Himeji Castle Grandvrio Hotel - ROUTE-INN HOTELS -3.5 out of 5.0

The hotel rooms are standard small Japanese rooms, not much to say about it, but the main reason to choose this hotel is the hot spring baths on the 1st floor. Recently renovated and very nice and free use for hotel guests. The hotel is some distance from the station, but a free shuttle bus runs back and forth every 30 minutes or so.
Close to Himeji station. We stayed there for one night, which was ok. Time has passed since the last refurbishment of the rooms. If you want a non-smoking room, double check your confirmation: our invoice from the travel agency showed a non smoking room, the voucher was for a smoking (what we haven't checked). Since the Hotel was fully book, they couldn't offer another room. The breakfast selection is rich, if you like Japanese food in the morning, while the western part of the breakfast will not confuse you. But you will be amazed by the Chinese Communist Party national congress like atmosphere of the breakfast room.
We choose this hotel due to the price Enjoyable hotel and nice Japanese restaurant inside, god sushi for 2700 Jyen The public bath is enormous, clean and very comfortable We enjoyed it at afternoon and in the morning again Nice breakfast bufet that we payed They have a shuttle bus near the exit gate of the station that brings you to the hotel in 5 min The experience is great for the right price If we came again to himejy we will repeat The rooms are ok Just to spend one night It's a 10 min walk from the station on the other side of the castle
This hotel near Jr Himeji just 5 mins drive, provide free shuttle for guests. The most wonderful are varies kind of hot spa, onsen, sauna….etc , many choices for you to experience about. I like those spa facilities very much. All staff are gentle and polite, helpful. The food choices of breakfast were more and tasty. I enjoy staying with this hotel for my Feb trip. I would like to reserve again if I travel to Himeji again.
You can use Taxi from JR Himeji Station. Since I didn't carry a heavy bag, I walked to there. It took about 8 minutes from the JR station by walking in the rain. You can Not see Himeji Castle from this Hotel, but Very reasonable price to stay. Room is average, clean and has free Wi-Fi. Bed was comfortable. I recommend this hotel for the people who don't carry big suitcases because the size of the room is pretty tight. I chose this Hotel because of the Onsen!! Very relaxing after walking Himeji Castle all day long. I had a breakfast at the hotel next morning. It was GREAT! They served from Japanese-Oriental-style to Westerner's breakfast. You should be better to go to the breakfast room as soon as possible. They have a lot of selection, but gone so fast. Overall, I had a good time at Himeji castle Grandvrio Hotel. I will use this Hotel if I had a chance in the future again!
Tiny rooms like in Tokyo. The worst coffee I've ever had. They have free hot springs but forget about it if you have a tattoo haha . The location is not too bad but you need to walk 7-10 min to the station
this business hotel is good for MAKING stop for a short day rest after visting world heritage himeji castle in Hyogo prefecture. the japanese style onse is quite unique with different onsen;providing different level of temperature including tanzanburo, mizuburo, iwaubro, tsuboburo, sauna and steamed room.the room facilities are OK with its standard as three to four starred hotel with electric kettle, TV , fridges, shampoo, hairtreatment and body wash with Japan brand.
Rooms, were ok, on the small side, but the spa facility was wonderful. We arrived mid to late afternoon, so we got to really enjoy the spa before going out to eat. They also had massage therapists, and rates were really reasonable, less that 50dollars for an an hour. There is a bus service to Himeji castle, but the town is really flat, so it is actually a very pleasant walk, plus walking takes you through some street arcades with multiple restaurants.
The biggest plus for us was free parking at an adjacent building, as we were traveling with two cars. Other than that, the hotel is an average one for Japan (room size, bathroom setup). The location is about 800 meters to Himeji Station. If you are a good walker, you can go to Himeji Castle by foot (total distance of about 2.5 kilometers, one way). There are a couple of convenience stores within walking distance to the west. Just turn left when you exit the hotel. Other than that, you must head in the direction of the Himeji Station in order to find food.
I'm giving this hotel 5 stars as it cost a third the price of some of the other hotels we have stayed in and really gave good value. There is a shuttle bus to the hotel (it's only a ten minute walk but not with bags in the heat) from the station, which was waiting there at the station when we arrived ( to the left at the taxi rank, just in front of the parking building - but you can get all information from the helpful tourist information desk in the station). It also gave us a lift straight back to the station when we had dropped our bags, ready for a leisurely (covered) saunter up to the castle and gardens. You pay when you arrive, and the hotel is kind of a modern version of the traditional guest house, in that the rooms were simple, but spacious, it had a step up, inviting you to take your shoes off before you walk into the main part of the room (with its ensuite), and there is a spa pool and baths, where you can go to relax in the different heated waters, which my travelling companion said was an excellent experience. The only down points: the breakfast had very little in the way of western food, though we scraped together some cereal, yoghurt, eggs and bacon and toast and croissants - not a bad haul, but previous hotels had had a better selection of each. The other thing was that the windows of our room only had sliding screens on, giving it a further sense of a traditional inn, although everything was very modern; the down side of this was that it didn't black out the windows, so I was woken earlier by the light ... no particular crisis there. Although the staff didn't speak much English, they were friendly and tried to be helpful.
