We stayed for 2 nights as a family of 4 ( 2 adults, 17 and 14 yr old boys) with 2 interconnecting rooms. Rooms were so spacious, with great facilities and very comfy beds. Air con meant we were always very comfortable. The pool was warm and inviting for a cooling swim with sunloungers around and bar to order food and drinks around the pool ( very relaxing) . Fabulous breakfast buffet included. We were greeted with a welcome drink during check in. The staff were extremely attentive and gave great service at all times. We ate evening meals out and the location was great for walking to different restaurants / cafes in Hue.
This hotel has hold on to the charm and atmosphere from when it was built, even the beds. So if you like the old rococo style and dont mind a hard madress, I would recommend this Hotel. You also lie close to the ancient city and the perfume river. Wich gives you a perfect starting point for different things to do.
We stayed for two nights, a group of six in three rooms. The hotel is historically charming and brilliantly located overlooking Eiffel's Bridge. Charlie Chaplan stayed here during his honeymoon and I was lucky enough to have a tour of his suite Our Premium Riverview room overlooked the bridge and was large and well equipped. I thought the room could have been improved with a sofa and new bedding. The bathroom had lovely marble on the wall, but I felt the black floors made it feel dark and that white marble floors would return the room to being top class! I loved all the historic photos in the corridors, but thought the carpets could have done with a clean, I did have an unfortunate incident with a lamp switch, that could have caused me to be electrocuted (see picture). Unfortunately it was the one thing that wasn't well handled by the staff- instead of sending up a Manager to check on my welfare, they sent a Porter who simply replaced the lamp. Apart from this incident the service was first class and the best we received in Vietnam. We dined in Jules Ferry Restaurant and the food was very good. Breakfast was served in the lovely courtyard and was also good- however the umbrellas need replacing, they're old and faded. I loved the atmosphere of the Saigon Morin Hotel and with some improvements, I believe it could again be one of Vietnam's best historic hotels.
We stayed at Morin for 1 night. The hotel preserves its colonial charms while the city slowly changing its image. A short walk from the backpacking quarter while still retains the heart of Hue at its door step.
If you want a hotel which is relaxing and close to most amenities in Hue, then this is the place. The breakfast is both western and Asian style and and was a very good quality. The swimming pool and was approximately 12 m long but as always, you have to time it right if you want to try to do laps. Nevertheless, it is very refreshing even if other people are in the pool.
This is an interesting place to review. It has very good and some not so good things about it. Firstly it has a beautiful French colonial facade . The floors in the room and some of the furniture was beautiful. The look and feel of the hotel is it's charm. It is well located across from the river and near many food and service options. We stayed, two couples, in Morin suites. The suites were huge but the entrance room in both were wasted being decorative but not practical. Friends room had problems with their air con and their fridge. Ours all worked well. Our shower was small though we had alternative over the bath. They had no bath but a bigger shower. It seemed the practicalities are where you can have a problem. However the charm of the hotel and it's staff make up for it's shortcomings. The restaurant where you have breakfast and the pool area are in an enclosed inside courtyard which has a nice fell about it. It can't be considered 5 star but I thought 3 undersells the charm of this place and I wouls stay again.
It is a beautiful and elegant colonial hotel which is definitely worth the price to stay, if you go to Hue. The room rate is reasonable and the locality is so convenient. On top of it, the room is so spacious and decoration is filled with parquet floor and timber furniture. It cannot be anymore demand if you pay this rate to stay in this old charming building. Furthermore, the garden court is so pleasant to have the breakfast in the morning with the old trees and fountain just around. In addition, the hotel staff are very well manners and helpful at all times.
Stayed for 3 night in this charming hotel. Really liked the colonial style of the building. The room was well furnished and huge. A Balcony and free breakfast was a welcome surprise. Hotel is located right next to the river putting it in a great spot. Favourite part of the stay was enjoying cocktails and coffee in the fantastic garden bar, which to our surprise was well priced. Hotel is expensive for Vietnam, but it is really worth it. Can't wait to come back.
The Saigon Morin was the first hotel on our trip to Vietnam. After the transfer from Da Nang it was a welcome relief to arrive at the hotel and check in. On arrival we were presented with a chilled juice and a cold towel which was a very welcome but pleasant surprise. We were shown to our room, a junior suite, overlooking the Truong Tien Bridge and the river. The suite was clean and comfortable with plenty of space to relax and unwind. We were pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of breakfast and on offer was a wide range of items from Western style to Asian style. It would have been wonderful to have been able to sit and enjoy a drink but with the 'La Panorama Bar' closed the choices for a drink were limited to the outdoor restaurant 'Le Rendezvous' or poolside neither of which would have provided a relaxing atmosphere. The staff were always welcoming and courteous but if I were to return to Hue I'm not sure I would chose to stay at the Saigon Morin again .. there was just something lacking. The hotel has a wonderful 'old world' feel to it but as odd as it is to say it was lacking 'soul'. Maybe it was just down to the fact that it was the low season but it just felt 'empty'.
Stayed here last year, so called in for a drink for old times sake. Had a couple of Marguerita's in the enclosed garden, beautiful setting, lovely staff, not cheap by Vietnam standards, but worth a visit
