We stayed one night in a twin room. The room was clean and modern with light and bright furnishings. It was fairly spacious by Japanese standards, with plenty of room for us and our suitcases as well as room for a small sofa, chair and small table. The bathroom was small (but not overly small) and clean. The room was quiet and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is well located to the Peace Memorial and Museum as well as the town centre. It is a little way from Hiroshima station but it was only ¥1000 in a taxi. We thought it was better to be within walking distance to the Memorial rather than be close to the train station. The hotel also has irons and ironing boards easily located near the lifts, rather than having to make a trip to reception. Our rate included the buffet breakfast on the top floor. The buffet was good with the 'special' French toast being a highlight. The views from the top floor were wonderful. The hotel reception staff were very helpful when we arrived early, storing our bags for when we returned to check in later in the day. A nice touch was cold filtered water in the foyer along with clean cold hand towels. This is a good hotel and I would definitely stay here again.
A shiort tram ride from Hiroshima station, hotel is situated in the city centre within walking distance of Peace Memorial gardens and A-bomb site. Rooms are small ( standard in Japan) fitted will all mod cons. Breakfast is held on the top floor of the hotel offering great Jews of the city. Buffet style with a mix of Japanese and Western fayre..nice touch that we had sparkling wine on the Sunday morning for some Bucks Fizz. Great base for visiting surrounding areas,
I'm not sure why some people have called these rooms tiny. We stayed in a double for two nights and we're really happy with the space. We could easily fit one large suitcase and two large backpacks with enough spare room to move. Of course, rooms in Japan are smallish to start with but these rooms are not what you'd call tiny by Japanese standards. Our room was fresh, clean and nicely decorated. All of the facilities that we saw around the hotel were also in a good condition. In no way was this place run down or in need of renovation like some other reviews have suggested. The location was perfect for walking to the peace park as well as hondori street with heaps of food options on the small laneways nearby. It was also under 10minutes walk to hondori street car station which would take you almost anywhere you'd like to go in Hiroshima. If you want to try somewhere easy for dinner go to Gayagaya Izakaya, which is directly behind the hotel. It's lovely inside, has an English menu and does delicious (and cheap) chicken yakitori and gyoza.
Despite being the cheapest option online for three men staying in one room, the Mitsui was very newly redecorated and our room was wonderful and accommodated us perfectly. The hotel is an excellent location and well run. Check in was good and English spoken too. They kindly confirmed our "sketchy" booking for the Mazda factory tour without hesitation. Breakfast is VAST! So is the view from the 25 th floor! Walk to most things easily. Nice new smell too! WEL done management! Saw a few negatives on TA which you have to expect I know....but think most have been rectified. We last stayed in Hiroshima 5 years ago at the Rhiga Royal by chance and it too was excellent but a lot more expensive.
Would recommend this hotel! Was awesome!!! Was clean bathroom was a bit small but other then that would totally stay here again There is a family Mary next door, always a taxi out the front very convenient!! Totally recommend hiring a bike and riding around Hiroshima was a highlight in our trip! If you go out the front turn left and walk straight up to the pink building... in there they will set up a hire bike :)
The hotel is located exactly where you'd want to be in Hiroshima. Rooms are nice and clean. They are small by western standards but actually decent sized by Japanese. Walking distance to bars and restaurants, subway is right outside and also walking distance to peace memorial. I'd stay here again.
We booked 2 nights here for $165 a night. Upon arrival, they told us that we had booked a smoking room queen size bed. We asked whether we could switch it to a non-smoking room. However they repeatedly said that they were fully booked and that they could not accommodate our request. They suggested we use air freshener. My wife was really bummed. We looked online to find another hotel to stay. We discovered during our search that they had rooms available that were non-smoking. It was $135 a night with two twin beds instead of the queen. Why did they not offer us this option to begin with? Why did they say they were fully booked when we made it very clear that we did not want to be in a smoking room? They were not trying to help us at all and this was one of the worst welcomes I've ever felt at a hotel. We showed them that online they show that there was availability for a non-smoking room and we wanted to switch. They said okay but asked us to pay an additional $20 a night. They refused to make the swap even though we showed them that online it was cheaper than what we had paid. We had Expedia help us out to call the hotel. After an hour on the phone with the Expedia rep she also expressed shock by the lack of hospitality that we received and their refusal to be accommodating in this situation. The hospitality felt so terrible.
We stayed in Hiroshima for two nights and were satisfied with this hotel. I booked a triple room for my wife, 1.5 year old son, and myself, which wasn't too small by Japan standards. It had 3 beds, which my son thought was fun. This hotel is an easy walk to the Peace Park, right next to a Family Mart, and has a friendly, English speaking staff. However, it's a bit of a ways to Hiroshima station by trolley and not close to a train station. Overall, it's a good value and I wouldn't object to staying again.
We liked the location near the peace park. Pretty clean, modern enough, rooms include all u need, but they were small! We missed a sauna or swimming pool Service was fine Breakfast was not good unfortunately
If the Peace Park is your primary reason for visiting Hiroshima, then you'll like the location of this hotel. It's not inexpensive, but the room was comfortable and the staff was very helpful. We visited for one night in August, which was unbelieveably hot, and in the lobby they had cold water and a little fridge filled with chilled cloths -- a welcome and thoughtful amenity after a few hours of walking around outside.
