We stayed at the Hotel Colomba at the beginning and end of a trek around the Cordillera Huayhuash as part of a larger group. The hotel was a welcome and tranquil retreat yet within easy reach of the hustle and bustle of Huaraz. The rooms were comfortable and spacious and the breakfasts plentiful and tasty! Also loved the hotel dog (large) and cat(tiny) and the locally brewed 🍺 😎

The initial signs were promising, beautiful gardens and a quite calming atmosphere. The rooms were basic and the shower was in a state of decay. Getting hot water was an involved affair (despite there seeming to be one other couple in the hotel) with a long wait and frequent periods where the hot water cut out. The beds were hard and the towls scratchy. The Wi-Fi did not reach to our room and only worked (just about) in reception. Breakfast was mixed with stale bread and cearal, and bowls that were so small an anorexic person would have considered the portions dainty. The juice and eggs however were very good. The manager was a nincompoop, who was quick to anger as minor disagreement between us and him proved. He descended into shouting at us whilst we kept civil and cancelled out reservation for the rest of our stay at the hotel. In conclusion; we may have had a bad experience but I would not take the chance staying there.

We'd travelled by bus from Lima to Huarez and found just what we needed at hotel Columbia. Peaceful, cool, great garden and a warm welcome from on Old English Sheepdog - and pleasant rooms with a choice of teas and plenty of soap and towels. Close to the centre but far enough away. Take ear plugs because the neighbourhood dogs like the sound of their own bark - but you'll get that everywhere in the city.

Stayed here for many years. Clean and simple rooms with good hot water. Breakfast is excellent with a good range of local and western choices. Fantastic gardens and quiet relaxed environment. love it.

Stayed here on and off whilst climbing in the Andes - so it was a good base for that. Rooms are comfortable and clean with good sized bathrooms. They were cleaned every day. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast had a pretty good selection of fruit, cold meats and cheese, cereals, yoghurt, breads, scrambled eggs, bacon and chorizo sausage, fruit juice and hot beverages. Lovely gardens and owners didn't complain when we aired and dried our climbing gear outside, which was very understanding of them. Apart from breakfast, no food was available until 6.30 in the evening - I think they are missing a trick in not offering snacks during the day - there was at least one day when I felt like eating lunch there instead of walking into town - but that is a minor criticism. This hotel was ideal for our purposes and a lovely big friendly dog to boot!

The garden is nice with a big friendly dog. Rooms are just average, very basic. The breakfast is good with natural orange juice. Nevertheless, overall, the hotel is quite expensive for the value. Take into account that owner is currently making extensions of the property, building new rooms.

This small hotel is by no means luxurious but does offer basic accommodations amidst a small garden in an enclosed compound. Our room was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed a quiet sleep. The front desk "buzzes" you in through the fairly inconspicuous locked front gate. English is spoken at the front desk by day but being able to speak some Spanish was helpful at night. The hotel is located a short 10-15 minute walk/stroll from the center of town. Breakfast was included in our package and was basic continental fare. They have a luggage storage room.

Breakfast was good. Nice decent room size. The staff was really helpful when needed. The breakfast lady was really nice and made us breakfast the day we left thirty minutes early. Nice hotel. Huaraz was such a beautiful city!

The Hotel Columba is in the down town area of Huaraz which is hard to believe given it's secluded, quiet, and well manicured gardens. It's a 5 minute walk to the main shopping area with easy access to supermarkets, central city market, drug stores, and restaurants . The staff is very friendly and the rooms are spacious, well appointed, and clean. They also serve an extensive breakfast. I have stayed there many times and have never been disappointed with my experience.

I loved staying at the Colomba. They have beautiful gardens where we could relax and sunbathe. It is a little oasis away from the noise and hustle of Huaraz. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. I highly recommend.
