nice and clean hotel with friendly staff. i booked this hotel specifically because the photos of the building make it seem like a cool older building. however, when you go to your room, you actually leave the building and go into the adjoining building which is just a basic hotel building. the walk to our room was long from the lobby. too many doors to go thru just to get to the elevator and then even more doors to go thru to get to the hallways that lead to rooms, and you need to use your room key to get thru most of the doors, which is a bit of a hassle when dragging lots of luggage

Rooms could use just one additional foot in each direction. Fantastic free (included in price) breakfast, the staff works hard to make this a gem. Location is decent for walking to many of the strongest attractions of Helsinki. The price is quite unreasonable for what is ultimately a shoebox. Coffee and tea service 24/7 in the lobby would be nice consideration, or provide a coffee maker in the rooms.

A friend and I stayed here last right before Christmas last year and it was the best decision! It is within walking distance to almost everything you need to see in Helsinki and it is such a cozy hotel we couldn't have asked for more! The Christmas tree was up and the lights were low, it was such a comforting place! The rooms are a decent size for two people, it fit us and our giant bags. The rooms were clean and seemed new! The breakfast was AMAZING. By far one of the best spreads I've had a hotel. The hotel staff were amazing! They let us store our bags and go in and out to get stuff while we waited to go to the train station. I would 100 stay here again.

Beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. Rooms a little on the small side, and no elevator, but the location within the Old Town walls is perfect. I consider this a lovely boutique hotel. Recommended more for a romantic couple stay not a family vacation stay.

Nice location. Strange fire doors. Reemote out of batteries. Will return

Me and my girlfriend travelled from Russia for a weekend getaway and arrived in Helsinki much earlier than anticipated at 4am. After a sweet moonlight stroll to the hotel we were greeted by a kind staff member who allowed us to check in early at a reasonable rate. We enjoyed the room and the breakfast. Great stay!

Great place, short walk to center, but small rooms. Would recomend.

Good location but rooms are small and does not have a refrigerator, which is important in summer days. If you are going stay for a couple of days OK, but not for long periods. A little pricy compared to other hotels around the world.

The hotel had a beautiful foyer and exterior. The rooms were tastefully decorated with a comfy bed. The bathroom was separated from the bedroom only by a glass Wall and glass door which won't provide enough privacy for some people. staff were really helpful. overall it was a really nice place to stay and walking distance from the city.

It was all great. The breakfast buffet in the morning was the best of any of the hotels I stayed in this trip. But the staff and the accommodations were superior. I loved it. New building. (Just not to be totally perfect: The windows did not open which was minor. And the daily internet shut down at midnight not 24 hours from time of purchase. MINOR) I recommend GLO and would stay at it again.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are very modern and the staff is absolutely wonderful. The bed was also very comfortable. The breakfast buffet that was included with our room was quite impressive. The only downside is that our room was very small. Overall I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

A wonderful blend of old & new in one building. Stayed in a Smart room. The room is small, but sufficient for the needs of a single traveler. Nice bed, the head and feet raise/recline if you want to read in bed. Bathroom is small but very well done with modern tile, Grohe faucets, frosted glass enclosure. Room has unique lighting, including light up nightstands, gooseneck lamps over the bed, and bed underlighting. Lighting controls operable from bedside. It took me about 2 days before I was able to learn where all the light switches were. Breakfast was in a lovely room, its a light breakfast by American standards, oatmeal, duck & noodle soup?, turkey cold cuts, coffee/tea/juices, yogurt, fruits, bread and rolls and jam, cereal. No pancake/waffles/bacon. Eggs or omelets are extra, about 5 euros. Wifi connection in the room was ok, signal was weak but I managed to connect with my phone/ipad, and laptop for the most part. Confusing wifi options, when connecting a screen comes up indicating extra charge for wifi, but I was never billed any extra. The room also has a hardwire Ethernet connection but I didn't use it as I didn't bring my cable. The hotel also offers use of a PC in the lobby with an attached printer, useful if you need to print boarding passes. All said I would definitely re-book a room at Glo Art if my travels bring me back to Helsinki. We were in Helsinki for a conference on human rights, medical ethics, and protecting children from all forms of genital cutting (circumcision).

Highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Helsinki. Beautiful & unique interior, very eco friendly rooms, staff was extremely helpful and courteous.

newly finished (2012), well designed rooms. location is good, not perfect. as helsinki is a small town, no problem to reach every point through walking.

Like walking into a cave and finding a well appointed room. Quite different from the other GLO hotel, which is busier and nearer the train station, also more modern while the Art Hotel has an aura of uniqueness. My room was quite small but quiet and pleasant. It's an easy walk to the Centrum -- shopping, restaurants, museums -- yet away from the crowds. Very pleasant staff. Good breakfast.

I was going to stay there for one night, afraid that I may like it. but I love it. so I extend my stay in this hotel for 6 nights. The room is extreamly morden, beakfast is good, stuff are very helpful.

warm, cozy and clean, good breakfast and kind staff

Came on a random trip from Canada in july 2010, absolutly fantastic staff!!! Great little hotel and excellent location! Thanks again!

I loved this hotel. The staff spoke excellent English, and gave impeccable instructions for any question we posed them. The hotel is a renovated building from an old student union building dating from the 1800s - it has many quirky architectural features and truly resembles a palace. The main floor had a lounge set off from the reception desk which contained several large leather chairs, a massage chair, a computer terminal with free internet, antique safari-style (?) furniture - I imagined it looked just like gentlemen's clubs in the 1800s. Our room was fairly small - we had a cot brought in for our kid and this made it somewhat cramped. Unlike most European hotels, our bathroom was generous and even had a bath! The free breakfast was extensive, but not really to my taste - not enough fruit I guess.

Great hotel, only a short walk to the city centre and train station. We stayed two weekend nights, and the hotel was a real pleasure. The free breakfast in the morning was my favourite part, as it was delicious and there was a nice selection of newspapers to read while down in the dining room. Overall, an excellent experience.
