Everything is perfect here. The family that runs the place is very friendly and helpful for finding hikes etc. The location is very quite, but at walking distance to the town center. Facilities are good: room, bed, hot shower and very good WiFi also. You can use the kitchen, and a small supermarket with fresh food is only 50 mtr down the road. Perfect place for hikers. I stay here for a week. Many good advices from the owner for hiking, both organized as self guided.

I really enjoyed my stay here. This place is clean, includes a breakfast and has good wifi. Also the house has an authentic Peruvian feel to it which I enjoyed. The owner has a lot of trekking experience and can give you advice on single day trips or can help you book a multi day trek. I would definitely stay here again!

If I'm going to Huaraz again I would always go back to this hostel! I'm also recommending it to all of my friends traveling there! The Hostel is a bit hidden outside of the city center but that's no problem because the taxi usually is not more than 5 soles from the city center. We had great flexibility for check-in and check-out, which was very comfortable! The rooms clean and bright and we had enough blankets to stay warm during the night :) The owner of the hostel helped us with every concern we had and helped us organize our trips there. He made breakfast for us and we could always get warm water in the kitchen for tea. When a friend of us wanted to stay over for one night it was for a little extra price also no problem although the hostel was already booked out. One of us had a few problems with one taxi driver and the owner of the hostel was very kind and helped us solve it! 100% recommendation for this hostel and the nice owners!

Especially good for people who are still new to the continent and need guidance. Walter and his family really take care of you and all for a very good price! Highly recommend! I was there with 3 friend and the room is great and the location is quiet and still just 5 min walk to the center.

Huascarán Hostel is nice, but my partner and I booked two nights and the first night they put us in a room in a house nearby. We would have appreciated to be notified that they didn't have space in their hostel before hand as this homestay was not the hostel we were looking forward to. This room was very cold, the shower took ages to get warm water (not even hot), on the top of the door there was a window which was missing the glass, so basically we could hear everything on the corridor and street (It was a open corridor) and was freezing, the room didn't have natural light, the bathroom hadn't been cleaned, toilet seat was missing, the pillows were missing their cases and I asked the owner of the house bout all the missing, not cleaned things. She excused herself and told me she had been away for the day. It was 9pm at night, she cleaned the bathroom and changed the bedsheets. It was very uncomfortable for us to have to let her know the room was not "ready". Next night we stayed at the Huascaran hostel which was clean and had a nice hot shower. Internet was slow, but as bad as we have experience in other parts on the cost of Peru and in Huaraz, intermittent, connecting and disconnecting. The hostel has a nice basic kitchen that guest can use. They offer basic breakfast (egg, butter, jam, two breads, juice, and tea or coffee). They have a garden and roof top which are outdoors and it is nice for the day while it is sunny, but it is missing a common area to stay at night and be warm. The building is cold and you need to wear you coat all day, there isn't type of heating neither in the rooms not in the building. The owners area nice family and Walter can help you with ideas about tours and hikes. They also have gear you can rent. I would go back to this hostel if the had a common warm area to hang our in the evenings.

This is a nice hostel with a good breakfast in the morning and friendly staff. It was nice and quiet for us. If you don't get picked up, it can be hard to find the first time around, but it is a great place to stay and very quiet. I will be back.

We spent one night in Huaraz after taking the overnight bus from Lima to Huaraz. The host picked us up at the bus station and we went together to the hostel. It is located on a hill near the mountains and you have a splendid view of the montañas, especially of the beautiful sunsets! It is not noisy there so you can get a sweet sleep before getting up early to go on a trekking tour, explore the city of huaraz or the region itself. The rooms are spacious and very clean! The staff offered a tasty breakfast although it was very early in the morning: We were perfectly prepared for a long hike! Also, they helped us with useful tips for trekking (equipment, weather and altitude sickness, taxis, restaurants). They are amazingly friendly and speak English, too. We highly recommend this place to stay in Huaraz!

I highly recommend this place the staff are very friendly and gentle with their clients you can also take delicious breakfast in the lovely garden and enjoy a beautiful view of the snow mountain furthermore you can put a tent in the property if you like camping.

The Hostel itself is very, very nice. The rooms are clean, so are the hot showers. Unfortunately we only stayed one night, but Walter (the host) provided us with everything we needed and more. He picked us up at the bus station at 5 am in the morning and even served us a great breakfast (including fresh orange juice) after the over night bus ride. He then gave us very useful recommendations what to do during our stay and even organized a tour to the lake 69 (also highly recommendable) for us. We think that there is no better value for price ratio available in Huaraz.

Walter's hostel is a great place to stay in Huaraz - the rooms are very spacious and clean and I'm pretty sure the showers are the best in Peru! There are so many blankets in the rooms it would be impossible to get cold! The breakfast is delicious and perfect to set you up for a days trekking. The hostel is a bit out of town, but only a 10-15 minute walk, and the neighbourhood is very friendly! Walter is a fantastic host - he goes out of his way to ensure everything is perfect for your stay, he made us breakfast for 5am, walked us to meet our tours and took us to the bus station. We booked the Laguna 69 trek through him and had a very enjoyable trip at a very good price - I would recommended talking to Walter before booking with anyone else (a mistake we made with the Santa Cruz trek!).
