We stayed for two nights at this hotel last month as part of a World Spree tour. The hotel is a charming old hotel but needs a lot of work as it is pretty run down, carpets and furniture etc. The courtyard is nice to sit outside to eat breakfast but the food was just ok. Not a lot of choices and probably the least favorite breakfast of our tour. We wanted to have a bite to eat after we checked in so they said you could sit in the lobby and the few food items that they had in the case looked ancient so we quickly left to find another restaurant outside the hotel. Overall you get what you pay for and it looked like there were much nicer hotels you could choose from other than this one.
We had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful old hotel which has stood the test of time and several wars. We stayed here as part of our tour of Vietnam. Rooms very comfortable with nice toiletries. I was in awe of the garden and took lots of pictures, resembled a beautiful french street cafe.we were only here for two nights and didn't get the chance to use the pool, but the weather wasn't ideal either for swimming but ideal for sightseeing. I found the hotel,s history and all the of pictures of bygone times fascinating. There is a bedroom dedicated to Charlie Chaplin who honeymooned there in 1930,s. We had a lovely meal in the garden on the first night and visited the walking street nearby on our second. Visited the imperial city and was amazed our much was still standing considering how severe it was bombed during the American war.Breakfast was adequate each day but a special thanks to all the staff who are a credit to the hotel, the maids all spoke, bell boys lovely and attentive especially one who was always smiling and said hello. A very special thank you to the lady in reception who hand stitched my suitcase when it split, just a couple of hours before my flight, you saved me losing anything.on our last day we found a beautiful gallery a couple of minutes walk from the hotel were you can watch the staff painting. All in all a very pleasant short stay in another part of a beautiful fascinating country.
Just located in downtown close to river, not so far away from busy Hue’s streets full of local or foreign restaurants, small hotels, souvenir’s shops or cafes. Furnished in imperial style 100 years back, serving breakfast outside in the garden, pool 🏊♀️ outside possibilities. For trip you book bicycle 🚲 or motorcycle 🏍 in many local small agencies if you dare to challenge yourself. Just opposite the hotel you find most interesting Hue’s attraction-citadel 😲
Lovely large rooms with a gracious feel to them. Old French colonial hotel with quite a history. Enjoyed our stay and the staff were very professional and helpful. Enormous dining room for breakfasts though the coffee was the worst I have tasted in Vietnam... I think its instant. Good location on the river and a short work to the citadel.
This was my favourite hotel on a recent tour of Vietnam. Comfortable, quiet, historic, well located, lovely staff and food. Even though the Hotel is close to the road, the traffic is fairly light compared to the other Hotels I stayed in! Hue, is one of the most pleasant areas to discover in Central Vietnam. While we were visiting, heavy rain delayed one of our excursions, but as the rain eased , we set off happily borrowing the room umbrellas which were most appreciated!
This is the nicest hotel in Hue. They serve delicious food at their lunch buffet and the entertainment was wonderful. This hotel is used for many special events and you will see couples coming and going in beautiful attire.
We stayed as a family for 2 nights. The staff were friendly but not warm and not as attentive as in other hotels I have stayed. The room (a triple with river view) was spacious, clean but had a couple of tiles loose in the bathroom and was just a little dated. The breakfasts were again adequate. It was too inclement to use the pool or have breakfast outdoors. Overall, the hotel has an air of pride and haughtiness about its illustrious past. But appears to be happy to be carried by its former glories rather than striving to be exceptional in the present.
This turn-of-the-century hotel had everything one could want: accessibility to the Imperial City and Eiffel bridge, a spacious room, and thoughtful staff. Though we arrived early from Saigon, the staff worked diligently to find us a room in the morning. Would definitely stay here again.
The tour I was on booked us here, in what is the oldest hotel in the city, built over a century ago and with various remnants of the French colonial era. That atmosphere compensated for some quirks that newer buildings would not have. My room was very spacious and elegant but the bathroom plumbing and HVAC needed fine-tuning. A lovely garden is used for breakfast and the hotel is well-located relative to downtown Hue and the major sites, such as the Imperial Citadel and the markets. Recommended for those who prefer atmosphere over contemporary sleekness.
The hotel is huge. Wraps around a whole city block with a large courtyard and large pool in the center. Very pleasant greeting, although not like what we had been having with check in sitting comfortably on sofas. Room was huge and comfortable. It does need some refurbishing, but it is an old building. Breakfast was decent.
