Newly refurbished....great location ! Great deal in Hudson for the price.

We'd stayed there before so knew what to expect, Manager Sam extremely accommodating, as other staff. Would suggest a chair and reading lamp apart from ones over desk and bed. Excellent self-serve breakfast with varied options. Good location at top of town.

Good location. New Lobby furnishings. Nice staff. Good value.

Unfortunately, our room key did not work probably. The hotel clerk was very helpful and realized when the mater key did not work it must be the battery in the door lock that was bad. It was a Saturday afternoon when we checked in and a Monday morning when we checked out. Some how the maintenance crew were able to temporally fix the lock. We stayed in room 302. May or may not stay there again.

I was well aware when I booked the reservation that the hotel wasn't going to be 5 stars for the room rate I was paying. Also, a friend who lives in Hudson, gave me the heads-up that the hotel was a bit tired and could use some updating. But I figured I wasn't spending alot of time in the hotel room and the location was more important. One surprise that ruined the stay was a $30 early check-in fee. I called the hotel a couple of days before arriving to inquire if I could check-in before 3:00 since the shuttle I was taking me to the wedding was leaving at 3:45. You sure can. We know alot of people are going to the wedding. 1:30 or 2:00 check-in will be fine. Nothing was mentioned over the phone about an early check-in fee. I only found out when I arrived at 2:30. The woman who was checking me in said, They won't tell you about the fee over the phone. I can understand if my room wasn't ready and they needed to reassign me to a room that had already been cleaned. But the envelope for my room with the key was sitting on the desk ready to go. I didn't inconvenience anyone and had to pay an extra $30. That seems crazy! If I am ever in Hudson again and in need of a hotel I will stay somewhere else. It's the principle.

The hotel apparently has seen better times, the breakfast room gives a glimpse. I was looking for an economic solution for one night, and this hotel fit the bill perfectly. Even free breakfast (continental simple) included.

This was a stop off night on our way back to NYC. The location was great as it is right in town. The building is very old and looks shabby. In fairness they were doing renovations in lobby and breakfast room. The receptionist did not even mention the construction in the lobby. The hotel is old and needs an update. The room was basically clean but carpets old and dark. As it is located in the 700 block of town we walked the town and dined in restaurants which we already knew and they were great.

We wanted a half way place between Catamount and Windham. This place fit the bill perfectly. Not much to look at on the outside, but inside was great. Room came with mini fridge and microwave. Staff was friendly and eager . Breakfast was okay, what you expect for a Continental Breakfast. Would recommend for a good bang for your buck.

The St. Charles Hotel was great--clean, enjoyable and perfectly located to Warren Street and all of its antiquing and shopping.

I tried this hotel despite some older bad reviews. Mostly because there were newer ones that said it had been renovated. The front desk staff member was wearing a Monster hat & shirt, was pleasant but not overly inspiring of confidence. The rugs were stained & worn with traces of white powder along the edges & the spell of carpet fresh in the air. I cancelled my second night & stayed in a room rented by a local Italian restaurant that cost a little more but was clean and comfortable. Recommend not staying here.

Staff, location and room were great. Simple English muffin breakfast in lobby room with a magnificent tin ceiling. Erin at front desk (she seems to do everything) was friendly and helpful. Loved it.
