We stayed in seaview bungalow(room 702) for 8 days. Every morning, we wake up to the amazing sunrise that glows in the glittering sea. The hotel complex is rustic and works well with the nature and wildlife - butterflies, exotic birds, plus pond with frogs and fish. Interesting. Easy access to the beach, just a few steps away. There are hawkers selling food, clothing on the beach front (except Wednesday) but they are friendly bunch. The room is always clean, the same to the rest of the hotel. Staff always smile and work hard - 5 stars! There is a kettle in the room with tea & coffee facilities, lots of cold bottled water in a fridge. Other useful items such as small washing rack, flip flops, umbrellas, dressing gowns can all be found in the room. Breakfast is in the seafront restaurant with a few choices in the menu to select. The portions may be a bit small but you can help yourself to toasts, croissant , fruit etc. This hotel is small, located in the premium position of Hua Him beach, only 20 minutes easy walking to the City Night Market and town's night life. There are plenty of hostels/b&b, restaurants, self service laundry and supermarkets nearby. Quite convenient for all holiday needs. The only improvement for the Hotel is to give the external furniture new coat of vanish. This will improve the appeal of Veranda Lodge even further. Overall, highly recommended! Report
We visited Veranda Lodge a few times now and we just recently got married at Veranda Lodge. Yes, the resort is a little old and some maintenance is needed here and there. But these are more than made up with the rustic atmosphere, friendliness of staff and the sheer beauty of the beach right in front of the resort. We stayed in the Veranda on Sea room and booked nearly a dozen other rooms for our friends and family to stay. Everyone loved it! Most comments are the same about how clean and charming the rooms were. And the staff!! They are all so friendly and happy to accommodate us at all times! The wedding - Khun Tem, the owner/manager of the resort, is nothing short of amazing. She understands all aspects of the event and were able to organise it to the perfection. We had over 40 guests at the ceremony and nearly 100 at the reception, all of which were on the beach in front of the resort (all other hotels we inquired would not let us use the beach area!). I would not hesitate to recommend Veranda Lodge to anyone, whether for holiday, a quick get away or an unforgettable wedding!
Having stayed at various resorts in Thailand this has to rate up there with the best. The location is fantastic, just a 10 minute walk from the centre of town with great bars and restaurants. The hotel is located right on probably the cleanest beach in Thailand. The hotel is best described as rustic but that appeals to us, a family run super friendly hotel, we paid for a veranda on sea room and have to say we are not disappointed waking up every day to the sound of the sea and silver sand just a hop skip and jump away. Some reviews complain about the breakfast, we have to say that if you have a tongue in your mouth use it, it's a great system that they employ here, everything is cooked to order so hardly any waste, it's a shame more places don't do this style of breakfast. Our room is presented beautifully every day, with plenty of towels and fresh bed linen, one major plus point are the beach sunbed, your beds are reserved for you by the ever so friendly beach team so no rushing down to reserve a bed, plenty of room between you and the next guests, drinks are brought to the beach for you and served with a smile. We would not hesitate in recommending this hotel if you want something relaxing and a little bit special and look forward to returning in the not to distant future. Best wishes from room 702
This is our fourth stay at Veranda Lodge having first discovered this lovely restful place in 2006, when they just had the one main building and before the bungalows and villa were added a couple years later. But we have not been here since 2009 and that was before I was writing regular Tripadvisor reviews - so I was excited to return and to write what I hope will be a comprehensive review. I really enjoyed our stays here 10 years ago but had read some reviews in the past few years that made me wonder if I would enjoy staying here as much as I did before. So here are my thoughts and suggestions from our week long stay and hopefully can offer some reassurance on some of the more negative reviews. My overall highlights of Veranda Lodge in case you don't want to read the entire review: Location right on the beach. Small family owned establishment. Variety of rooms and options. Beautiful grounds. Decent Breakfast. During high season, Veranda Lodge's prices make it a really good choice given its location. Other hotels were charging twice as much. In the lower season, you might be able to get better deals at some of the other bigger hotels close by (Hilton, Marriott etc.) And one last personal highlight - I love the shampoo and shower gel Veranda Lodge provides! ( I know nobody else chooses a hotel based on that criteria but I was very excited to see that they still offer the same product!) The grounds are still beautiful with an incredible abundance and variety of flowering trees and shrubs. VL has a very natural aesthetic feel yet lots of trees mean lots of leaves to sweep up - which they do every day. The grounds are a paradise if you are a tropical plant lover. A previous reviewer wrote about the overall 'damp' effect of the grounds - I did not see this and also noted that the review came at the height of rainy season so of course things will be wet. Instead i see cascading bougainvillea, frangipani/plumeria trees, ginger and hibiscus and trailing vines up the main building. There are foot baths to wash your feet and small fish ponds in various places but I didn't see any mosquitos either. They did spray the grounds one day to combat mosquitos so they must exist but they distributed a letter to each guest saying what time they would be spraying. Contrary to a previous review, I didn't see any exposed wires and I don't think the brick work is so uneven as to be dangerous. (Do we ask old cities to smooth out their cobblestone??) And the swimming pool is clean and refreshing and definitely bigger than a ping pong table. There are a variety of rooms to choose from which probably causes some confusion. We have stayed in the main original building on all our stays and always found our rooms to be simple, clean and comfortable. Yes, the bathrooms in the deluxe room are small and the balconies even smaller but the balcony has a small table and chair and place to hang wet towels/clothes - so it works for me. As in any building higher floors are better so I would always go for the 4th floor. This time we stayed in one of the the long holiday suites which has a separate living area in between the bedroom and the next guest room (see photo diagram.) We were so grateful for this set up as it gives lots of space and serves as a buffer for noisy guests in the room next door. Do be advised that there is an adjoining door to the next room so it is possible to have two bedrooms share the living room. But that adjoining door also lets some sound through - our next door neighbor was a very loud snorer. The balcony suites also have two rooms but a much larger balcony to sit on and on the 4th floor you will have a nice view over the trees to the sea. The long holiday suites are at the end of the building and have the potential for hearing the garbage truck when it comes down the soi early in the morning - be advised of this. As far as the other rooms, ( I checked them all out) the bungalows are all in as great shape as when they were built ten years ago. Two of them have beautiful views of the beach (701 and 702). The others just have garden views and some are quite close together but do have porches to sit and read on should you want. The Villa has 8 rooms, 4 on the ground floor and 4 above. The ones in the front (601 and 603) have views of the water. 601 and 602 have side views of the empty lot next door. The others don't really have great views but the rooms are nice and more spacious than in the main building with a nice sitting area on the 2nd floor to enjoy the sea view. And speaking of the sea view, the restaurants view is unchanged - whatever meal you have there, it's beautiful and why we keep coming back! Back when we were last here, breakfast consisted of 3-4 set dishes (Eggs, French toast, thai porridge) that came with fresh fruit, grilled banana/pineapple, juice, coffee/tea and toast. These still exist but you order the hot item and then help yourself to other items in a limited breakfast buffet - cereal, breads, juices and fruit. Though not a huge variety, it's more than enough. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available in front of Veranda lodge. If you are a guest of VL you can pick your chair/spot for the week and it will be kept for you each day. Walk in guests can pay 300 baht per person and get a chair which also gets two drinks and wifi. Keep in in mind that the powers that be have ordered that hotels on the beach around Thailand cannot set up beach chairs or offer water sports on Wednesday - so no beach chairs that day - which actually makes the beach a lovely place to visit on Wednesday! Three places for improvement - some of the public areas - mainly in the main building (hallways/stairwell, some of the rooms) could used paint touchups. A previous review mentioned that it looked a little shabby and this is a way to easily make it shine. Some staff are helpful and engaged and others are much less so and seem rather disinterested. The young woman who organizes the beach chair system and rentals is quite amazing in how she keeps everything coordinated and people happy anticipating any issues. She was great. The one last area I would suggest to change is not having to log into the wifi every single time you turn your device back on or return to the room. The wifi works great but it was annoying to have to log in with a user name and password every time you wanted to check on something. Overall, I am very happy to have been able to return to Veranda Lodge and find that it is still as I remembered with some improvement - hopefully this long review will be helpful to someone.
First time in Hua Hin. Veranda lodge made the holiday memorable. Friendly staff and good food. Located on the beach. With good amenities. We plan to come again in the future. Loved breakfasts in the restaurant overlooking the beach.
The rooms were huge and immaculately clean. There were clean towels(slightly threadbare) every day. I am afraid that the showers and water pressure were way under par. The bed was very comfortable, as were the pillows. The pool was better than the online photos suggest, and the location is second to none. On site restaurant is good quality, but check how spicy the dishes are if that is not your thing. All the food we had was very good quality and well cooked. It is a little more expensive than the market village (5 minutes walk), but the view is worth it. Breakfast is expensive and sparse if not included with your room. There are better options for breakfast within a short walk if it isn’t included. In summary: Friendly, good value and great position, but a little run down. Don’t let that put you off, it adds to the charm
I stayed here for 4 nights. Pros - great location on Hua Hin Beach & walking distance of the centre of Hua Hin, Clean room, lovely view of the beach from the Veranda restaurant. Plenty of complimentary water placed in your room each day. Cons - the public areas of the hotel are quite shabby & in need of a revamp. I paid extra for a better room “in villa” but it only had a tiny balcony, shared with the room next door & facing the wall of the hotel next door. Also there was a public Veranda with rocking chairs right outside our room. The paved public walkways are very uneven & dangerous for anyone with walking difficulties like myself, I tripped numerous times & fell over twice. The breakfast is appalling, the cooked breakfast food is not buffet style, you order off a very limited menu, the fried eggs, sausage, bacon, baked beans & hash brown are all stone cold when they arrive, my partner & I laughed each morning wondering how many baked beans we’d get, usually between 5 & 7 on the plate. The hash browns were a soggy inedible cold mush. The coffee is from a vending machine & lukewarm, I’ve never seen this before in a supposed 4 star hotel. Some of the staff were friendly, others were cold & indifferent. The service was very patchy, you were handed drinks & food menus & expected to order immediately before you’d had time to browse & decide, when you asked for 5 minutes to browse the menu, you were then ignored for 30 minutes. The sunbed service on the beach for drinks & food was practically non existent, hardly any staff asked you if you needed drinks or food, you had to go to order it yourself. The public areas weren’t cleaned regularly enough. This hotel is definitely not a 4 star hotel, at the moment in my opinion it’s a 2 or 3 star standard, which is a shame as it has the potential to be so much more & a true 4 star hotel. There are other hotels in Hua Hin that cost a similiar price, but where the standard is much, much higher. Would I stay here again ? Maybe...... if the hotel revamped itself, sorted out its very uneven & dangerous public walkways, sorted out its appalling breakfast & trained its staff up properly to providing a better standard of service.
would not recommend this hotel to anyone, for a supposed 4Star rating , it leaves a lot to be desired. No buffet breakfast as advertised, we stayed for 13 nights and not once was there any hot water in showers, the grounds are disgusting with exposed electrical conduit everywhere, had rain while we were there so was a little concerned as the conduit was cracked/broken and wires exposed to the weather. The only saving grace was the beach location and sometimes friendly staff.
We stayed in a bungalow with small front balcony. Pool great, breakfast included Ok, Staff fantastic. Great place to totally relax and rejuvenate. Taxi Avery where 100-200 THB . Reception desk will tel, you what cost should be as no meter taxis in small town.. great lobster in night market cheap compared to home so great treat. Horse riding on the beach and they pick up do do in bag so beaches are clean and water clear .
Veranda Lodge is really a good choice in Hua Hin beach. Despite the Veranda being a beachfront hotel, a small nice pool is also available. On the beach some beach lounger are available in an area reserved for guests. All the staff are very friendly. If I come back to Hua Hin, I will stay at the Veranda for sure.
