I've written about this hotel before. This is a update from my last stay. When you are looking for somewhere to stay, you look for cleanliness, comfort, closeness to tourist sights, friendliness of staff, and of course price. From the minute you walk through the door you are filled with a sense of, I'm home or I've been here before. The door men are quick to relieve you of your baggage. The receptionists, have all your details prepared, your room is ready, all you have to do is hand in your passport to be copied. You are taken to your room or its simple to get their yourself. On entering your room , you are greated with a sense of warmth, smell of cleanliness and a kettle to make a relaxing tea, or coffee or a cold beer in fridge, remember anything in fridge is chargeable. Your sheets, crisp and fresh, your towels immaculately white and soft Breakfast is included and the ground floor restaurant is as immaculate as your room. Food is freshly cooked, eggs as you want, fruit juices, never ending coffee or tea. Brilliant way to start your day. The hotel is centrally located in the old quarter and easy walking distance of most tourist sights, of course other sighrs are reached by bus, taxi, rickshaw. If you like street food, its just out the door and every street restaurant or cooking place are fresh and clean. Vietnamese food, is far tastier, less greasy, more vegetables than chinese food. Its cheap to eatva cook your own Vietnamese BBQ,,,,,yum. You may meet Madame, the owner of the hotel and she will treat you like a long lost relative. She is like her staff, efficient, friendly, courteous,,,,,some times a bit cheeky,,,,,lol,,,but I admit I started it ,lol, How can you get booked here . A 5star hotel, great staff, food, I advise uou contact Ms Lucy Ho at VN Discovery Tours and she, can or will organise anything and everything from stepping off the plane, assist in your visa, transport to hotel, Tours to Sapa, Halong Bay, just to mention a few places. You won't find friendljer tourist agents who guarantee you will receive the best prices for all your needs and wants. Am I biased, yes. I come to Hanoi a lot, Ive been lots of hotels till Lucy gave me this one to check out and I will never stay anywhere else now. Not at the price you pay for this quality and comfort. Don't take my word, try it, you won't regret it.
Although slightly “tired” is still a great choice. Right in the heart of Old Quarter but still quiet inside. Superb staff, nothing is a bother, i.e. bedside lamps weren’t working, fixed in five minutes. Comfy big bed, great shower, very clean. Oh, and we thought breakfast was just fine.
Central in the old quarter! We had the luxe room on the 6 th and 7 th floor. Large bedroom with big bed. Good bathroom and shower. Great variety at breakfast. Friendly people. Around the corner many restaurants on the street. Much more to prefer than the French quarter.
The room was nice, cozy and clean. The staff there were very friendly. Can't ask for a better location and the hotel is in the absolute center of Hoan Kiem. Highly recommend this for travelers to Hanoi.
We love the location of the Medallion right in the middle of Ma May and the Old Quarter action. Rooms always clean and decent sizes. Our only complaint is the breakfast which is always disappointing. We will return - just hope the breakfast is one day improved!
The hotel is ideally situated in the center of the city, offers comfortable rooms and the restaurant offers good Vietnamese and International Dishes. The hotel is ideal for travellers wishing to explore Hanoi by foot.In the evenings it is in the midst of the pedestrian zone!
Very good service, it is next door to a backpackers which is loud on the weekend, but for the price the service and room is exceptional. We had a very nice room and shower, free breakfast which was western and Asian. For any questions we had, they found the answers and found us cheap ways to get around as well as giving us information on key points to see. Very good.
Honestly this is a bit of a poor hotel. Pros: - location, right in the heart of the Old Quarter. Fantastic street food and shopping all within walking distance. Walk a little further to reach the Women's Museum and Water Puppet Show. - staff are generally helpful and friendly Cons: - old old building. Could do with a bit more maintenance. - next to a very loud backpackers hotel. Not suitable for families for example. - we had to be moved to a new room as our room flooded from water coming in through the ceiling. - intermittent (although this is probably has to do with the aforementioned flooding) - included breakfast was quite bad, with an average offering of mediocre food. If location and liveliness is what you're after, give it a go. Then again, I think there are cheaper/more luxurious offerings (Depending on your preference) nearby.
very efficient staff: know how and when to hlep their guests such as giving advice on where to go around Hanoi. hotel room was classic - nice double bed, OK bathroom, tv and coffee making facilties and fridge, tv. aircon is OK. breakfast every morning was good - selection of most basic bfast items such as a few selection of Asian dishes, fruits (mango was great!), and breads and coffee and tea. overall a very basic hotel. gym- needs attention - a few dumbells, barbel, bench, - rest of equipment were broken - too old and tired - needs replacement.
This hotel has an excellent location in the old city center and walking streets of Hanoi. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Nice clean rooms. Although located in a busy street, the rooms are still very quiet.
