Our experience with this reservation was extremely disappointing. Approximately 30 minutes before our scheduled check-in, the host canceled our reservation, citing issues with the property. Although an alternative property was offered, no photos or meaningful details were provided, and our questions went unanswered, making it impossible to determine whether it would meet our needs.We were in Houston because my father was undergoing a procedure at MD Anderson Cancer Center and required accommodations that would allow him to remain elevated during recovery. Unfortunately, our trip coincided with the FIFA World Cup and Fourth of July week, leaving very few lodging options. Because we could not find suitable accommodations, we were forced to drive 2½ hours each way, adding significant stress and expense during an already difficult time.VRBO assured us that we would receive a full refund and assistance with additional lodging costs up to the amount of our original reservation. Despite those assurances, we have still not been reimbursed and ultimately had to dispute the charge through our bank.I understand that unexpected property issues can arise. However, canceling a reservation just 30 minutes before check-in, failing to provide a comparable alternative or respond to reasonable questions, and leaving the reimbursement unresolved created an avoidable and extremely stressful experience. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this property or this host.
