We've stayed here for a few years and it's always an enjoyable stay! I like it because it's away from all the action. It's always clean and have always found the staff there very pleasant and helpful!
This old inn is a nice enough place for a quick get away to Highlands area. I think it might have been a Hampton Inn or something similar at one time. Nice gas fireplace, but we didn't turn it on, so can't report on that. The bed was comfortable and the surrounding were clean. Found the soap/shampoo dispensers kinda odd and the outdated mini coffee makers need to be replaced. Over all, though, I think I would stay here again. Do wish it was closer to the shops. Oh well...not a deal breaker.
We've never had any issues at this hotel. Love the Patio rooms and the outdoor fireplace. Chocolate chip cookies in the evening are yummy! We've stayed both here and the Highlands Inn property on main street and had great experiences with both. Nice extended breakfast in the morning. Quiet and off main street but within walking distance.
spur of moment get a way, late arrival in Highlands, fireplace sputtered, remote control inoperative, outside light blinked on and off, no breakfast not even coffee, desk clerk sick, maintenance man in charge not able to check out, even off season, this was terrible. Beautiful property, great antiques, lots of blown trash. A disappointment, But, town was absolutely beautiful and the mirrowed lakes fabulous,
The staff is very friendly and showed us the different types of rooms before we checked in. The lodge is older, but we'll maintained. We had a light breakfast each morning until 9:30. You can walk to the shops, food and parade from here with side walks. Check out The Ugly dog, The Mountain Wine Shoppe and The Sports Page. Greast area to visit!
Great place to stay in Highlands North Carolina. Location is perfect. Lodging is very comfortable and quaint. Love it! Bed extremely comfortable. Staff is very friendly. Great atmosphere during the Thanksgiving holidays.
Stayed here to visit friends and to escape the August heat in Florida. This is a well maintained piece of property. Great lobby with some nice antiques (or reproductions). Loved the gas fired fireplace in our room. Yes, I did light it to see if it worked, and it did. Enjoyed the balcony outside our room. Breakfast was pretty slim pickings but thankfully we had a breakfast date in town. We will return should we be in the area again.
The room was solid; tidy and clean though very slightly in need of paint and touch ups, hard floors (a major plus!), easy access to main street (walkable if you choose), and the best part--it's dog friendly! There are only a few rooms which allow dogs, and I was pleasantly surprised to find ours like no dog had been there. Our boy was at home easily and didn't seen bothered in the least by smells and whatnot. My only complaint would be the "continental breakfast." The only protein available were frozen breakfast sandwiches and raspberry yogurt. There were a couple of whole for options, but if a whole breakfast is important to you, choose another breakfast spot. Overall, we were pleased and would surely stay again should we find ourselves in the area!
For those who may not know, this was a Hilton property prior to being taken private. Can't remember which brand of Hilton, but rooms are standard Hilton style rooms. Fireplace room are larger and a fireplace in Highlands is recommended any time of year. At 4118 feet, summer nights can be chilly ... I have stayed here many time prior to moving to the area.
We love Highlands and have been going there for several years as often as we can. This was a very excellent inn. The staff was extremely friendly, the grounds are beautiful, very comforting to walk around.
