Such a beautiful property - comfy - well stocked kitchen - amazing views and totally peaceful. We went to some vineyards - highly recommend Bozzo Family Vineyards only 15 mins away. Easy drive into Charlestown for shopping and exploring. Would love to return for a quick getaway from DC!

Mountain Mama was such a peaceful getaway! The kitchen was fully stocked with lots of cookware and the sitting areas were so cozy. We really enjoyed the hot tub at night with views of the lake.

The house is lovely and clean, and has a great view of the lake. We reserved during the winter and couldn’t use the lake but would love to return in warmer weather to be able to use more of the outdoors.

The hot tub worked well. The place was clean. The location was fantastic. I had no problems but somebody may want to run the blower on wood burner and if I didn’t have 4 wheel drive; I would not get in and out of drive. For me the stay was fantastic

Disappointed by the Gaps Between Reviews and Reality

We were surprised by how different our experience was from the glowing reviews. A few key items would have changed our decision to book and need attention: •There was no cell service and no landline. Even with WiFi, we couldn’t make calls or send messages — a major concern for safety and connectivity. •The house had a strong wood stove odor upon arrival and needed airing out. The thermostat consistently flagged “poor air quality” unless windows were kept open.•While the interior was very clean, the exterior needed upkeep. The screened porch furniture was dusty with cobwebs, and outdoor seating around the hot tub and patio was dirty and weathered.•The dock area had a strong odor from goose droppings, and bugs made sitting outside difficult even with repellent — though that’s to be expected in nature. •The living area downstairs wasn’t ideal for gathering to watch a movie — just a loveseat and two dining chairs.•The downstairs bedroom is right next to a loud AC return•The twin beds upstairs are very firm, and the foam mattress topper in the primary bedroom didn’t fit the bed properly, making sleep uncomfortable.This property has potential, but several aspects need attention to justify its 5-star rating.

Lovely lakeside home

Stayed here for a girls getaway. House was beautiful and the view was so tranquil and beautiful overlooking the lake. The decor was fresh and modern as were the appliances. Well stocked and beautiful kitchen. We enjoyed a very relaxing time. The communication from Mountain Mama was exceptional.

Perfect oasis

Absolutely wonderful house and comfortable beds! Very convenient to Harper’s Ferry, River Riders, and grocery store. Fishing on the dock, bonfires with s’mores, cozy hot tub and the sun porch could not have been more perfect for our family.
