I highly recommend the Splendid Star Grand Hotel. Martin, General Manager went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. After we checked out of the hotel we left for a cruise of Halong bay. Martin safely stored some of our bags at the hotel while we cruised. When we returned to Hanoi, he let us use a room and a shower to change before he arranged a shuttle to the airport. He ben walked us to his favorite Pho restaurant and showed us how to fix it like a local.
If you're looking for a high end swanky hotel then don't stay here! What you get here is real. Vietnamese charm and welcome oozes from all the staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Don't be put off by the taxi drop off on a seemingly random street with no hotel in sight. The hotel is in a secluded back street surrounded by local cafes and shops, street cafe and other 'Splendid' hotels (there's a whole bunch of them). On arrival my partner was super sceptical about the hotel to the point of great reluctance to get out of the taxi. Tom (from the hotel) eventually managed to charm him out (alongside a bit of coaxing from yours truly) ... all I can say is that we loved the hotel's charm so much that we extended our stay by 2 nights! All staff are lovely - with a special shout out to the woman on reception (don't know her game but she was super friendly and very strong!), Tom (whom we warned to greatly) and Martin (whose sense of humour amused is throughout each breakfast). Local charm and hospitality guaranteed - you have to go there! (We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite ... yes, church bells rang but it added to the charm and was easy to sleep though!).
Very good hotel, staff very nice and helpfull!! They offer free welcome drink everytime you arrive to the hotel and we could do the check-in early in the morning. Situated in the old quarter. Good choice in Hanoi :)
We stayed two nights. Its close to the lake and in the old quarter. Martin, the manager, is very nice and took well care of us. Even gave us money change at the good bank rate. Belongs to chain of splendid stars where we were very comfortable. Also air conditioning in the room which of course is a must.
The hotel staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Tom and Marteen helped me book a two day one night excursion to Halong Bay, which was fantastic. They also helped me book train tickets to and from Sa Pa. They were also very accommodating in letting me use a room and shower after returning from Sa Pa on the overnight train even though I wasn't staying at the hotel that night. If you need any help with anything, just ask them! The rooms were nice and comfortable. Breakfasts were good as well.
Splendid is the quintessential home base for any traveler visiting Hanoi. Martin is an exceptional guide with endless dining and entertainment recommendations. The amenities and facilities at Splendid are both comfortable and practicable for the price. Would stay again! 👍🏾👍🏾
Wow - the Splendid Star Grand is a treat! A wonderful boutique-type hotel in a warm and cozy corner of Hanoi. Martin, the manager/customer care person, was exceedingly helpful - always offering up suggestions of what to do.
Friendly helpful staff, especially Martin, clean rooms, complementary breakfast and coffee. Martin helped us find good food and places to visit too. Hard time imagine a better place to stay for cheap in Hanoi
We have just finished a family holiday with 4 nights at this great hotel , good well appointed rooms with clean & spacious bathrooms , everything you want to see is easily reached if you have any problems the staff will order a taxi or give you a map with all the instructions you will need , in my opinion for the price the splendid star grand hotel would be hard to beat .
We stayed at the Hotel for 5 nights in total. 1 night then a trip to Ha Long Bay then back to the hotel for 4 nights. The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. Fruit and drinks on arrival. We also left our luggage in the hotel whilst away over night. The room was spacious, we had a family room with 2 queen sided beds, a sofa plus adequately sized bathroom. They were clean and maid service daily with clean towels. The breakfast menu had alot of choice and food arrived quickly. The manager Martin and all the staff were very welcoming every time we arrived or departed the hotel. He ordered a taxi and gave us advice when we went to see Ho Chi Minh plus other museums. The map of the town is useful and they will explain where the markets are etc. Located in a nice part of Hanoi, The Old Quater, with the church as a point of reference to find your way back to the hotel. On day of departure we could leave our bags and return to shower so fresh for long journey home. I would recommend it.
