Our kids bought us a 2 night stay through Luxury Escapes, we thought by the description would be luxury. Far from it, the rooms were old, smelly and in desperate need of a makeover. The bathroom walls were caving in with wood rot. Description of sitting on the Terrace and enjoy the beautiful Hunter Valley landscape. We had a perfect view of the main road and the Tennis courts, the terrace was so filthy anyway you wouldn’t want to step out there. Would never stay here again...
The gardens are beautiful, rooms spacious and well appointed but the food is expensive. You must order either a two or three course meal in the restaurant which is not cheap. Might be OK for a couple away for the weekend but totally not suitable for a solo business traveler which I am. I was also not advised of this at reception when I booked a table. No completely water for Accor Plus provided which I have received elsewhere. The only option is a very limited and a bit overpriced room service.
The expectation was this would be a quality resort but it was far from it the rooms were very very small and dated it is in serious need of a refurb, the shower n bathroom were tiny and leaked The only plus was the pleasant staff and location I have stayed at other venues and will not return to this one
A short notice decision to stay on a trip to Sydney when we ran out of steam at Singleton. Reception staff great and attentive explaining resort features. Superior room was great, especially unwinding on your very private patio. Wineries within easy walking distance ie minutes outside the back boundary. Dinner at Elements was outstanding, staff were attentive but unobtrusive. Great idea fixed price for two or three courses and encouraged to share. Breakfast again was excellent, real croissants, yum. Thank you for a great night before a very busy weekend in Sydney.
Two nights stay in the dulexe suite mid week . Very good accommodation, buffet breakfast is excellent! Would recommend this place, great ambience & gardens, close to the Hunter Valley Gardens & wineries.
I've booked a package for my partner's birthday. Room with breakfast, dinner and cheese plate included + Birthday package. Nice room, clean and cozy. The breakfast buffet was great and 2 course dinner was absolutely brilliant. We enjoyed our stay a lot!
Booked in for a wedding anniversary escape (28 years!). Opened the front door of our suite to be greeted by a luxurious living room with log fire, lounges and dining table. High ceilings made it feel HUGE. Bedroom was separate - offering king-size bed, another lounge and en-suite with spa bath. Getting on for 4pm, so we walked the short path through McGuigans winery to Brokenwood. Fantastic service there and superb wines. Dinner at the resort's restaurant, Elements ... waitstaff Alex and Jayde very impressive, the food even more so. Resort gardens beautiful, location excellent - we could hear a concert at nearby Hope Estate. Will definitely go back, and would also consider a business conference.
Checked in for an overnight stay. Asked for a double room but got a twin!! Bathroom was in need of a deep clean together with some remedial repairs. Carpet smelt sweaty so turned off aircon and opened door to balcony. Dinner was hilarious. Service was so poor it reminded me of faulty towers. Wine came after the first course had been eaten, then the waiter remembered that we hadn't received a bread roll so that came immediately before the main course. Two members of staff to cover around 16 diners. It isn't difficult to do things in the correct order. This was all for the princely sum of AUS $386.
My husband and I stayed at the Mercure Hunter Valley Gardens Resort for 2 nights. It is a very nice resort with a very good restaurant called Elements. We had a lovely meal and were very well looked after by a young man called Adam. He was friendly, attentive and is credit to his employers.
We were greeted by a very pleasant woman at reception who explained everything to us. She was very helpful in suggesting tours, places to eat etc. A very comfortable large room with everything we needed. Would recommend this hotel to friends.
