This hotel has so much character. The interior of the rooms were stunning. We were upgraded to a room facing the river with a veranda. Beautiful. The room was spacious and light with a comfortable bed and pillow. We were able to sit on the restaurant patio for breakfast. The pool was stunning although we didn't take a dip. We were given a voucher for a complimentary drink on our first evening in the bar which was very nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The one draw back was the distance from the town but taxi's were very cheap and it was nice to retreat to the quiet of the hotel after a days sight seeing
Very nice rooms and amenities at this hotel. The staff were very helpful and to pool was pleasant. The breakfast was particularly good with a wide assortment of food.we had a drink outside the bar on the Terrace and the drinks and service were very good Would have liked to stay longer.
We had 2 night in August in deluxe river view rooms with our teenage sons. Very nice rooms overlooking the river with large balcony. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Hotel seemed quiet at time of our visit, restaurant empty in an evening and was very expensive for dinner ( we ate only breakfast in the hotel ...which was very good ). Pool area very nice, big clean pool and large area of sunbeds and patio. Some noise from construction work going on between the hotel grounds and the Perfume river which was a shame in the day, I do hope building here is not going to obstruct the view for the hotel. Great location for visiting the town and also the ancient citadel. We all had excellent massages in the spa and the staff were all very pleasant and friendly. Would definitely recommend and stay again if in the area.
In the category of historic building renovated in hotels, that one is worth! It's a must stay hotel during your trip though Vietnam and specially colonial history. It's simply indescriptible, just go there - there is not a lot hotels like this one. With a private Spa (only for customers of the hotel), a nice garden, a wonderful swimming pool and all of that with a Perfume river view in the background. Manage to book a balcony room with the river view or the most, river + garden view. It's just astonishing. About the service, they often live up to the scenery but sometimes come to the worst. I found some staff incredible nice and other were just disrespectful for the price you pay. As example during the breakfast a waitress refused to serve me a yogurt because It was on the buffet and after that ignored me - In the same time she came 3 times to the neighbor table to ask if they needed something. Not fair and annoying. Beware, they are expanding the hotel to the riverbank which makes many noise, this is maybe not the best moment for a stay. Also we can maybe regret that the new owner/investor need to expand the place. Hope they won't destroy what makes this hotel very special.
We expected La Residence in Hue to be good..... but it was fabulous! The Old French Governor's palatial abode, it has been lovingly transformed into a sensational modern upmarket hotel whilst still keeping its sense of a bygone time. If you like Art Deco you will adore this place! Beautiful architecture, a great restaurant, sensational pool and a fabulous spa & beauty salon... what more could you want? Oh yes, it's also a convenient location for exploring the wonderful old citadel of Hue, the former Imperial capital.
La Residence Hue can only be described as a real 5 stars hotel. The Hotel is beautifully kept and maintained and pleasant to the eye. One negative comment on check in the desk clerk appeared to be on a mission to sell us extras but this was easily overcome avoiding the particular member of staff and concentrating on the wonderful hotel and the other staff members.
We booked a Colonial suite and were upgraded to the amazing La Suite du Resident, with the biggest terrace I have ever seen, overlooking that stunning French colonial style property. Everything is exquisite at La Residence with great care given to the 1930's decoration. Service is impeccable, friendly with, as we were there at low season, extremely dedicated staff. We booked the river cruise and tour which appeared to be very useful as we did not know much about the history of the city. Our guide was very nice and extremely knowledgeable. The spa treatments were just perfect with very professional staff. We highly recomend the food at the Vietnamese restaurant as well. The pool is a must, very large and peaceful, perfect for just doing... nothing between 2 visits. We hope to be back soon for more discoveries in Central Vietnam.
In all respects--room, service and food--this ranks with the world's best hotels. Both the buffet breakfast and the dinners are of at least ** quality. The location is convenient with beautiful river views, and the hotel was most helpful in arranging a car and driver for our touring. Expensive, but well worth the prices.
I had the opportunity to stay at La Residence Hue Hotel & Spa on a recent "quick visit" to Hue, Viet Nam. I arrived from Hoi An by car and was immediately greeted by a warm and friendly staff. They offered me a welcome refreshment drink while they checked my travel documents and within minutes I was shown to my room. The room was a luxury suite, I think, and while the TV and some amenities appeared a bit dated the room itself was lovely with a small veranda. The location is central to walking the south side of the river. The property is beautiful with views of the Perfume river and the flag atop the Citadel main gate. History for sure. In addition the property has a number of historical references including photos of all of the 12 emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty. The outdoor area by the bar offers a covered patio and they're cocktail and wine selection was international. The breakfast and dining area, although different, were equally as pleasant and the food, both choices and quality, were excellent. I really can't say enough about this hotel. The location was good too. Last but not least the service and the hospitality we're 5 star. I felt like family.
As described by other reviews, it is a beautiful art deco hotel with fantastic service. The property is wonderful and relaxing. Excellent pool overlooking the river. Great bar to unwind and fairly decent gym to work off the banh mis. Hue is definitely worth a stop if you're visiting Vietnam. I stayed here two nights and was happy to come back to this hotel after busy days of sightseeing. I would go back to Hue for this hotel alone.
