The Rock Hua Hin Boutique Beach Resort4.5 out of 5.0

The Rock Hua Hin Beachfront Spa Resort is the most affordable beachfront resort that offers pool villas. But to be honest, with such an amazing beachfront pool, you'll never spend much time in your own tiny villa pool. Everything was excellent here, especially the attentive and caring staff. Some members at the reception desk even helped me order food from foodpanda. The villa was well equipped and clean and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was good, with a wide variety of continental, European and Thai dishes. I would highly recommend this hotel to any travellers going to Hua Hin.
I live in Cha Am, Thailand, just about 45 minutes north of this resort and had decided to get away for a couple of days. I found this place on one of the reservation websites and booked two nights. My only regret is that I didn't book a longer stay. Starting with check-in, the service was flawless. I had forgotten my passport, but the manager and staff were totally accommodating, being willing to use my Thai driver's license in lieu of a passport, but with an admonition that immigration does do checks from time to time and that if they were to show up I might well be required to return home and get it. The room was huge, gorgeously appointed, and luxurious with one of the biggest beds I've ever seen. And unlike the rock hard mattresses that you'll typically find in the less expensive hotels, this one slept like a dream. Hardwood flooring, spacious balcony overlooking a clearing with woods in the distance, big, soft towels, an enormous bathroom with huge, two-person tub and immense shower stall...in short, the room was fabulous. The included buffet breakfast was large, quite good, and included a choice of eggs prepared to order along with French toast, pancakes, pastries, fresh fruit, and a number of Thai food options. The grounds were well-kept and beautifully landscaped. The swimming pool sits directly adjacent to the beach and has a lovely surrounding deck and adjoining bar area. You step from the pool area directly onto the beach. One of the only negatives about this hotel (which, in fairness, is typical of virtually all hotels on Hua Hin beach) is high tide. At low tide, there is a large swath of lovely beach that stretches a hundred meters or more to the waterline. At high tide, however, the beach completely disappears and the waves wash right up to the pool deck. The location, while away from the central part of town, is still quite convenient. There are several restaurants, convenience stores, coffee shops, and even a pharmacy within a couple of minutes walk. The rest of town is just a short tuk-tuk or songtaew ride away. I've traveled a good bit throughout Thailand, and The Rock is my favorite venue to date. I WILL be returning. A well-earned "Thank You" to the management and staff for a memorable visit. If you're looking for a delightful experience at a mid-range hotel, this is definitely the place.
We stayed 10 days in this lovely beach front hotel with my boyfriend and we loved it! The hotel staff is really friendly and the hotel is very calm. You can walk straight to the beach and sea directly from the pool. The hotel offers a free shuttle to the center 3 times a day. My boyfriend had bday during our vacation, and the staff surprised us by singing and bringing him a bday cake when we were eating breakfast. I would warmly recommend this hotel to everyone!
The room we had has a huge space, love the way they did in the shower room where it use natural light during morning. We had quite a lot of issues in this resort; First, only few staffs can understand English well especially in front desk, only Dada can speak english fluently. Waiters and waitresses are mostly preoccupied with something and only May and the senior waiter in the breakfast area are the attentive one. Breakfast is okay but simple request such as ice coffee they don't do. Cocktails drinks are harmless you wont even taste the alcohol in there. Most of the woods in the resort needs to repaint or to varnish again. Personally I don't recommend the room with private pool because people from the nearby condominium can see everything in the resort so you get no privacy in there. To be fair I love their pool and tom yum koong. You will feel safe in this resort because it has a lot of cctv around the resort.
Taking into account that this place claims 4 1/2 stars the reality is rather disappointing. On the positive side are the friendly staff and the spacious suites. Yet there are many "contra" sides. The formerly white sand in the whole area around the hotel is gone and there is only a heavily eroded grey sanded seafloor showing up during low tide. The water front today is a mere stretch of walls that shall protect the properties from further erosion. The hotel site itselves looks like a long scarf, being just a few meters broad and strechting a long way from the street to the waterfront. It is almost fully covered by buildings and a long walkway with very little space for leisure or living trees and plants. What also disappointed me is the heavy use of plastic plants all around the site. The exterior and interiors show a need for renovation and more mainteinance. The pool is good for a short swim, yet its strong chlorine smell stays even on the skin for some hours. The cocktails we tasted were just bad. Much better was the food served for dinner. The breakfast buffet was ok, but on the level of a three star hotel. To wrap it up, even the discounted price I paid was significantly overpriced.
The staff is more than friendly and helpful. The rooms are big and beautiful, and the beds and pillows are perfect. The rooms are clean. They have a fridge. You get water every day.The restaurant is a ground floor rest. And there is no view, but it is cosy. The breakfast is good, they are serving different kind of eags- you order. The buffet is with everything from bread, youghurt, Thai food and fruits. The pool area is not so big, but there are room enough for everyone. Towels by the pool.Access directly to the beach. You can enjoy lunch or dinner by the pool area. If you want to have a special dinner on the beach, you can order a day in advance.
We LOVED the rooms, pool and location of the rock - right on the beach and looks just how it was in the pictures!! It absolutely exceeded our expectations for what we paid, and had all the amenities of a big resort without all the people. The pool bar was also fantastic, both a la carte dishes and cocktails. Great value as well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However, the breakfast was not good at all - we had it included but only went once. For a buffet breakfast, there was only one oldish white bread for toast, some cereal, fruit and bacon/sausages floating in oil. There was also french toast and pancakes but everything was just out on plates - no hot plates or anything. All the other food though, both thai and western (especially the papaya salad, pasta, noodle salads and stir fries) were delicious. Thanks so much to the team at The Rock for making our stay so lovely :)
Spend two nights in The Rock Hua Hin, very pleasant stay. Room was spacious and clean, some mosquitos flying in when door was open. There's room for reading, area to lay down beside pool. Private beach was nice, encounter some jelly fishes as well. Had thunderstorm on the second night, electricity was cutted off for one or two hours (no genset). Overall, it's a nice place to stay and lay back.
The hotel is a very nice hotel the staff are very friendly and cant do enough for you. We had one of the rooms with a private pool in the pictures of the private pools the plants by the pool are low, They have now grown and are approximately 7ft tall and as a result very little sunlight in the pool area and a cold pool. The rooms are very nice with all you could want. What lets this place down is the lack of beach because for the 6 days we were there in November / December the tide was always in until late in the evening. I think they should advise travelers what times of year there will be no beach. The pool area i found to be quite nice unlike an earlier reviewer there is also a a moon deck where you can sit and look out to sea.. The shuttle is not really worth using as the Buses(green pick up trucks) are only 25p a journey and you are not tied down to a set time. The Night Market is also worth a visit.
The best thing about this hotel is the staff who are charming. The room we had a pearl room was spacious and clean. However the hotel needs a refurbishment, the pool area is not that reflected in the photographs it’s very tired and seriously needs an update.Equally the breakfast area which is a depressing internal room with no charm whatsoever. The breakfast itself was the worst we experienced in our three weeks of travelling through Cambodia and Thailand not the cooking but the food on offer. It would take very little to improve this hotel but until that was done I would not recommend staying here. If you are considering this hotel look closely at the photos and decide yourself.
