Bergen is a very Nice city .you will like tour stay
Stayed here attending a week-long conference and was very pleased with the hotel's setting and organization. Very convenient location, new rooms with very modern amenities, great free wifi everywhere, petit but fully equipped gym. Although the hotel seemed to be packed (was serving as conference venue and with a load of tourists as well), breakfast buffet was always very well catered with a huge array of choices. Staff was right on and helpful. Overall, great service as conference venue and guest. Would definitely stay here again.
We only stayed for 3 nights on a quick trip to Bergen. Hotel was in a great location and was very nice We were in late August so had no issues with long lines at reception. Breakfast buffet was awesome- - good variety and also kept full and fresh.
We arrived after traveling all day in our "Norway in a Nutshell" tour from Oslo. Checked in late at night and after 15 min somebody opened our room with a key, we freaked out, turned out they had given this guy our same room!?! We spoke with reception, and were treated quite disrespectfully by the person in charge, who interrogated us as if we were the ones at fault, quite incredible... they eventually recognized they had messed up, offered a drink...which we did not want or need at that point. We tried to unpack, but had NO CLOSET!! just two small bars in the wall with 4 or 5 hangers, no shelves, no drawers, no nightstand space...so our stuff stayed in our suitcases. The room looked nice and spacious, of course, if you have no storage whatsoever it was bound to look bigger than it actually was...My nightstand consisted in a small niche in the wall which did not fit my IPad, just my glasses... There was an electric water pitcher for coffee, but no outlet to plug it in... A board hinged to the wall to act as a desk with an inclination that made anything you tried to put on it slide directly to the floor... oh well, I could go on and on... terrible terrible room.
I chose the hotel because 1. I used SAS hotels for 10 years on business in other Scan cities and had excellent service, and 2. I was meeting a travel group there 3 days after check-in and did not want to transfer with heavy luggage from another hotel. The convenience was well worth the slightly higher cost compared to other Bergen offerings, and their excellent breakfast was typical of SAS hotels. I asked for a quiet room and had one; the lack of a view was not as issue as I was only in the room to sleep anyway. The furnishings in my room showed a little wear, but were comfortable and efficient to use, and the free internet worked every time. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful.
The initial room offered had serious mold in the bathroom, complete with a moldy smell. The next room was dark, the matress very soft from many years of use, and the furniture a bit beaten up. The automatic key system seems to assume one-night stays and locked us out every afternoon, requiring a daily check-in trip to the registration desk on a prepaid 5-night stay. Staff helpfulness varied greatly.
