We were a family with several rooms. Stay here every year. We always have a great time. Breakfast is great. Rooms are great. Outdoor features are great and this hotel sits very close to main street, although not right on the main drag. We appreciate that fact, especially since it gets so hairy on main street when town is busy. We look forward to this trip every year.
Stayed here during the Eclipse and decided to try it again. The lobby is beautifully decorated, however, the rooms are drab and in need of updating. The hotel is very convenient to downtown and all the Highland’s restaurants and shopping. It’s also reasonably priced.
I had the pleasure of staying at the Highlands Inn Lodge for over a month! I was in town for work and the hotel staff went above and behind to make sure my crew and I were cared for. I truly felt like I had a home away from home. If we needed anything the hotel owner was always there for us! The front desk staff were super helpful too with their restaurant and activity recommendations. They knew all the best hiking trails, and ways to maximize our time off from work in the area. I was sad when I left because the hotel staff had become like family. Also..John at the front desk makes the best cookies!!
We have stayed here for the past 5yrs and have always had a wonderful stay. This time we selected a suite since there were 3 of us staying big mistake!!! Not only did we not have enough towels and coffee for our stay the room phones didn't work the tub still had hair left in it from a previous occupant. Made reservations for 3nights and were locked out after the second night. Very disappointed and considering another place for next year.
THIS big property is so SPACIOUS and close to all that is Highlands ... you want to love it immediately BUT it reminds me of the beautiful Princess with a dirty face. Once a proud property, it uncoupled from the Hilton Brand a few years back - and threw away the paint brush....And quite a few other necessities. The property is an amazing 1 minute from the village center. Down the main street and a quick turn toward Sky Valley and zip into the hotel property, quietly set back in a glen of trees and shrubs. The mountains! Plenty of parking and a covered arrival departure area. Then into a very handsome large lobby with vaulted ceiling yielding big window views of the Forest. Relaxing. Appears PERFECT for a true mountain holiday. SO RELAXING‼️ Then there's The rooms... well ... perhaps an ownership change will key the renovation needed as EVERYTHING is as old as the wicked Queen herself. Thats harsh - but i had stayed here long ago when it was HEAVEN. Mirror Mirror on the wall, who is fairest of them all⁉️ And about that breakfast. Pity. Another example of achieving the minimum standards - OK ....but just....and frankly, from the weekend's non existent other guests, i felt this to be a financially stressed hotel. In a downward spiral. And i hated that, because deep down, i knew this former Hilton Hampton Inn had been one of the true Hilton Queens - a great pleasure and treasure‼️ Perhaps that is why i was so disappointed and frankly, sad. I longed for the property where i once stayed that was truly a Diamond - now only in the rough. The Staff, all 2 of them, were nice enough. Not there fault for this negative review. And strangely, because of them, the lobby, the fire pit just outside on a cool evening, and my nostalgia, WE ENJOYED OUR 1 night stay. But I hope this helps spur renewals.
Only gave average because the help was good. Rooms dinghy, and the rooms need a major update. The free breakfast was below average for most buffet breakfasts. The help was nice, but believe the hotel is understaffed. In the two days we were there, the four or five times we went to front desk with a question, had to wait because help was not there.
The property was very clean and appealing. The staff were all very helpful and accommodating. Big lobby with nice sitting area including TV, newspapers, fresh baked cookies and coffee. Rooms have inside entrances and were very comfortable. My room had a coffee maker, refrigerator, desk, iron electric fireplace and plenty of pillows. It was quiet and peaceful. Vending area on each floor with very reasonable prices. Shopping, dining, post office and gas/convenience store all within easy walking distance. It also has an outdoor whirlpool, sundeck and fireplace. This was probably the best hotel value I've seen in this area. I'll be back.
We've stayed here for a few years and it's always an enjoyable stay! I like it because it's away from all the action. It's always clean and have always found the staff there very pleasant and helpful!
This old inn is a nice enough place for a quick get away to Highlands area. I think it might have been a Hampton Inn or something similar at one time. Nice gas fireplace, but we didn't turn it on, so can't report on that. The bed was comfortable and the surrounding were clean. Found the soap/shampoo dispensers kinda odd and the outdated mini coffee makers need to be replaced. Over all, though, I think I would stay here again. Do wish it was closer to the shops. Oh well...not a deal breaker.
We've never had any issues at this hotel. Love the Patio rooms and the outdoor fireplace. Chocolate chip cookies in the evening are yummy! We've stayed both here and the Highlands Inn property on main street and had great experiences with both. Nice extended breakfast in the morning. Quiet and off main street but within walking distance.
