We had also stayed at this property 1 week prior to our Orbitz booked stay. We had a double queen room which was fine, that is why we booked at the same property on our return trip. Our Orbitz booked room experience was like stepping into the Twilight Zone. The king room we were given was dark, dingy and filthy. Floors were not only stained, but did not appear to be vacuumed. The luggage stand upholstery was stained and dirty, also "something disgusting" on the sheets. We requested a different room and it had all the same issues. I called down to the front desk and complained that the room was unacceptable. Staff "upgraded" us to a king suite, which was still filthy - stained carpet, very dim lighting, peeled wallpaper in the bathroom, cracked shower stall walls, stained carpeting, dirty mirrors, very thin sheets, obviously old worn out mattress. Hampton Inns are our hotel of choice and we have never been disappointed or unhappy with a Hampton stay until this one. The 2 rooms shown to us and the one we ended up staying in were not anywhere near Hampton standards. Breakfast area was not clean, floors were sticky and dirty. The only garbage can was out the door and across the hall. We paid $150 for our room which should have been a $40 room at a roadside motel.
Everything was neat and clean, even though the property is being remolded. The only complaint is the coffee could have tasted better but that could be due to whoever made it. Overall a great stay.

This hotel was right off the highway and a ten-minute drive from Galax, VA (part of the Crooked Road). I stayed three nights, and each morning the hotel had a different menu for breakfast (free, lots of choices, and a hot breakfast). They set out cookies in the evening and had complimentary tea and coffee available all day. Pool and workout room were great, though keep in mind that there's only one treadmill and one exercise bike, which is fine if there's no one peering at you through the door, waiting for their turn.
