I stayed at the Hotel Santa Cruz several times in between climbing trips to the mountains and liked the place very much. The hotel has space rooms and a wonderful view on the mountains from their breakfast / dining room. I found the staff friendly and helpful. They arranged a dinner when I arrived late at night, breakfast when we left very early in the morning, assisted with laundry service which was ready the same day and luggage storage. I can definitely recommend the place.
The hotel is in a great location about 10 mins walk to the main square which was perfect as it can be noisy closer to the centre. On arrival we got a welcome cup of coca tea and sat by the fire it was perfect and so cozy! We got a room with a balcony but the views are incredible throughout the whole hotel. The staff where incredibly helpful and even when there was a slight mix up with our packed lunch for a hike we ordered didn’t get made, they apologised and gave us a late check out which was the whole day free of charge! Very nice gesture! I would recommend staying here if you are planning on seeing Huaraz and I’d come back.
Incredibly comfortable beds with great quality bedding, a great hotel restaurant with simple breakfasts and dinners, and just such an amazing and accommodating team. It was such a perfect place to acclimatise and base ourselves before and after the trek. I trusted them so much I left my rental car in their care for a week with the key!
This once-elegant hotel has much to offer if you don't mind some aesthetic compromises, such as old mismatched linens and a heaping helping of wear and tear from backpackers passing through. Bathrooms appear to have been remodeled very recently--attractive and fresh--and sunrise views from the rear rooms, with balconies overlooking the town, are quite spectacular. Staff is very nice, and kitchen is surprisingly dedicated and skillful; menu is quite basic, but execution is superb. Glad we stayed there.
While traveling for backpacking, there are a few things I look for in a hotel, once we arrive back in the city. Cleanliness, comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. This hotel has very clean accomodations. The beds are very comfortable with warm down comforters. The bathrooms were also nice and clean. The dinning area on the main floor has spectacular views. If you want a room with a view, book one on the backside. The front side is street side. Half of our group had the street side, half the back side. While we were there, the street side was not too noisy. I hope to stay here again when we return summer 2018.
The hotel is about 10 minutes from the center but walking is safe and taxis are about $1.5. Thanks to Willy and the staff our stay was great. Willy helped us book all the trips, went out of his way to show us around town and did everything possible to make our stay comfortable and carefree. The rooms are large with a great view to the mountains and breakfast was great. Highly recommended.
Hotel Santa Cruz is great and makes you feel like home. Great breakfast every day they change the menu and if needed they cook specially for you. Service is awesome Flor, Janette and Willy will try to make your trip as easy as possible. Book your tours with them they will give you great service and great prices. A tour that must do is Paron Laguna. The hotel is clean, comfortable a little far from center but just a 10 to 15 minute walk. Good for health.
We stayed here a couple of times during our trip. Great large double room with balcony overlooking the view to the mountains. Wood fire in the public area in the morning and evenings. Nice breakfast, different every day. 25 minutes walk from the restaurant area. A few glitches - when a group of of us got back from trekking only the first few got hot water in the showers. Also the bedrooms are unheated and a bit chilly. Our last night here was awful with extremely loud music until 4 am from a nearby university venue.
This was the first hotel we stayed at in Peru and we thought it was a perfect introduction. We had arranged pick-up from the bus station through the hotel and they kindly waited as our bus was over 1 hour late. When we arrived at the hotel it was early in the morning but they let us check-in straight away and gave us our first cup of coca tea. We decided to pay for breakfast that morning and it was delicious. The breakfast room has floor to ceiling windows providing great views of the mountains. For the included breakfast the next day they kindly started early for us as we needed to leave to hike Laguna Churup. The room had a massive king bed and a balcony with great views of the mountains. The staff were so kind and helpful providing lots of advice on Huaraz, hiking to Laguna Churup and transport to the next towns (Caraz and Yungay). We would highly recommend staying at Hotel Santa Cruz when in Huaraz. P.S. Let me know if you have any questions hiking Laguna Churup.
Not to far from the center, very clean and warm rooms, the bathroom had hot water at all times, room with balcony had wonderful view of the mountains. The staff and the manager did everything and more to make sure our stay was comfortable. Also they help us with the booking of the tours.
