Nice place spotless in super great location. Excellent price would definitely recommend. A little old but nice and clean. In the heart of old quarter making great access to the best of everything. Can’t do much better for price
We stayed for 6 nights here and it was fabulous. The staff were always accommodating. Our rooms were huge and spotless. Breakfast was one of the best of over a dozen hotels - some up to 4.5 stars we stayed in Vietnam and you could always make a request to the chef. (Hint for vegans) Thank you to all who made a stay comfortable.
We stayed here twice during our visit to Hanoi on an Exodus Trails of Vietnam Trip. Our group were also afforded shower facilities on the day we returned to pick up our bags before we took the overnight train to Hue.The hotel minded our bags while we went hiking & then again when we visited Halong Bay which was a great service. The location is great in the Old Quarter with a short walk to the Lake & to the Water Puppets theatre. The area is full of shops & places to eat. It can be noisy as this part of Hanoi does not seem to sleep! Breakfast is served on the rooftop overlooking the lake & the choice is good.
We stayed at this hotel for one night only before heading off to the Halong Bay for our cruise. Great location and very friendly staff. We had two rooms ...nice cute rooms, fairly spacious. BUffet breakfast was good...but very limited choice for vegetarians. Location was fabulous....close to the opera and all the high end shops. Enjoyed our stay...
Very helpful staff , clean rooms with good shower and loo , bed was comfortable. Rooftop pool was great and a good spot to have a quiet beer and gaze around with great views. We stored our bags in thier lock up when we went and did a Sapa trek so that was great , and we got a breakfast and a shower early in the morning when we got back off the overnight train from Sapa. Would stay there again.
Pros: great location, clean and comfortable. But...we had service issues. The wifi was so slow at times that you couldn't connect to anything because it timed out, even in the lobby and on a few devices we tried. That combined with front desk English that wasn't so good and an unmotivated Travel desk attendant made getting basic travel info like costs and locations challenging. I literally wrote down bon cho and asked if there was a place close we could find it. That's maybe one letter off but it's one of the mostly widely known north Vietnamese foods. I feel like great places I've stayed previously would have figured that out and been helpful. I emailed a day or so ahead of time asking for a room on a high floor and was told I was the last to check in so I got 4th floor. Not terrible but the horns honking were still an issue. Because we were up early from the horns we left from 9-2:00 and came back for a nap but our room hadn't been cleaned. We put out do not disturb sign and were woken up by phone call asking if they could come clean the room. That seemed like a disturbance. I tried asking if they could just leave clean towels but again the language barrier was too great and they called back about 15 minutes later. We gave up on the nap and left the room.
Right in the heart of the Old Quarter with in quaint criss cross streets and lake which seems to be where a lot of the action starts. Theatre, Street Markets, Restaurants, Shopping, etc. This Hotel offers great value for Australian overseas travellers, with breakfast included. It's clean and tidy and will not cost the earth to stay there for several days, staff are friendly and obliging, great value Hotel.
You can't ask for a better location. Close to the lake, in the midst of many shops and restaurants in the old quarter and minutes walk away from the water puppet show, the hotel is well situated for the visitor to Hanoi. Staff are polite and attentive.
My husband and I had a wonderful 2-night stay at the May de Ville old quarter hotel. The room was clean, and the staff was helpful and accommodative. The hotel had a wonderful spread of food for the breakfast buffet as well! The location of the hotel really helped us enjoy the bustling nightlife around us, the shops, and all the wonderful eateries as well as massage salons around! We felt right in the middle of everything and nothing was too far a walk. Definitely highly recommended for those that are looking to be in the middle of all of the fun!
The hotel is right in the old district, so it is quite noisy. We arrived on Christmas Eve, so even more so. The Vietnamese like to celebrate! We had the Panorama Room which is a suite. The main bedroom with dressing area and big bathroom, and the second room with 2 single beds, a sofa and a fridge plus bathroom - both bathrooms had auto loos with heated seats! The set up was perfect for us as a family, however, the main bedroom is quite noisy as, not only could we hear the street noise, the restaurant is directly above it, so you can hear the chairs scraping on the floor, particularly first thing in the morning when they start preparing for breakfast. There is also a washing machine close by which was set off over night which disturbed us. Having said that, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We requested spa treatment quite late in the evening and they very kindly accommodated us, even though it went on past their closing time and it was Christmas Eve. The food in the restaurant was OK. I would stay here again, though not in that room.
