Pulled off the highway at 9:30pm after a 9 hour trip. Heading back on the road first thing this morning. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Room was spotless. Bed was comfortable. Had dinner at Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant in a strip mall about 5 minutes away. Ask the front desk for directions. Food was delicious. Perfect off highway, overnight hotel.
Nice enough staff, plenty friendly and helpful. Technology seems to baffle this property. Every day, without fail, the broadband would fail around 1715. Perfect time to get caught up on emails and such after a full day. I took that as a gentle nudge to get away from the desk and get an early dinner. By the time I get back at 1830, it's working again. The TV in the room was frustrating. After turning the thing off at night using the correct power off button on the remote, the following morning it had issues syncing up with the DirecTv box it worked with. Had to pull the power plug from that box, plug it back in and let it boot up, then everything was fine. My room door wouldn't shut all the way by itself. One evening, I walked down the hall and noticed that there were 4 others not shut all the way. Not sure if it was intentional or not, but I don't recalling staying anywhere where the door didn't shut all the way by itself. Other than those items, it was a perfectly fine Holiday Inn Express stay. Rooms clean and comfortable, breakfast as you'd expect, however the pancake maker was out of order.
Nicely redone except for the lighting. We were upgraded because of me being Platinum Elite which was great! We had plenty of room & a refrigerator & I think a microwave. The lighting was a little dim. I think it was the amount of lights used in a room except this was a suite. The front desk girl was very pleasant & the breakfast was good. I would stay here again.
We were driving from south Florida to Pennsylvania, we need to stop for the night so we stopped at this Holiday Inn Express, we have been there before so we thought it would be good. I was trying to make my reservation over the Internet (Priceline) thru on star. I could not get the reservation to go thru, so we took a chance and went into the hotel without a reservation. We were able to get a room, but not for the price that was on the Internet , I showed the lady at the desk all the information I had off my phone, the price was $20.00 less than the walkin rate for an IHG member. I was pretty disappointed they wouldn't honor the other rate. We went to get something to eat then went to our room, I got in the shower and noticed hair on the tub and wall of the shower. Then I looked around and the bathroom was not very clean, the sink and counter was also dirty. Make sure you check the room as soon as you check in!!!!
Needing an overnight while on the road, we found that this Holiday Inn Express to be reasonable, clean, friendly, and comfortable. Usually don't stay at this chain because they are more expensive than surrounding comparable hotels, but we paid $102.00 for a king bed suite - couch, chair, lots of extra space. Room had large flat screen tv, free wifi that even allowed streaming, and a comfortable bed. Evening staff welcomed us with coffee, tea, and cookies. Free breakfast included eggs, pancakes, cereals, oatmeal, fresh fruit. Absolutely would stay here again. but would ask for room on top floor. Soundproofing between floors not good and we heard every movement of family in room above us.
We stayed on a weekend night checking in at about 10pm. Our original effort was to call the Hampton Inn across the street, but even though the desk attendant said they were only 48% occupied, they wouldn't negotiate on their standard room rate. So, we went over to the Holiday Inn Express and the front desk gentlemen gave us a great discount - so we stayed there. We weren't disappointed - the room was clean and beds were comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and we enjoyed the morning coffee in their room and the free breakfast. We will always look at Holiday Inn Express hotels first in the future, and forego Hamptons.
I have stayed here about 3 times now, always a comfortable stay. The decor is very modern and looks newly renovated. I agree with another reviewer that the rooms could use more lighting. Staff are always very friendly. The AC/heat was confusing on my last visit. There was a thermostat on the wall, but the controls on the unit itself seemed to actually control it. Hillsville lacks good restaurants since Hardware Grill burned and left town. I have no problem recommending this hotel if you need to stay in Hillsville.
I booked this hotel for the night before my wedding. This is a very clean and accommodating hotel. The room was very clean and the help was very polite and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in the area.
Great stop, right off Interstate 77. Looks like a brand new hotel but was told it is 15 years old but newly renovated. The room was large, clean and comfortable. Good breakfast and free (yummy) cookies at night.
This a nice hotel, clean, updated and fresh but the sitting area in our suite had absolutely no lights. There is a nice sofa and a coffee table that pops up into a desk but you can't really work or read there because it's too dark. There are no lamps or overhead lighting, no wall sconces, nothing. Also the TV is too close to the window end of the room. It swivels so it can be viewed from the sofa but it seems like the closet and the dresser should be flip flopped so the TV would be closer to the sofa and still able to be viewed from the beds. The worst thing for us, however, was the worthless internet. It was so slow that almost everything timed out before it could connect. We couldn't even check e-mail. I realize it's "complimentary" but it still should work.
