Staff at the hotel were very welcoming and helpful. We arrived and the driver dropped us across the street. The doorman rushed over and helped us across. He was there everyday and always welcomed us warmly. The breakfast was very nice and fresh. Very close to Ben Thanh markets but make sure that you check out the Ben Nhy food court/market around the corner. It is by far the best place to eat at in the area.

Never a four star hotel

This hotel is a complete dump - heaven knows how it got a 4 star ranking. I have stayed in 7 hotels on this trip to Vietnam, five of them 3* and the Sky Gem is well behind them in terms of quality. The bedroom was without window, smelled damp and in need of renovation and redecoration with ancient electrical fittings. There was no proper desk/table to work at. No glasses bar tooth mugs. The bathroom had a small bath with mold on and around the grouting. Breakfast was abysmal - no fruit jiuce, cold coffee (hot plate not even switched on), dishes of dried up food less than lukewarm. no cheese or tomato and the poorest selection of fruit I have seen at any Vietnamese hotel. The breakfast staff were like grumpy school dinner ladies barking at guests how many minutes they had left. Even clothes sent to the laundry came back damp. If you don't care about food, cleanliness or amenities, the location is good,
