I stayed here for 5 nights during a visit to teach at a university at the end of May. Apart from the ideal location, I also appreciated the friendly staff, who were always there to answer questions. I had a two-bedroomed apartment and felt very comfortable. It is quiet and yet still within easy reach of District 3's excellent restaurants. So I didn't actually use the fully contained kitchen. The apartment was clean; it was cleaned on a daily basis. This is the second time I have stayed here in as many years. The laundry service was good, but perhaps slightly expensive. I would definitely stay again and would strongly recommend it as being very good value for money.
We stayed one night here - it’s just a few minutes walk from the War Remnants museum. A huge 2 double room 2 bathroom apartment with a great view too. A special mention to the staff who have been so helpful. It’s also very near Hum a vegetarian restaurant we had heard great things about. We would like to have stayed longer!
DISGUSTINGLY DIRTY, POOR MANAGEMENT, A TOTAL NIGHTMARE! I arrived last week for a three week stay hoping to have chosen properly. I did not! From the moment I arrived there were many problems. I rented a two bedroom apt. Upon arrival the apartment was not ready. The kitchen was overrun with roaches, the hood over the stove was dripping with grease and dirty. The (receptionist/manager could not open the door to the second bedroom. So they moved me to a three bedroom apartment. Management asked not to use the third bedroom. Management sent another employee to check the third bedroom was not being used under false pretenses (sneaky). After waking in the middle of the night the kitchen was crawling with roaches as was the first apartment. There are three TVs in the apartment only one worked. A week later they finally swapped out the cable boxes for working ones. The balcony was never wiped down or wiped until after a week. One of the dinning room chairs was broken also and that took a week to be replaced. The hood over the stove was greasy in this second apartment causing the Receptionist/manger to have to clean it. Pots and woks are nonstick with much of the non stick surface missing and damaged. A replacement wok was provided after a week also. Upon waking up early this morning to get a drink the roaches where on the march again crawling out of the sink in drawers and on the walls. Their answer was to put moth balls in the kitchen. (didn't work) Management has lots of excuses, they treat their employees and customers with disdain. They even go as far as calling their guests It. There is no one here to take responsibility for anything.
We stayed there for 3 nights. It's very comfortable and large, they gave us a 3 rooms apartment, but one room locked, for 3 people. We have our own kitchen, laundry, and 3 bathrooms. It just take about 10 to 15 minutes to walk to post office and church. We would definitely back here next time.
Our family of four, mum and dad plus two adult sons, found this apartment by luck, after some short stays at different hotels in Hanoi and HoChiMinh city and found them disappointing, even at certain 5 star hotel. Anyway, this apartment situated on a wide street with wide footpath (VN standard), no food stalls, no stench from sewer, not a lot of passing traffic throughout the day, all of which hard to find in any big city in Vietnam. We had a two bedroom apartment, the size of the bedrooms is spacious, which comes with a large lounge room, dining table, a lounge suite, a sparsely equipped kitchen (in case you want to cook a presumptuous meal !), a fridge, a microwave oven, a washing machine, tv’s, two bathrooms - one with shower cubicle, one with shower in the bathtub - we also had an iron and an ironning board, which we used quite often, as the balcony has a clothes rack to dry your washed clothes. Room service is free on the days we asked. The price is reasonable at approximately US$60/per night, considering we are 4 adult persons. Highly recommended.
We were upgraded from a one bedroom to three bedroom apartment. Lovely surprise. It was huge, comfortable, well-maintained and spotlessly clean. We have previously stayed in the backpacker neighbourhood and in the area closer to the Dublin Gate. Poonsa is many blocks away from both of these and gave us a whole new set of streets and neighbourhoods to explore, and was a very short walk to Turtle Lake, the War Remnants Museum and Tao Dan Park. Signage is confusing initially, and there a stadium construction site across the road, so I suggestion you check if there is any construction actively going on before you book. There wasn't when we were there.
Our family of 4 adults stayed in 2 bedroom unit during our last night in Vietnam. The apartment is very spacious and allowed us to meet with relatives and friends. It would be a great place to stay on a longer visit. The apartment has amenities such as washing machine, safe, and a large sofa in the living room. The receptionist is a very energetic and friendly young man. We could not have asked for a warmer welcome.
I stayed here for more than 3 weeks. At first, because they were overbooked, I was in a multi-bedroom apartment. I was then moved to my original booking, a "studio". In the Western world a "studio" has one meaning not evident at the Poonsa. I was in an average size hotel room where there was a grill and convection oven (both in the dresser drawer). There was no ventilation (and no place to plug in either unless you unplugged the refrigerator) in the room so my several attempts at cooking brought hotel personnel to the room. The only place to wash dishes was in the bathroom sink and the entire set up was sub optimal. Fine for a hotel room but it was NOT a studio. The balcony is a nice touch but overlooks a noisy street. Poor lighting. The staff, while confused on the 9th floor where there offices are, was very good and supportive especially Luong (sp?) the manager who smiles and is generally very helpful. The housekeeper was excellent! The location is very good, the COOP mart two blocks away and the heart of district 1 is a 15 minute walk. Very good laundry service. Above average wi-fi. The room would have been in the "pretty good" category if it was billed as a "hotel room" and not a studio, since he wasn't. Overall it is adequate for a short stay.
We booked 2 of the 3 bedroom apartment. When the taxi arrived at the address, the building name is Sagion Mansion apartment and not Poonsa, so a bit of confusion. The manager is friendly and helpful. The apartment is big and clean. 3 bathroom for the 3 bedroom. There is a water dispenser in the living room that can give cold and hot water. Kitchen is big, got stove and microwave but lacking in lot of utensils, so you can cook but you got no bowl or plates to put your food. As my room is facing the road, I can hear the honking of vehicles on and off but not too noisy as it is located at a quieter road. As we only stay for 1 night and to make good of that, we recommend XO tours, ladies on the bikes to see HCM city in 3 hours. A bit expensive but well worth it.Travelling via taxi is also a good way but be warned of being taken for a long unnecessary ride. Our other family took the recommended taxi by meter and need to pay 3x during the coming back journey. Although a few attractions like the war renmant museum, the palace, central post office and the cathedral are within walking distance but to us ( with kids and elderly), the attempts to cross any roads in HCM are crazy. It does take a lot of gut to walk in a calm and constant pace for the motorbikes to make judgement and not knocking onto u when u cross. Even on the walking pavement, they are weaving in and out with their motorbikes. So motorbike tour work for us for that 1 night to see HCM. Please also be warn that upon check out, the manager need to check through your rooms before u can go, so do give extra time for your check out. For that 1 night this apartment is OK but if I am to stay longer in HCM, I would prefer Sherwood residence that is one street across but more expensive.
My family and I stayed 4 nights here. Whilst it is in District 3 it is only around the corner from District 1 so it was very convenient to all the sights and attractions we were interested in, in Ho Chi Minh City. The staff were very friendly and helpful but you need to understand that this is a serviced apartment and not a hotel so there's no breakfast. It requires a little self sufficiency but that was not a problem at all. In fact Poonsa Serviced Apartments exceeded our expectations and it's where I'll be staying when next in Ho Chi Minh City.
