lakefront house. I would call it more of a small cottage on the lake. It’s pretty beat up - the furniture was really beat up, pots and pans in the kitchen were really old and super worn. the main bathroom tub didn’t drain at all so you were standing dirty bathwater while showering. The other bathroom had so many spiders that I got tired of killing them, and didn’t even keep my bath stuff in there. The cushions to the outdoor furniture were so dirty and gross that I wanted to just go buy new ones for the house, and just leave them there. And the chairs to that outdoor patio table are so beat up they’re rusted and have holes in them. When we learned we had an issue with the WiFi, we reached out to the owners, who didn't get back to us until the next morning. By then, we reset everything and rewired it properly, and had it working again. The train that comes at 3:11am and then every 15 minutes until 7am, was not helping the situation - I'm sure the noise was bouncing off the water, but it sounded like it was going to come into the house - EVERY. MORNING. Not recommended.
