Mountain Valley Inn Dillard

Nice view out back window! Easy lodging experience, close to stores and restaurants.

The rooms were very clean and the staff was pleasant and helpful. Requests were responded to with courtesy and quick responses. The area was pretty in the foothills of the Smokies in North Georgia. The café next door was very convenient and had a large and tasty menu. Pillows could be fluffier, but all in all it was a very pleasant stay.

For the price everything was brilliant, if you are travelling on a budget mountain valley inn is a great choice, the little antique shops just down the road are definitely worth a visit!

This hotel is actually much nicer than I anticipated. It is an older hotel. It doesn't have the fluff of whirlpools, etc. We normally pull our camper everywhere but since we were just going for the weekend, we decided to find a hotel instead. We got there and the lady that was working on Friday evening was so sweet. The owners are a bit less personable, so I am glad our first meeting was with her. The location is great. Just minutes from Dillard House and very centralized to NC and many natural sightseeing opportunities. We got a room on the 2nd floor. Very simple with a bit outdated decor but I didn't go for decor...I went for a clean room. The frig and microwave in the room is a HUGE bonus!!!!! The hotel is immediately next door to a grocery store so you can literally get microwave meals and make those and never have to go out to eat. One thing I did not like was that the walls are paper thin. I mean the folks staying next to us were quite loud and we could listen to every bit of their conversation. Knowing how thin the walls are, I would think that a 2nd floor room would be much quieter than a 1st floor. Also, if you are banking on a good breakfast, might want to take you some Hot Pockets or something for the microwave instead. Their breakfast consisted of raisin bread, plain bagels, frosted flakes, fruit loops, juice and coffee. They did have cream cheese and jelly for bagels but it was a regular container that was a bit on the gross side. They do need to provide single serving packets of these items for health reasons. We did not use the pool so I can't review that. I can say that the blanket on the bed (not sheet..just blanket) was NOT fresh. It had not been changed after the last person used it. We had our own so we didn't have an issue but still...gross. While we stayed, we did find a LOT of workers and longer term tenants there vs vacationers. Although I have listed the negatives, I will say that we will stay there again next time we are in the area. I just wanted the next possible customer to know exactly what all the "bad" things were. Seriously, the good outweighed the bad. :-)

For $40-/night one should not be particularly critical or have high expectations. I actually paid $19- for the night as I used my Orbucks :-) The room was clean, bed surprisingly comfortable, AC blew cold and heat blew hot. Dillard is not the most exciting town on earth but the location was exactly where I needed it. Woman at front desk was pleasant and prompt. If I needed to stay in that area again for a cheap no frills comfy bed I might choose Mountain Valley Inn again.

The owner wasn't friendly. There was very little lighting. The door to the balcony wouldn't lock and we had to put a chair in front of it at night to feel safer. We had 4 guest which we had to pay extra for and yet we were only allotted 3 towels.

Great for the price, near the GA/NC border, central to Clayton, GA/Franklin, NC/Highlands, NC. No issues with room. Stayed twice.

This is an older motel that has been updated. Room was clean and comfortable. Nothing fancy, but good value for the money.

Provided the needed housing to be near family for a vacation in the Sky Valley area. The Cupboard a few doors down gave great service and meals. Provided the lodging important to us for the Dillard,Franklin, Highlands area and a great stay with son, daughter-in-love and grandson.

We had double beds and the sink was REALLY close to one of the beds. It was hard to get over there and get ready but it is manageable. Also, their continental breakfast was limited in choice and kind of disgusting. They had a community tub for cream cheese that looked gross. The staff was really friendly and it was very convenient to a store and restaurant.

I was by myself, so I didn't do anything. I just stayed one night. The staff was friendly, but I wish they would have been a little more welcoming. They didn't give any information, like when breakfast was served, or where... My coffeepot didn't work in the room...

did not get the room we had reserved (non smoking w/king size bed) instead we got romm with 2 double beds and every electrical thing in room including air conditioner was unpluged. the drink machine didnot work and kept your money, which we were told they would bring back to us but never did.[...]

The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and the price was outstanding.

We needed a stop over place for one night before we could check into our cabin in the mountains. We like Dillard and this hotel was a good location for us. The hotel was empty but they still put us upstairs with steep steps (we're over 60 and these stairs were not safe). [...] I think we could have gotten this room cheaper. The pillows were so lumpy that we just took them off the bed and didn't use them. The room was large and although it seemed old it looked like it had been updated, so it wasn't too bad. If we had been staying for more than one night, I would have asked to change to a downstairs room. I shouldn't have booked ahead b/c I think it would have been cheaper since it was empty.

The room was big and very nice for the price. It had a comfortable bed and the shower was better than most.
