Hotel Helka

The staff was friendly and helpful, beds and rooms comfortable. It's near the train station and central to many museums sites and shopping. The breakfast buffet was good. It's billed as a budget hotel but didn't feel like it.

I stayed at Helka while attending a conference, but lingered for a couple more days to take in the winter scenery as well as some museums. The hotel is located steps away from the train station; the journey from and to the airport was but a breeze. We mainly walked everywhere--despite the snow--and it was a pleasure as most museums, restaurants, and shops are nearby. The restaurant at the hotel is another treasure. We ate there a couple of times during our stay and were never dissapointed.

Great place for spending few nights during business trip to Helsinki

If you're looking for a fair practice hotel with tram access this is a great place to stay

Clean, simple hotel with friendly, helpful staff. They made excellent recommendations for restaurant choices, how to use the bus and arrange for an early morning taxi. Breakfast is quite a spread, from Karelian pies (piirakas), cheeses, breads, fruit, oatmeal cereal bar, eggs, bacon, salami, salads and more. The sauna on the 6th floor is beautiful and spotless. My only recommendation would be new, firmer mattresses.

I stayed in this hotel just for one night. From outside it looks modestly, but staff were friendly, and room is very clear, but very small. Taking in account it is in the city center, plus good breakfast, I will choose it next time.

I was so happy with my visit to Helsinki and I was equally happy with the Hotel Helka. The hotel is in a very good location so see more of the city than just the main Esplande area. We rented bikes from the hotel for the entire day (40 euro) and had ourselves a little adventure in the Toolo area (just nw of the hotel). We also rode bikes all around the city as Helsinki has some of the best bike paths I have seen in a city. There is a cool bike path that looks like it cut right out of the rock right outside the hotel and that takes you to the seafront in about 10min. As for the hotel itself, the bar area is very nice, our hotel room was nice and I love the picture on the ceiling. I was very happy with the Sauna facilities as well. Very clean. Overall, it's one of the best cities in Europe. The weather was also absolutely beautiful.

I highly recommend the Hotel Helka in Helsinki. The location is convenient, near good public transit and close to estuary ts. The hotel staff is very accommodating and their English is excellent, so you have no problem in being understood. Wi-fi was fast; breakfast was excellent. Overall, a good choice.

The hotel has a variety of breakfast selection, good location and close to the centre.

Helka Hotel was conveniently located...the staff were able to give me directions to where I needed to go to. The room was small but clean and had everything I needed....including a hair dryer, TV with internet capabilities.

very good hotel! nice, frendly and very helpful staff, great breakfast, excellent room(nice decoration, facilities)

The Hotel is very modern look. the staff is very attentive and on call 24 houtrs. I booked a single room, with a small closet, desk and bed and night stand. The only complaint I would have is the size of the bathroom is small but most European bathrooms are the same. Close to public transportation and attractions. Very nice breakfast. Room also has AC, which is rare in Europe to find. Great place for the money.

The hotel is modest but clean and comfortable. It is within walking distance of the railway station. 5 minutes walk to the west of the hotel there is a beautful park and beach for walking or jogging. The standing table breakfast is excellent.

Great location but very small rooms. If you are not planning on spending any time in the hotel other than sleeping, not a bad option. Restaurant has great food but expensive.

The hotel was comfortable and a short walk away from the train station. Room was clean and in good condition, but a bit small (specially the bathroom). Breakfast buffet was very good. Also hotel provides free internet although it was a bit slow.

Nice hotel, probably renovated just a few years ago. Clean room, decorated with a scandinavian touch. Quite acceptable breakfast. Not an inspiring neighborhood, but the Helka is conviniently located (near the centre of town / train station, and so on). Would not recommend for a family stay, but perfect for business purposes.

Beds were very comfortable but the bathroom was tiny.
