We really enjoyed this hotel. Sure it is slightly rough around the edges but if anything I think that adds to its charm. That said it is a more than adequate hotel The staff are very friendly and the breakfast despite what a lot of people say is very good. Nice pool area to relax by after a day sightseeing - Hue and its countryside is very hot even in April. I enjoyed looking at the photos in the halls - helps to bring to life the history of this hotel and what it has lived through in its almost 120 years. Given some of the reviews I read beforehand I thought this hotel might be average but it really wasn't - I just think that a lot of these reviews where people are complaining or nitpicking are the 'package tour' type where they've stayed in very nice hotels in Hanoi or HCMC and Saigon Morin is not as polished as those hotels. Happily stay here again.
This was our second stay at Hotel Saigon Morin, very comfortable as it is there are signs of its age creeping through. Rooms are airy and spacious, outdoor pool area needs more sun beds and staff should be more observant of dining guests. Breakfast was good with the local Pho being the highlight. Huge menu could certainly be shortened...
Old hotel with lots of characters built by the French in the early 1900s. situated in the heart of the city and by the Perfume River, the hotel is close to everything. Our room was huge (50 something sqm) with nice decor. We enjoyed the room's River view and buffet breakfast served in the beautiful courtyard of the hotel the most. Pool is not very big but had very good bar service. However, there were lots of mosquitoes in our room and we found a few bites on my arms and face, which was terrible. We would considering staying here again
We arrived at the hotel to be informed we had been upgraded to a suite. I asked if it was a balcony room and it wasnt. The receptionist informed me to have a look at the room and if I didnt like it I could change. The suite was magnificent, but as I wanted a balcony to watch the hustle and bussel, I changed room to a balcony room, the balcony room wasnt as big as the suite, but was certainly big enough for us. From the bell boy to receptionist, we were very impressed, they were friendly and attentive. As we were only staying one night, the receptionist said if we would like to see any of the sites, they could arrange short tours for us. The buffet breakfast was fantastic, as the weather was good, we sat in the outside dinning area. This hotel has good wheel chair access to all area's, including good access in rooms. The hotel reflects a mixture of elegance of days gone by with a touch of the modern world. Wonderful place to stay.
This is a classic hotel with a a superb location just next to the river. Ten minutes from the citadel. Facilities are dated but functional. Breakfast is good. Friendly staff. Rooms are huge and aircon works fine. My only complain will be that the shower temperature was difficult to manage.
Hotel Saigon Morin is one of the oldest hotels in vietnam. Accommodations have large rooms with balconies overlooking the river. You can feel the antiquity in this hotel as if you were in the 1920s. Ideally located by the river and walking distance to the Citadel and if you go the opposite way, a few blocks away from the bars and nite life.
We traveled troughout Vietnam and compared to other 4 star hotels this one unfortunately did not met our expectations. It looks quite impressive from the outside, but once inside we noticed that it is pretty outdated. The furniture in our room was worn out and the curtains as well as the walls had a lot of stains on them. Of course it is normal to find mosquitos in Vietnam, but in the first 10 minutes we already killed about 4 and other ones we couldn’t reach. There were also a few small bugs in the bathroom. They keep the windows on the hallways open all the time, which isn’t really smart if you ask me. Luckily we only stayed here for one night. The hotel staff was friendly and the location was good, but that is not enough for me to go back there. Maybe if they renovate the rooms it will be better.
Wow. Everything about this hotel took our breath away. The lovely French colonial decor coupled with the historic vibe of the hotel made us feel like we had stepped back in time. The breakfast buffet was extensive. The services in the spa were beyond expectation. Great central location.
The hotel is situated at the Le Loi, the very busy street along the river. So you have some noise in the rooms that overlook the river. Our room was spacious, well furnished, but it had hard mattresses. The garden of the hotel is very nice, it is a pleasure to have breakfast or dinner there. We had a three-day-arrangement that included a massage, a city tour by car, and a set dinner at one evening. It was worth the money. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We booked a transfer to Hoi An at the hotel. It was not expensive and we could visit several things on our way: the pass, the Cham-Museum in Da Nang, and the marble mountains.
We were upgraded and our room was simply amazing. We would rate it 4-5 Star. Bathroom was spacious, room was big enough for a family of four. Everything was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was of a high standard.
